My cabomba grew great and then the tips of the plants started to turn white. They got soft the leaves started to fall off and then the stem. did a half water change and no change.

3 years ago, found some anacharis in a lake near my house for use in my 700G backyard goldfish pond. It survives the Seattle area winters and has propagated well, thrived and multiples, it is mostly free floating. It is more of a cold water plant as it does not do well in my 55G tropical tank as only disintegrates and dies and creates a mess with the dead floating leaves.

My only problem with this plant is that the leaves easily breaks off plus the leaves stucks in my filtration system but no problem with the fishes

I have about 5 scores of cabomba green, they are growing alright towards the light but something seems to uproot them I have scarlet badis, neon tetras, glo danios, a ghost cat and a Bolivian dwarf ram cichlid.. Can anybody give me a solution as in is it due to the fish or anything else, I add CO2 liquid ferts, and have a gravel 2 mm as top layer with ADA aquasoil.. and a have good water flow.. all other plants hair grass crypocoreynes lilies anubias nachos wisteria doing fine

chances are its your cichlid. they love to uproot plants.most people will tell you it almost impossible to keep plants planted with cichlids of any type. ive had my share of this problem. they're the jerks of the fish world lol.

I have a pond (small) that initially occupied with different tropical fishes, but they always disappeared maybe because birds, or other.
A few month ago I decided to take a different approach and bought 1 plant (Anacharis)
so the fish could hide from predators, well it didn't work for the fish, so I moved the ones I got left with to my 20 gal tank, now I have so many Anacharis that I wish there was a way to use them and not kill them, Let me know if there is other use for the plant, thank you (Florida)

I got 3 bunches of Anacharis last week and they are already growing to the top of my tank. when I got them they had mostly all brown leaves on them, now they are all green. it is a very good plant; hardy and pretty. I would definitely recommend this plant!

'Aleen'. Hi Aleen, can you please tell me if you can, the specifics to setting up a tank for Aancharis? For example, temperature, does it need a filter, a light and how much light if needed. My husband loves this plant and I would like to get as much information so I can give him all the supplies and information he will need to make a tank of his very own. As much information you may have would be truly appreciated. Thank you, carman

I've heard it said this is a good beginner plant, but my plant didn't take long to die. My fish seem very healthy, so I don't think the water is toxic or anything. I haven't really had luck with any plants though. The fish did nibble on it a good bit though. That could have been the culprit.

Hi Julia. It´s very strange to have this plant just die. It´s a strong plant that if not getting nutrients from the sand or gravel will launch 'aerial' roots to get it. Probably your acuarium ecosystem aint complete, maybe your biological filter is not doing the job or you are not cleaning it properly. I bought four single plants in a very bad shape and are growing great.I use regular river sand, the one used to mix with concrete cement to build houses and freeways and all my plants are growing just fine. No fertilizers or CO2 added.

I was at my LFS the other day and got talking about plants with one of the employees. Any plant that has that reddish color tends to be a little more fragile and hard to maintain. The redness in it is caused by iron, if your substrate does not contain iron consider adding a supplement to your water or substrate! If you are looking for hardy and easy to care for plants, green is the way to go!

Hello Aquarists...I have 2 bunches of Japanese Rush I have had since I set up my Aquarium. I have discovered the Rush will naturally died back. Keeping my eye on the plants, they are a sparce variety and great for filling those larger spaces which require just a grassy plant or two. My Aquarium is now 3 months old.
