I just read that bull terriers were not good with cats, or other pets. My oldest bullie Rich certainly proved entirely otherwise to me. A girlfriend of mine came back into my house carrying an infant kirry. Evidently the kitten had been exiled by her mother. Talk about nurturing; my male has always slept on his back on my couch. I had to go to work, so when I got home the kitty was lying on his stomach, nursing on his unit. Friends for life. I have since gotten a female bullie for breeding, and companionship. She is now retired, and the kitty, now 7 years old, and the female bullie have become great friends after many spouts over my males attention. Good times, funny stuff!

I have 5 long hairs they are all rescues they are my babies everywhere I go they are all right behind me they are so loving but if they think I am being threatened they are ready to protect me when I get a blanket and lay on the couch they each have their own spot next to me I just love my little dogs no matter how bad my day has been the minute I come through the door and see their adorable little faces it instantly becomes better I also have a 65 pound pit bull named Bella and they are best friend she will lay in the floor and they will jump on her pull on her ears it's so funny to watch she it's so gentle with them and when we go outside for walks she always is looking back to be sure they are all begins her and she won't go inside until they are all inside they are the light in my life

I have a beautiful year and a half old Puguawa girl. She's had a litter of adorable pups, the perfect mommy. well she's gonna be a mommy again. My concern is she sleeps a whole lot. ..She's only 3 weeks pregnant, is this normal?

Most dogs start to sleep a lot more when pregnant, usually it becomes most noticable about 2/3rd's of the way through pregnancy. Chugs have about a 63-day (9 week) gestation period, and some have been known to sleep alot throughout the entire pregnancy, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Bull terrier pups won't wean from their mothers any earlier than 3-6 weeks of age. If you are trying to feed a 1 week old pup, you have a job on your hands. The stomach problems are most likely from an incorrect formula. Esbilac puppy milk is a great formula choice and readily available in pet stores. A baby this young will need feedings about every 2 hours around the clock, which will become less as she ages. If she doesn't do better right away I suggest you take her to a vet, they have the equipment and expertise to deal with babies this young.

I just thought it would be good to tell you that you should add that boxers are more likely to get cancer then most dogs are. They are VERY athletic dogs so should go on walks multipul times a day. Thank you

yes that is very true and good quality breeders with good blood lines have a lot less problems with cancer and other diseases

hi my name is Ashton and I love boxers very much they're my favorite breed they're awesome dogs great with kids I train my dog very well to where they were perfect off the leash any dogs I ever owned know all the basic commands I went to grooming school and did a lot of volunteering so I did a lot of dog training and my female boxer was stolen from us and we were hoping that somebody out there it might be trying to get rid of they're pure bread female boxer we would give her a wonderful loving home she would be an inside dog the one that was stolen was a real beautiful cropped ears flashy fawn champion bloodline female and we love her so much and we miss her so there anybody out there thats looking to rehome their female boxer please give me a call at 865 360 4360 thank you so much for your time and thank you for taking the time to read this.

That is so funny...just like my long haired. Sometimes it is like she even knows what I am thinking! I never mention going to the vet but when that day comes she hides when I say let's go BYE....usually she loves her rides in the car! These pets are smarter then we are!

What is the best way to giv our little one some Trifexis? I mean that stuff STINKS and these dogs have a smeller that will detect this 'stinky stuff.' We tried a little allpesauce, put some in his treat, and we resorted to actually.... I held him while my wife put some in some yogurt and forced it down/made him swollow it. I felt bad doing it but you would think they could make this stuff so a dog could take it. Any thoughts for next time?

Heh... sounds like you guys had some fun:_ I've used hot dogs to bury the medication in for dogs, and that usually works because they will just gulp it down (no chewing for them!). Also, a technique I use when medicating dogs and cats... I open their mouth by gently inserting my finger on the far side of the mouth, just past the molars. Then I put the pill as far back in their throat as I can, where all they can really do is swallow. It's fast, effective, and over before they even know it happened! Then I give them lots of love and praise.

:) #1 worse part....to put the stuff in his mouth so he swollows it. #2 worse part.....Trifexis STUNK THE HOUSE UP. This stuff stinks and our dog can smell it(no matter what we tried).

A miracle has happened! We can get heartworm medication injected for a six month period of time and it is no more expensive than six months of Trifexis. I just got my dog, Bonnie, an injection and am so glad I no longer have to wrestle with her to get that stupid pill, which she hated, down her little throat.

I usually break the Trifexis in half since the pill is kind of big for them to swallow, then coat it with cream cheese monthly for both of my dogs, long hair chi & miniature poodle. It works like a charm every time.

I break it up a litle and then put it in a fairly good size piece of cheeses or a ball of cheeses whiz or piece of hot dog.

We tried breaking it up and rolling it in cheese. It worked for one piece then he smelled the second piece of cheese and walked away. That's when my wife put it in some yogurt and (kinda) put it in his mouth. Got some on his coat by his ear and she washed him but didn't get it all. I took a pair of scissors and had to cut the piece off. Getting onto a different topic it seems our dog has a smooth coat but when it comes to the ear area it 'looks' kinda matted(it's not just looks that way). Seems the area 'feels' kinda damp and wondered if it had to do with his ear.

I break the Trifexis into several pieces and then put them into pieces of a Pill Pocket. My dog loves the Pill Pockets! Good luck!

'Should gulp it up?' You don't know our guy. He likes the peanut butter then when he smells the Trifexis he walks away. I feel bad forcing it down his throat but I tell him 'it's for your own good.'

Try fat free American cheese. I have an 11 year old longhaired chi with an emlarged heart. He has to take several pills a day. We first tried just putting them down his throat - didn't work. Then we tried the pill pocket routine - worked for a few times and that was the end of that. He loves American cheese. We now wrap his pills (sometimes I have to cut them up if they are kind of big) in pieces of cheese. No problem, right down the gullett - I guess he thinks they are treats. You might try that avenue.

NOTHING works for this guy. UNFORTUNATELY we have to resort to forcing down his mouth. Yeah just put some stuff that stinks the high heavens into some cheese and he won't know. YEA, RIGHT!!! After grinding it up in some yogurt, an hour afterwards he hacked that up. Have I stated that this junk stinks?

Yes, stop using trifexis. My dogs were on it. I have two long-hairs and they got ticks and fleas. It does not work as well as Frontline and Heartguard. My dogs LOVE the Heartguard and have NO problems with the Frontline. I tend to stay with what works. The concept is good for the Trifexis but they need to perfect it before they sell this stuff!!

I have an eight-month-old male Chion and he is the most lovable dog I have ever had. He got parvo three weeks after I got him even though he had been vaccinated and survived after five days in ICU. He loves everyone and I have him at my store with me every day. He loves his three 20+ pound cats, one in particular. He is a joy and when I mate him in a few months with a Chion who has the same father different mother, I am going to keep one of the litter. He's very fussy about food and pants a lot in a car, but other than that, he is snuggly and lovable and loves kids and people in general. I think having him around people all day has been good for him. He loves to play and in the yard it is impossible to catch him when he's running in circles. He is very very smart!! I love him a lot as he has stolen my heart!!

We have a male Chion that will turn 7 in May. He is a real joy. Very loving and extremely smart. Loves to cuddle and sleep with his mama and daddy right between us on his back with his head on the pillow. He loves to travel especially to go camping. I do not let him off the leash unless he is in an enclosed area because he loves to chase birds, squirrels and cats. He is ok around older children but does not like younger children and tends to growl and snap at them if they approach him.

Ours, also, loves to sleep in bed between us with her head on the pillow as well as going for car rides and walks on the beach. We take our Chion, Caya, for walks off-leash on some trails at a park near us and luckily, we've never had problems with her going off (they're quite loyal to their owners). On occasion she will run up to a tree that a squirrel is going up, but always joins us in a few minutes. You might be able to work with a trainer to help with your dog's agression towards younger children. Ours is great with people of all ages.
