I had my eel for over three years! He has a strong and rich color. At first he would'nt eat. Then I fed him some goldfish and guppies with a little garlic solution. It had worked and now I feed him the same thing to this very day.

We "inherited" one when a friend moved. He disappears for days at a time, then shows up early in the am. He moves very quickly and I have never been able to catch him to get him out of harms way when I clean the tank, so I just hope for the best. The family who had him before thought he was like an algae eater, but I think he tends to eat my smaller fish and debris on the bottom of the tank. I've never fed him, at least on purpose.

Just got one a few days ago in VA, USA for $40. Thought he died or something as he just disappeared for several days. Then one morning I saw his head poking through sand in front of the tank.

He has ended up in the sump cavity on the back of my tank once. I don't really have a way to cover most of the tank because of the refugium and powerheads so i hope he doesn't bail out. I may glue some googly eyes on him if he does, kek!

These guys go pretty deep in the sand so they may disturb a deep sand bed if you depend on one.

It's been a week and he hasn't eaten yet.

We have an 18 inch Yellow Headed Eel in a 300 gallon fish only tank. The Yellowhead also lives with a smaller Snowflake, a V. Lionfish, two different type of puffers, a Harlequin Wrass and a R. Trigger. Last night we added a 6 inch Lunare Wrasses to the tank. This fish was the bully of another of our tanks. Everyone ate fine last night. This morning the Lunare was missing!!! Gone, no where to be found. While feeding the others the Yellowheaded Eel didn't come out to feed. Later we herded the Yellowhead out to find a very large belly! We are convinced this monster ate the Lunare Wrasses.

I have a blue ribbon, he is about 4 feet. i feed mine baby feeder guppies live, and now he is eating sliversides. I will tell you that in 15 years i have never seen one eat, and have lost one due not eating. If you are lucky enough to find one eating, you are lucky. Ghost eels almost always will eat live grass shrimp

Zebra Morays are actually somewhat of a rare find and not as hardy as some of the other common moray eels but can be kept sucessfully. The most frequent problem is feeding. Their primary food source in nature is almost srtictly crustaceans. I have been sucessful with whole frozen Krills for a transition from live foods. Some success with Freeze dried after that.

I bought a blue ribbon eel as an impulse buy. The eel did not eat for almost 1 month and had started to loose its beautiful colour. iwas sure he was going to die. i tried all types of frozen foods, live food was not an option as my lionfish would eat them too quickly. I bought a piece of plastic sheet to seperate the lionfish from the eel and tried small goldfish and after 2 atempts he cornered the goldfish and gobbled him up. One week later i had him eating frozen fish(white bait i think?) from a skewer stick and have removed the plastic sheet. This eel requires alot of patience and effort to acclimatise.

I've had a blue ribbon for several months now. I have not been able to get him to eat frozen foods but he has taken to live island silversides quite well and eating on a regular basis. This is about every other day. It is a very hard eel to get eating and would not recommend this eel to everyone.

keep your tank covered as these guys have the tendency to sneak out at night, krill is a good choice for a food, i have one that will eat krill out of my hand, really cool...
