I currently own a growing 4 maybe (just molted again) fast growing female Sapphire Gooty Tarantula I got from a retailer online in the US. I have had a fear of spiders all my life and wanted to just get over it once and for all. I have a deep respect for this creature and have a decent vertical enclosure and was good for the time she was smaller. I am now coming to the point where she will need to be re housed in a larger enclosure meant for Tarantulas I have found on the internet. Now when I read that to move the gooty to another tank use a paint brush? Has to be a mighty long paint brush for me. I keep getting fears of it jumpin on the brush and b-lining for my hand. Defensive/AGGRESSIVE is all I see. For one I'm not allowed this species and two I am not looking to find out what a spider of this calibre can feel like and going to the emerg and explaining what did it. LOL. Is there any other way I can move this thing? I've been thinking about going outside even so if it goes bad its not loose in the apartment and killing my cats. Anyways any help if anyone looks at this would be greatly appreciated

I've had my rose hair for over 15 years she used to eat regularly and molt once a year she hasnt molted in almost 4 years now and she has rejected all food i have offered for the last year or so is she at the end of her life cycle or is this normal for older tarantulas?

Females can live up to 20 years, so maybe she is getting ready to molt.

Sorry if you late to help, but iv had friends whose Rose hairs didn't eat for 2+ years, these awesome tarantulas act so different from one another even tho there the same species, but yeah, rose hairs are sooo unpredictable...I'm so glad mine burrows and makes itself a awesome lil chill spot most people say they'res just sit and don't do much so I'm real happy I got a real active Rose hair...she is such an kick ass tarantula!!!

Hi All! It's nice to read this comments, do I'm going to leave my own. Yesterday I found a common snapping turtle in front of my house where I park my car. My passenger almost stepped on it when getting out of the car but I noticed it because of the some with which it ran to get out of the way! I don't know how it got so far from the nearest stream but I decided to keep her (the lady at the pet store said most likely female based on vent location). We currently have 'Mojo' in a ten gallon tank but know she will grow quickly. Her shell is roughly 2 inches long and we're guessing 1-2 months old. We are feeding her meal worms, pellets, and minnows. She has a Huge appetite (and think this might be why she was so far from her habitat--perhaps there wasn't enough food? Or she got washed out by rain). I have two kids, and based on our research, it's important to handle them a lot early on to condition them to people. We would love to avoid getting bit by her and we don't want her to get too far either! We still have a lot to learn, so any tips would be appreciated.

My baby Leopard gecko name is Breannan he let's me handle him and he's very sweet but recently I've notice he's stopped eating I've tried feeding him baby fruit food but now he won't eat it any more. Also I've notice he's developed these indentions on the sides of his head between the top of his head and his ear, I don't know what they are or if he's sick and that's a sign. Help?

If its a Leopard Gecko, fruit isn't the best thing to give it. They are specifically insectivores. I don't exactly know about the head symptoms

Pink toe tarantulas are great for beginners. They have a mild temperament and aren't too picky. They prefer to be up high so your terrarium should be taller than it is wide. I just use a regular glass terrarium with a slide on lid. Her light weighs down the lid so it won't come off but she's never even tried to get out. Be careful when you're feeding it, they jump!
