Hi there, 6 months ago a white dove flew into my door. The bird is still here, the bird is the boss now. He/she is not in a cage and can come and go as she pleases. Sleeps on the kitchen cupboard, I need to know what they eat. She looks very stressed, can you help?

I have an Australian Shepherd and a Queensland Heeler Mix out of OK, USA. She was a purposely bred dog to herd cattle, be family friendly and very, very protective of her known land and home area. At 11 years old, she now has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Is this common with this mix breed? Also, what is the normal life age of this type of breed?

The average life-span for both theAustralian Cattle Dog and the Queensland Heeler is 12-15 years. And yes, congestive heart failure is a illness both breeds can be susceptible too.

About 5 years ago we acquired a small, mix-breed dog from a rescue organization. He was hit by a car, suffered a broken leg, and was abandoned at a vet's office. A lot of guesses were made about his genetic make-up, but the consensus is that he is a toy poodle-toy schnauzer mix. He certainly looks exactly like some of the photos I've seen of this mix. He actually gets compliments like'cutest dog ever!' when we walk him. He is one of the friendliest dogs I have ever owned, especially towards other people and their children. He is also very affectionate and energetic, a great 'alarm dog', and loves to play, even at his current age of (an estimated) ten years. Wonderful pet! Big believer in rescues!

I have a 16 month neutered English Bull Terrier. I've had him 4 months from his previous owners who didn't have the time for him. When I first got him he was mouthy, nipping all the time and pulling at my clothes when out walking. He's calmed down a lot now and occasionally still tries to pull my clothes out walking but becoming less frequent. However, yesterday my female friend and her partner took him on a 4 mile walk. He left her male partner alone but continuously tried pulling her lower clothing down. Any ideas?

I have an amazing little girl Chion. Someone gave her to my sistee who already had a dog and a cat. My girls fell in love with her and so did I. She is so attached to me and the best dog I have ever owned. She wants to go everywhere with me, sadly that can't

We adopted two long hairs from a breeder friend near Sacramento , California. A male, Boogie and his sister Daisy Mae. Very interesting breed! Very stubborn yet anxious to please. Obedient but in their own way and on their terms. Playful and very loving. Positive reinforcement is the ONLY WAY they can be trained. Corporal punishment, like the animal abuser above uses, will never work in a positive way with these dogs! Super intelligent and almost spooky pre cognizant abilities. Yes, they do shed and do require monthly bathing. These two tend to have sensitive skin. Diet wise, they'll eat anything. Fruit, veggies, beef, fish and poultry. I cook for them and our other canine due to all of the toxic and trash ingredients in commercially prepared foods. Overall, they are a high maintenance breed and require a lot of love. Very protective, especially the female! Contrary to the breed description, these two get along very well with the chow/golden retriever mix female we have. She does her best to tolerate them but would rather they leave her alone. Would I do it over again? Not without a great deal of consideration! Now, to the person who beats his dogs: shame on you!!! If you do not have the patience to raise a dog then you should not have them. There is no good excuse under the sun to ever beat an animal, regardless of the type of animal or circumstances. That kind of behavior is not acceptable in our culture and that should be a global distinction. You deserve to be thoroughly bashed around by someone 30 times your size. Yes, you are about 30 times as big as a chihuahua!!! If I knew where to find you, I would report you to the authorities and provide a copy of your statement from this forum. In the end, God will ultimately give you your just reward for being cruel to your pets. He doesn't like that very much either! Shame on you Mr Big Man!

We have a 1-year old cutie that was sold to my mother as a papillon. When she asked us to take him, I began to suspect he had chiuwawa in his blood. Today our vet agreed with me. After looking at photos of chinos, I'm now 100% sure there is more to little Bentley than just an adorable, loving little dog. While we have three other tiny Maltese miix babies, Bentley is the best cuddler and kisser. His fur is super thick and soft, and his little tongue is just as soft. He loves to play with his sister and brothers, but always checks in with us to from time to time to make sure we're okay. His only behavioral problem is aggressiveness towards dogs he doesn't know, and even some people. He's only 6 little pounds, so he's controllable, but daily walks would be better for all if we could train him out of this.

7 months ago i adopted a 10 1/2 year old chion. she was abandoned. people can be so cruel the shelter named her Apple. it may sound strange but she is the apple of my eye. she 100% housetrained. will only use a pee-pad during the night and that is quite rare. she is sweet and loving but feeding her is a whole 'nother matter. some days she will eat chicken and then refuse it. same with all other meats. doesn't like other dogs however. when she sees one, she strains on the harness, barks like mad, wags her tail yet her fur is up. not sure of the message she is sending. excellent watch dog.
