I'm not sure you can get an American Red Squirrel, but perhaps you can get the Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) as it is found throughout Eurasia, which is in close proximity to where you are. I suggest you read about it on Wikipedia to determine if it would be suitable in your area and climate. I'm guessing temperature won't be a problem, but providing the right habitat for it year round may take serious consideration. These would be the same considerations for the American Red Squirrel.

We have a beautiful extremely small red squirrel. He was born in our porch with 4 other babies on April 9th 2014. One squirrel died and the other three went into the 'wild' which is our yard and are hopefully okay. The tiny baby red squirrel is called Squiggly. His mom was found at about 5 weeks of age in the middle of the road and raised by us and is trying to survive her first winter outside (but has a way to enter the house if necessary) ... Squiggly has a tooth problem which is why we held him back. The top teeth are one tusk and one growing towards his throat, and only one bottom tooth which is very long, straight, sharp and threatens to cut his nose. We have to cut his teeth every 3 or so weeks. He is sooo tiny. I think he is a cross between a red squirrel and a mouse. Is that possible? Also, he is not as smart as his mom Squirmy. His sister Wiggles was really smart and about the same size as her mom Squirmy ... Squiggly is very fussy about what he eats and has a hard time eating. Ideas?
