I have a nanday and a sun and find them to be wonderful pets. I think the nanday is a male although I have no idea whether the sun is male or female. They do like to yell in the morning if they can't see me but I never yell back or it gets worse. We trained my sun to yell Quietly which means she imitates my son, imatating her. More like saying quack instead of actually quacking. As far as the comment before this one, I would try to use gloves and get the bird used to the finger. I would imagine age might be a factor if they never took the bird out

Ihave a Nanday Conure which was give to me by the neighbors. They said he was too noise to have in their apartment. He is very smart and after only a week is repeating things I say. However, I cannot get near him. He has consistantly bitten me and has recently taken a "chunk" out of my finger. Not sure what to do.

I have had the pleasure of owning and living with "Marty" an 11 year old male Catalina for 10 years now. He is very intelligent and has a vocabulary of about 30 words in combination with phrases. These birds dont just mimic what they hear, they know what to say and when. They can be very, very loud, messy, demanding, lovable, funny, and just about any other adjective you can think of. A wonderful experience.

A Pet shop offered me a golden conure for sale, I know this species is rare and near in extintion, But I can't find any info other than that on them, Can anyone help me out with info on these beautiful conures.

i enjoy my reggie he is a bluffons . adoption of this macaw , from a wonderful woman tracy. he was avian rescue we fell in love with each other ,he is so much fun ,he talks about 200 hunder word i write them all down . he will also do about 10 tricks and enjoys prefroming them ,i know he would do more. i work about 3 hours day with him,and take him on 3 walks a day with my orange wing amazon, another rescue bird. i have rescue 4 parrots ,they have change my life for the love of birds.......JENNIFER

I also have a blue and gold macaw his name is kanui and he is the light of my life. (Talk about smart) he is sure alot of fun. He always puts a smile on my face when I think of the things he has done the night before .... He is the best......

I have a blue and gold macaw. It is the most beautiful pet. It is very understanding and loves your companionship. I love my baby parrot and to be honest, I dont see my life with out him.

I have a 3yr old male Meyers named Cara (italian for my love). We were told that he was a she when he came home just after weaning(2000). He will not answer to any other name but Cara. He can be onry at times, especially if his feelings are hurt. He is a very sensitive little guy and quick to let you know you are in the wrong. He may be little but his bite is big. I know because in 3yrs Ive had 2 chances with fate. He too is a chatter box. His favorite is "get me out," pause for response and if none then "right now," pause for response "a-n-y-bod-y-?" Where he learned these we guess off the radio I leave on when we are not at home. He loves spicy foods and I mean HOT. He will laugh and then give you a quick kiss. So word of advise if you give your baby any peppers in the meal do not let your bird kiss you. He loves to dance upside down in his cage and listen to the beat of the music. Cha Cha Cha. Over all. He is a JOY to have around. I would not change a thing with my little guy.
