My ACD keeps running away and I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure she needs more excircise. Also she has become very aggressive towards my nieghboors and turning my other dog aggressive. What age does an ACD mellow out?????

I'm not sure they do mellow out. They were bred as work dogs for herding and they do best if they have a 'job' to do. From what I've heard about them, if they don't have a job or get plenty of exercise everyday, they can begin to display disruptive behaviors. Sounds like your guy needs more activities, which will keep both him and you happy.

We adopted our beagle, Shiloh, 7 years ago from the Humane Society when he was about a year old. He was a tough puppy for the first year and a half between the pooping and peeing in the house and the chewing. Once we got his food right and he outgrew the chewing, we could truly enjoy him. Although he's an Alpha, he is such a mommies' boy. He's extremely intelligent, sweet and tough. If thunder startles him he barks at it almost to have the last word. He loves kids, loves spending time with his canine and surprisingly feline pals at doggie daycare, but his most favorite is cuddling with us at the end of the day. Beagles are the best!'

Our long-hair chihuahua is almost two years old and such a sweetheart. She gets along great with our relatives' small dogs and at home with our 13 year old cat. Its so cute to watch the cat and dog play tag around the house (although the chihuahua knows the cat is the alpha pet). She still has potty-training accidents during bad weather, but otherwise is very behaved. Unlike most of her breed, she rarely barks and rather lick people then bite/growl. Chihuahua's have a very bad rap for being yappy and ill-tempered dogs but not all of them act that way.

i have a 1 year old long haired chi and she is the sweetest dog. She also never ever barks and loves to lick people. I thought my Peanut ( that's her name cause she is only 3 lbs) only did that. As far as potty training goes, she is too little to go outside in the snow so I have placed a small pan with a piddle pad in it in the corner of my bathroom and she goes in there. She also goes outside when its nice out, but I found this to work great for chi's that are so small.

I have 2 long hair chihuahuas and they are so wonderful. I was given the first one from my daughter and he was so shy and scared of everyone and everything. He was 2 now he is about 7 and so happy, he is awesome to watch run he looks so proud. He does still have a bit of an attitude, always afraid of others around his food but just growls and complains. My little girl is almost 3 and so different I had her from about 2 months. She is happy and very friendly but barks because the male does when someone comes around. But she always wants to greet people and get some attention. I love this breed they are so cute and stuck to me like glue.

I have a 5 year old chuchua her name is Lucy and she doesn't bark and is so sweet and lovable. She is short hair breed but doesn't shed much and she is great with most people. Only time she bites is if she thinks one of us is being hurt.

We just lost our 14 1/2 yr old longhaired sweetie pie 3 weeks ago. She was potty trained within a week, was not a barker and loved to cuddle. She was a huge part of our life and we miss her soo much! She stole the heart of everyone she came into contact with, young and old. We live in Pennsylvania and are looking for a sweet little long hair female in Pa, ohio, New York area. Can anyone help.

Just found a dog at an animal shelter here in Long Island NY. We are having a family meeting on him. He looks like your sweetie pie. He looks like 2-3 years old. His hair is full and grown in. If we don't take her he would be a perfect match for your family. He has such expressive eyes too. We had a cocker poo who passed last September. My daughter has been in mourning and this dog bonded with her immediately. We just have to talk with dad to make our final decision.

I have an 8 month old mastiff and I was wondering if it was worth starting joint guard now with her to try and avoid problems in the future?? any suggestions or is it only for when they do have joint problems? thanks

I've seen joint problems in Saint Bernards, it's uncomfortable for them. But I'm not sure when it's best to start joint guard, I bet your veterinarian could give you some good advice on that.

I just adopted a long-haired chihuahua that someone dumped in the woods in 20 degree weather. Who could be so cruel? She's a pup and precious. I named her Cuervo to compliment my other chihuahua, fifteen year old Jose! She also gets along fine with my 8 year old lab (Taylormade) and my ? year old adopted cat (Swiper). She's precious and shows me her 'thank you's' in puppy kisses!

We adopted a Smooth collie mix---he is just lovely! Just a little bit stockier than a purebred. We've never had a collie before so I'm wondering---do Smooth Collies like to hunt rabbits? He is mesmerized by rabbits, not birds though. And he hardly ever barks except to let us know he wants to go for a walk---and that's a short commanding bark. He also tries to sing with me when I sing and have a voice lesson. He is VERY vocally expressive. When strangers come to the door, he doesn't bark but stands with me. I'd appreciate any knowledge you'd like to share with me about Smooth Collies you've known and loved. Thanks.
