"We adopted a dutch bunny in February. She was only about 6 weeks old when I brought her home. Was in the pet store buying dog food when a lady came in with her and said if no one could take her she would let her go free outside. Of course I took her and brought her home to a family of two dogs and one cat. Everyone is getting along nicely and Spookie (that's what I named her) is beautiful. She is gray/white with bluish color eyes. Two weeks ago she was spayed, since I'm not using her to mate, she's only our pet and I've noticed how much calmer and friendlier she is since the surgery. She was very "spooked" when we got her (kind of how I came up with her name), and when you get animals from rescue, you have no idea about their background and/or how they were raised. I have been working with her a lot, handling her (she bit me a few times when we first got her and thumped at me) and snuggling with her on my lap. She now comes to me when I come home and call her name. She's in her large cage during the day while we are at work, and then comes out in the evening to socialize. The dogs don't bother her and the cat (surprisingly) isn't too interested in her. She's our oldest resident and is used to me bringing everything home. She loves to play with boxes and run through tubes. She's a good hay eater and loves her greens. I am now a very happy bunny owner."
