My rabbits name is basil and she is soooo cute. She lives in cage in my back yard. Basil is 8 months old by the way. I got her name when i let basil in the backyard and she climbed on a pot and put her paws in the air and pulled down on of the plants that my mom had and the plant was called basil.

Sorry changing the subject....i have a flyer his name is Parker. Have had him since Dec 2012, was about 5 wks old eyes still shut. Came to my lake camp had him in his cage, went outside for just abit he was in my shirt, usually he stays right with me but he jumoed off and was gone! It was around 8:30 at night, i sat outside in my lawn chair, i could hear him squeek so i would call his name. Around 1:00am yes still sitting outside with aheavy heart, i was looking in the trees, I saw him glide throughthe trees...Just Beautiful!!!!! So i said alittle prayer if this is where he is suppose to be at least he is happy. Still outside 3:00am saw him again gliding from tree to tree. Finally at 4:30 I dozed off in my chair, then I heard him behind me in one of the pine trees..I walked over extended my arm said I was sleepy lets go to bed..........he came down from the tree about 20 ft jumped on my hand an ran down my shirt snuggled next to my side went to sleep!!!! I was so amazed!!!!! Just wanted to share my adventure with Parker the flying squirrel!

I just got a baby guinea pig and when I show him my five year old guinea pig he sniffs him like crazy and my five year old guinea pig does too and the older piggie sometimes tries to nibble on his face. Is that bad or do they like each other?

They are social creatures, and it sounds like they are doing okay. But it can take a bit for them to get used to each other, so keep an eye out just in case you need to put them in separate cages until they know each other better.

I have had my dwarf rabbit about two weeks he already potty trained. I just put the corner pan in and he used it himself. He comes right to the door when I open it and trys to climb to me. I just love him.

I recently bought myself a skinny pig a couple of days ago, and haven't her squeak once, not even at the pet store. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should bring her to a small animal vet?

As long as she is healthy, active, and eating fine there isn't really any reason to see a vet. Guinea pigs can make sounds, but they don't always, and yours is still getting used to its new hoome. If they do start chirping, rumbling, purring or squealing, the sounds indicate different things like being hungry, courting, aggressive, enjoying attention, just plain happy, etc.

I have four and I want to know way to keep my guinea pig litter dry because every time they drink out of a water bottle it leaks and I am afraid of letting them drink out of the bowl because they have one or two babies in the cage I don't want babies to drown supposed to do.

You may want to get another water bottle, but a tip, don't use cold water. Tepid water tends to not leak as readily whereas cold water often will.
  • razzeldazzel - 2015-07-17
Ahhhh! ! Finally found the trick to not having a leaky water bottle. . . When filling, fill right up to the top. . Yes to the top, and it will not leak! !

Guinea pigs are very social creatures that actually like and need companionship. However, introducing two guinea pigs that don't know each other can cause some problems of dominance. It's best to keep them separated but close to each other for about 2 weeks, so they can see and smell each other. Then put them together in a neutral area for a little while, like a bath tube or a small room, for a few days. Add some veggies to keep them occupied as they get used to sharing space. This usually gets them over the hump of 'new guy in my space' problem. Then try putting them together in cage with their own territories, like separate hides, and see if they get along. There are times when two pigs just simply won't get along and then will have to be kept in separate cages, but more often then not they will adapt.
