My Daughter had a beautiful Teddy Bear Hamster, plus we have a very large part Black Lab part Newfoundland Dog. Our dog LOVED the Hamster so much that he would let him walk around on his back and they would sometimes sleep together. The hamster got sick and our Dog was the one that made sure we checked on him on a regular basis. Unfortunatly our beloved Hamsters did not pull through and our Dog was really upset he was not himself for days. Now we have a new Teddy Bear and we hope that they will become as good friends as the Dog and the first Hamster.

I know hamsters are so cute and sweet especially when they make friends with a different type of of pet.
My Hamsters made friends with a lizard that crawled into my room they've been friends ever since, they also eat mosquitos.

My Grandson's Teddy Bear Hamster got loose last Friday night. I have put food and water out for it. Anyone know how to catch it?

Well, hamsters are very active at night, so that is the best time to look for them. However, they like to hide behind and under things. So I would start by searching behind dressers, under beds, etc. Good luck finding him! I know when ours would get out he would always climb up into our bed, waking us up!

Try making steps up to a bucket with books or something then put something soft on the bottom of the bucket. Put food on each step and in the bucket. Hopefully he will climb the books and fall into the bucket and you will find him in the morning.

Get a mouse trap that doesn't hurt the hamster.

Put the cage on the floor, keeping the door open. Add fresh water and their regular food and he'll show up soon. My granddaughter's hamster escaped at least 5 times, and it worked every time. Sylvestra lived an exciting 3 years!

My golden fancy hamster was healthy and happy, until today I picked him up and noticed a lump o his chest area. It does not seem to bother him, plus he eats, exercises, drinks and still loves to be handled! I'm still worried and I can't afford a vet right now.

A lump like this could be either a cyst, abscess, or possibly a tumor. It would take an examination by a vet to determine which it is, which is based on the location and appearance of the lump.

My Chinese Dwarf hamster had a lump near the throat and I took it to the vet and it was a tumor. After, it started growing, then in about 2 weeks I she was in pain so I gave her to the vet to put down.

It's great to have a pet such as a hamster (winter white). It changed my mind that this pet is not as dirty as a rat.

I have recently learned a very good tip for treating wet tail which is highly effective. even with some of the sickest hamsters. ive treated well over 20 hamsters with wet tail at the pet store i work at. all you need to do is feed the dri tail liquid directly to the hamsters through a dropper. about 8 drops. also add it to the water as directed.

We got a black Teddy Bear Hampstear almost 1 month ago. He is getting very familiar with us now, but when we try to pick him up he gets very jumpy. Starting to wonder if this thing is anti social. He will take snacks from our fingers and wood sticks from us, and we can pet him too. Just not so sure about picking him up. (The last time I tried he bit me, got 2 fingers with one bite - I'm kind of apprehensive to try again too!)

My hamster is very sleepy. But one morning when I went to get him out he lost some fur around his nose. Is he sick? Please let me know.

How old is he? Does he act normal most of the time? Hamsters are normally nocturnal animals and so they will sleep most of the day while you are awake. As long as he is acting normal, is eating, and has a clean cage I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have had my hammie sence sept and he is doing great. but now that the cold weather has arrived he seems to stay in his hut more. Its only 62-66 degrees in the house ( dad hasnt turned on the heat yet) and when he does this is the normal temp all winter. Is he going to be ok or should i find a way to warm up the room.

He should be fine as long as he has plenty of bedding to snuggle up in. They are naturally noctural, so he may also be getting more inclined to sleep during daylight hours.
