I do not feel that it's very accurate to say that Uaru's enjoy a planted tank as is stated on the profile as they're the 'hugest plant' lawn mowers I have ever seen of 'any species' fish. They even devour Java Fern. What fish eats Java Fern? They cannot live in a tank with plants unless you intend on growing the plants so that the fish can eat them. Softer water and PH yes, that's true, and they are definitely omnivores.

A very rare find here in Australia, I just picked up 2 of these awesome little guys with another 2 on the way, I got the first 2 at around 6 to 8cm in size and with good food and on schedule water changes and good filtration these 2 have put on 2 to 4cm each within 3 weeks, They are an amazing fish which not many people in OZ can get so i consider myself very lucky to have them. AWESOME UARU!!

Hey there, as you said they are difficult to get in Australia. I've heard there are only 4 registered breeders in Oz haha I have 2 17cm uarus, fantastic fish.
