Have two Orientals, Princess Athena, and Romeo. For anyone with Allergies, these Cats are much easier to live with. Don't shed as much as domestic cats. Very affectionate and therapeutic for a disabled person. My Romeo will let me love him all day and be happy. Are expensive,  with some medical issues that might be due to breed. Still, am sooooo in Love with my beautiful baby's. Would Love to Share their pictures. Couldn't figure out how to do this on IPad.

Will try on computer. My Mealy Amazon Baby, who is featured on this web, is happily living with many other birds and now has a boyfriend of her own species. I felt it wasn't right to keep her because she was too wild and needed to be with other birds like her, so I found people who raised and rescued Mealy Amazons. Then I did the same with my Quaker, was lucky to find these beautiful Cats to replace my loss as I missed my birds. I would Highly recommend these Cats to anyone who wants a lovely, affectionate  companion.

Tonks are mystical, adventurous, goofy, thoughtful, loving, interactive and just plain wonderful! I love reading all these people's comments about how their Tonks have affected their lives. I can't see being without one!

They must be.  More people write in about a Tonkinese than any other cat.  I guess it takes them awhile to train their human but when the human finally understands what they are supposed to do - all works out wonderfully.

I just accuired an Ocicat by accident. Someone left him behind and he wandered up to my folks place. Starved for food and attention. I took him to the Vets to be checked out and I have a new menber to my extended family. My husband and I are at awe over his markings and resembilance to the Ocelot cat.

I found a cat almost 2 years ago now that was a stray in a really bad part of the city. He is a beautiful cat and so unique in his mannerisms much like an Ocicat. He also has developed quite the attachment and a unique sense of trust in me as opposed to the people I live with. i am not sure if he is an Ocicat, he does have very similar markings. I believe he may be a medium chocolate or a tawny colored Ocicat but I do not know how I can be sure....any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is no way to know - Possibly the mom or dad was an Ocicat or even both but you can't know for sure without seeing the parents. My human raised them and they are definitely unique and great personalities. Beautiful cats but mom could have been an Oci and dad could have been on the loose - so you just can't know.

How exciting! To keep it happy I would follow the social behaviors of the breed outlined above. They like people, dogs, and other pets. But they need lots of social interaction with you, and can become jealous of other pets. So give it  love and devotion, and don't ignore it in favor of another pet.

We love ours. He is so playful and very smart. He is like a person. He does sound like an elephant running through the house and swings like a monkey! I would have a 100 of them if I could. Love this breed. He likes to pretend he's a dog by copying our dog. Lays down right beside our dog and tries to lay in the same positions. When the dog hears someone at the door, she barks and they both go running to the door to greet whom ever is there. Our Tonk tries to play with our dog but the dog is too old to get into it. He will play with our friends dogs. He loves to run around and make his cute little noise when he is playing. Other than that, he is very quiet. He is very lovingly. He is our baby!

I wish I could have a cat like that... :( but my sister is allergic to animal hair, and my mom is only allergic to some animal hair but they won't get a cat, not even a kitten and I love cats and especially cats that love dogs. Well, I hope your cat will have fun with the dog. And I might even become a vet assistance if I study harder. But I got a long ways to go because I'm only a sophomore.

I adopted a 2 year old cat from rspca 8 weeks ago,he is very vocal he hates being left alone he doesn't like staying outside for long he only stopes crying if you let him sleep on bed with you he is black ,but also looks quite brown especially under his legs & underside .the rspca couldn't tell us much about him as he had been abandoned but they said they thought he looked oriental ,his head looks simular to a siemese he has quite thin legs compaired to other cats we've had his tail is also thin & has a kink to it ,he also has long sharp claws ,as soon as you sit down he edges his way onto your lap if you are reading he sits on paper ,I am concerned if he is an oriental cat does he need looking after any different from other cats ,as my others have all been independent & loved going out doors.

I rescued a kitten on the road in India and I've adopted him as my own.

I live in Southern Indian(Puttaparthi AP) and have had three feral kittens become family members. They all looked like ocicats. There are many such cats in this area that favour that breed. Personally I think they are simply what nature intended them to look like. They all have very outgoing and in charge personalities...make for great pets, assuming you don't mind the usual expectations that his the master and your there to servešŸ˜» Enjoy Jayashri

My beautiful boy Lyon is 12 years old. I came on here to see what the average age of a tonkinese might be and am so pleased that hopefully, I may have him around for a nice long time yet. He really has been the most wonderful boy, gentle, affectionate, funny everything you could ever want in a cat. When I went away recently to visit my daughter for 6 weeks, I left him with my parents who adore him, when I walked into the room where he was asleep in his basket, he heard my voice and immediately jumped out, said hello very loudly and came bounding straight to me....he had missed me, it was very obvious. He has always given way more than he has taken, I thank him every day for that.
