i have a 2 month old long haired chi tht the breeder was feeding fresh pet 2 times a day a tablespoon each time, my question is ? is this enough food for this chi and if not what do you recommend on feeding , bathing .andis being in a pet carried overnight ok ? thanks in advance for your help

I rescued a 4 yr old male long haired chi/ pomeranian mix. He looks like a long haired chi. He wieghs 6 pds but the vet said he is underweight because you should not feel his spine. He does look real thin. Anyways, he doesn't like dry dog food and I have tried several brands. So I am going to make my own dog food. I found a recipe online . Will have brown rice, turkey, chicken, beef, peas, chicken broth , water and eggs in it. I read they should not eat beef so I will eliminate that. But I have no idea what size portion to feed and if once a day or twice. I have not owned a dog in 30 yrs, since I was a kid. I have had cats, 2 recently passed both were 19. Any ideas? Also is beef really bad and why .

Feeding can be an art with these little guys, as some develop allergies, gain weight quickly, or other things. There are recipes for chihuahuas that include beef, so I don't think it is necessarily bad for them unless they seem to develop issues that are diet related. These little dogs do require frequent feedings in small amounts. Some suggest feeding about every 4 hours. In general, the amount of food fed each day is based on the chihuahua’s weight. On average, they will eat 1/4 to 3/4 cup of dry food per day. But it is important to offer a high quality diet and read the manufacturor's suggested amount for the weight of your dog.

Do you still need a home for your long haired chi? Do you have a picture? What is the color, weight, age, and health of the dogs? We live in Benton KY, where are you located? We lost our Daisy in May, we have a fenced yard lovely home and only the two of us, we keep our pets inside.

We recently adopted a beautiful ginger long haired chihuahua, 2 yrs old, incredibly sweet, fully potty trained, couldn't ask for a better dog. The problem? We adopted her as a playmate for our somewhat rambunctious 1yr old long haired doxie mix and she is completely overwhelmed by her. I absolutely love her but I think our wild pup and busy household isn't what she needs. She would do well in a quieter home with no other dogs. She isn't aggressive, she's just not interested in other dogs. I'm in California so I'm not sure if I can even help you. I'd be happy to send a pic if you provide an email.

I've had a wonderful Lhasa for about 6 years now. Bachelor was about 4 when I got him. I inherited him from a friend because he'd bitten a little girl. The first couple of years were rocky. He wasn't housetrained and had severe separation anxiety when I would be gone at work all day. I had another female dog in the house, Sunni, but apparently she wasn't enough company. After many sets of chewed up miniblinds, my neighbor took it upon herself to start babysitting him everyday while I was at work. It worked out great for about a year! ...until they moved. Oddly enough, he's done fine ever since. We've since installed a doggie door so he, the Lhasa-Poo mix, Sunni, and Maxx the Golden Retriever have the run of the place and Bachelor has adjusted nicely. He's so spoiled. If he's not sleeping at our feet, he's up on our pillows right by our heads or between us. Lhasas are great dogs, but I agree, they don't like the teasing. We have actually had to 'learn' how to play with him because he plays different than the other 2 dogs. We are more careful with him so he doesn't feel threatened by play that is too rough, even though it's not intended that way. He has definitely picked out the 'leader of the pack' around our house. I would recommend Lhasas to any couple without children. They are great companions!

I have a 2 year old male Lhasa apso and since he was very young he has absolutely adored all my grandchildren from newborn to 18 years old. When he hears th very young grandchild cry he gets very concerned and wants to lick him. He runs around and plays with the 3 and 8 year ild as though he was another child and the 15 and 18 year old he gives them lots of live back in return to what they give him. He loves everyone who is involved in my family but very wary of strangers who cime to my door. He is sociable with other digs but he us clever enough to give a wide berth when off his lead when he sees a dog he is unsure of.

I've lost my lovely two dogs (female-15yrs and male-10yrs) due to old age.. now I soo sooo want to have atleast one chihuahua.. the house feels soo empty without anyone of them...
