Rese Davison - 2017-01-23 When my African Grey died suddenly, I couldn't stand the quiet house! So, I went looking, just looking at birds, I wasn't planning on buying! (Yeah Right!) I went to three different bird stores and not one of those beautiful birds took my heart. The last store I went into, I met Cooper. He is an Illiger! I fell head over heels in love! I named him Mini Cooper! He is my little clown, my sweet boy, my angel, and my brat. I wouldn't trade him for the world! He is talking up a storm! One morning he came waddling into the kitchen and I was sitting at the table. He said 'What are you doing?' I said 'eating breakfast' He said 'Ohhhhhh' and he turned around and waddled back to his cage. I was laughing so hard! He leans over off the top of his playstand and says 'come here'! He is adorable! I recommend this type of parrot to anyone that has time to spend with them! I feel they do need your time!

He is adorable, we hand feed him, he walks around in the house, sits in his cage and playstand, sits on our shoulder, is very loveable, he eats everything, fruit, his pallets and seeds. But it is now 9 days that he started to moan, while he is eating, walks around, and even when he is sitting on our shoulders, he is moaning non stop, till he goes to sleep. He stopped playing with his toys, only wants to eat seeds (nothing else), and where he sits, he sits and moans, only goes down to eat and drink water. I'm irritated with his moaning, it's from when he wakes up till he goes to sleep! Can anyone help me please! What did I do wrong for Marley to moan non stop!

I open his cage and he climbs down the cage and waddles over to me on the couch. When he wants to come out of his cage he says, "come now, come on boy", and he does not stop until I open his cage. His name is Zuse, and he chops up his wooden toys like a chain saw.

Jeff - 2010-03-01 These birds are prone to wasting disease, many of them die in capitivity, due to kidney failure. Take him to an Av Vet and have a complete blood panal run, he may need a special diet.

Eva J. Blanco - 2008-10-03 Hello, My name is Eva and my husband just bought me an Illiger for my birthday about 1 1/2 months ago. When he purchased "Chulo" he was about 1 month old. Since we've had him, he's been very isolated. He gets very agitated whenever we try to talk to him or touch him. He does not like for anyone to talk to him or whistle at him. I have tried leaving the cage door open so that he can walk around the house and he refuses to come out whenever we are around, but he will come out if we leave the door to the cage open and leave the room. I don't know what to do, I don't want to get rid of my baby Chulo but I feel he is not happy with us.
If anyone knows what we're doing wrong, please let us know!!!!!

Jeff - 2010-03-01 You got Chulo at too early of an age, He shouldn't have been removed from the nest that early. Be careful with his diet and watch that he get enough Protien. Patients and love is all you can really offer this baby Illiger's. Make sure he gets plenty of Avian Vet visits until he is around 6 mos old.
