A pair of these Pig-nosed Turtles or "Fly River" Turtles in a large (100 gallons or more) glass aquarium makes a scenic display. Watching them swim through a field of Vallisneria plants is breathtaking!
Patrick - 2006-10-09 I havent personally kept one. I really badly wanted one when I first saw it in a petstore in the philippines during 2004. I really thought it was unique!!!

das - 2008-04-23 I have a PigNose Turtle and I love it so much. It is a very gentle turtle you can even touch its lips since it is a harmless turtle. I even let him walk in my room for 5-10 minutes because it loves to move out of its aquarium. There are some petshops who sells Flywater turtles here in the Philippines, so it not so hard to find one. I've heard that some of the Pignose Turtles can be found in the Hong Kong river.

Gon29point55 - 2010-06-17 Petshops that sell Flywater Turtles here in the Philippines?! WHERE?! Please tell me! I'd like to adopt one of these as my own.
Kayvon - 2012-04-13 For anyone reading the above comment: Fly River turtles are totally aquatic, they even hatch only when the eggs become submerged. They only come out of the water when females nest, there is no other time. NEVER have them walk around the room.
anne - 2012-03-07 Our turtle (about 7 years old) has developed a problem with his shell, not sure how to treat it. I have pictures if anyone has any knowledge on this issue. Your help will be appreciated!

mike - 2012-01-28 are you sure that its a pig nosed turtle?
veela - 2012-01-25 The size of an alligator snapping turtle, the sensitivity of a softshell, aggressive and a vegetarian to boot. My advice to potential keepers is: leave this one to zoos and aquariums who are equipped to deal with it's special needs.
Jennifer - 2010-03-18 Hello, I have recently discovered a pig nose turtle in the pond at the park down the street and it has a baby with it! I live in Santa Barbara, Ca. Is this rare?

Ai Wei Ong - 2009-02-01 I bought four six-cm baby pig-nosed turtles for my son. As for the difference in tail length which is supposed to determine the sex of the turtles, the differnce is so negligible. At six cm how old are these turtles, I wonder. Although it may possibly take 25 years, we hope to breed them.
kevin - 2010-10-11 I just got a pig nose turtle! Behind my house, I am not sure whether it's a male or a female, it's about 10 cm. Want to know whether is it a full grown one or is it still a baby. And how do I make out the difference between the sex and how do I take care of it?
Tony - 2010-02-26 Pig nose turtles are one of my favourite turtles! They are like a whole bunch of species mixed together to form one exotic turtle. If I have the money, I would definitely buy one. I saw one at a pet store but it had bad water quality, was being fed iceberg lettuce, and had white specks on it's shell. I am angry at that pet store and I'm going to contact the humane society to shut it down, because I don't want to see another creature die or get neglected.

david - 2010-07-10 Tony, My name is Dave. I live in Tampa Florida. I wonder if you know the incubation of the pig nose turtle eggs. I have a fresh water lake outside my condo and we have some of these turtles. One morning, May 3, 2010 to be exact, a female was laying her eggs about 10 yards from the water edge. She was dispensing them in a hole she had dug about 6 inches deep. then she covered them up. It's now July 10th and there is no evidence that they have hatched and dug themselves out.
How long is the incubation and can they get out of that hole they were buried in? Thanks. Write me at [email protected] if you get this.
ben - 2010-09-01 Put the eggs in the water look online for incubation but can only hatch when there's water one of the very unique turtle eggs.
CJ Serrano - 2010-08-29 I need some help/advise. My pig-nose turtle has some whitish growths around his eyes and parts of his carapace. Is this just molting skin or has he acquired some disease? He has also recently just started staying at the bottom of his 50 gallon tank. Prior to these growths, he loved exploring the tank. If it is a disease/sickness, can anyone please help me by giving me some sound advice as to what I should/must do to get him better? I hope I can still do something to improve his well-being as he is a wonderful little guy who even now knows when to beg for food from me whenever I get home from work. He even loves it when I pet him on the head, much to the chagrin of my pet dog who is also addicted to attention. Thank you, in advance to whoever could help me out with my little dilemma.
