Cat Mutations - Cat breeds that do not have an ancient history and are based on an unusual and distinctive genetic characteristic or mutation. New cat breeds are developed based on a genetic mutation with these characteristics.
Exotic Cats - Cats of different genus and species than the "common" cat. These can usually be found in the wild or have a significantly different lineage than the common cat Felis domesticus. Many are a cross between a wild and a domestic cat.
Hybrid Cats - Hybrid cats are similar to mutations but require human involvement using cats of different breeds. The purpose is to achieve a particular body style, coat, or other feature.
Natural Cat Breeds - These cats are distinctive breeds that have evolved over long periods of time through generations of inbreeding. These cats are associated with a specific area or geographic location. This process is termed "breeding true".
