My first guinea pigs name was Cuddles. He lived about 5 years. I have another one now, and I called her Snuggles. Sometimes she gets shy and other times, she is hyper and full of energy. She eats almost constantly and starts squeaking as soon as she hears the fridge door open. GPs are so adorable and are a great pet because they are so friendly. Your site is great!

I just wanted to say from my experience I have raised hundreds of litters of mice. To the person who said the pinkies will be eaten if you touch them, the pinkies are ate often times if a lot of inbreeding has happened, also if something is wrong with them, we cant see it , but the mother knows if they are not right, that my seem cruel and disgusting but ALL animals naturally know if something is not right with their baby. Some will abandon them, some will kill them, and for some reason some will eat then(in my openion they eat them because they cant abandon them since they are confined to a cage, and if they kill them, they need to dispose of them) mice however are ones who chose, to kill and eat them. Squirrels for example will throw the babies out of the nest. Mice are also often times extremely inbreed, which of course can cause all sorts of problems. Males in my expereince, will sometimes, although not always eat the babies, and of course overcrowding in a cage will cause them to eat each others babies. I have had some males that are as much a part of the babies as the mother, and other males who would rather eat them. If your mouse eats the babies i suggest you quit trying to breed that mouse, or take in to consideration your housing. Outside of doing a head count daily there is no reason to handle the babies the first several days-even up to a week-which you dont neccesarily need to handle them to count them. They are very delicate, and even as careful as you can be you can damage them. Maybe that is a reason the mother eats them only after you touch them. if you have noticed when you handle them, all organs are vary noticable through the skin, and can be damaged vary easily.

I have one mini-lop. His name is Loppy. He is a light yellow color,he
is very cute and likes a lot of attention. Loppy sleeps inside but likes it when I put him outside. I think mini-lops are good pets for kids because they get along with other animals like my cat cinnamon.

i have owned mini lops for three years and they are great! i just started breeding them last year and they are so cute when they are babies and they are better when they grow up. they all seem to love to cuddle and they, and they all have their own personality that is adorable. they are all very nice and not too energetic, my favorite thing about a mini lop is when you can open their cage and they stick their heads out and want you to cuddle with them. their are great little bunnies i would recomend to anyone. i have seen other breeds of rabbits and the mini lop is the best out there!!!

Minirex are great clean pets. You can potty train them, they are active, and they love to nibble sniff. ( i recommend a mineral stone that they can chew on to keep their teeth short and its edible so it gives them minereals) i am only 11 years old but email me and i can tell you what mine has done.

We have a pet reccoon, who is now 8 months old and 22 lbs. He is very "high maintenance" constantly needing his in-house cage (4 x 4 x 4 ) cleaned and water refreshed. Bowls of water get all soupy with what ever he can drag thru it. The lick style water bottles constantly need refilling.
He pats the spout with his hands just for the fun of it. We had a large carpeted cat condo in the cage which he destroyed by peeling apart the cardboad barrel it was made of. Anything that he can reach (socks, newspapers, books, etc) will end up in his cage and destroyed just for the fun of it!

We put him on a dog tie-out outside for variety, but have to check on him frequently because he tends to get tangled in bushes, trees, anything he can figure. There is a tree in the front yard I let him climb untethered for air-robic exercise, when I am willing to stay outside to wait for him to come back down. When we can, we feed him worms, minnows and crayfish in addition to dog food and table scraps.

He is a lot of trouble, but is very affectionate and has stolen our hearts. I have been bitten many times and have gotten poison ivy from him twice when he has gotten away. But we have gotten so much affection and kisses from him, it all seems to be worth while.

If you ever want to keep a raccoon for a pet, you must be willing to get bitten and make the effort to give him a good quality of life from his point of view. Boredom is his biggest enemy - a raccoon can never have too many toys or too much variety.
