Randall - 2013-06-30 You are going to need a bigger tank for these guys. They are suppose to be in at least a 55g if not bigger for 6 of them. They can grow up to 10' and live up to 11 years.
Randall - 2013-06-30 I just got a silver mono and it was in a brackish tank at the fish store. I was a little worried that he might die cause I have a fresh water tank. But he seems to be doing just fine and I am very happy with him. He loves the rocks in my tank and is very active. Great fish to add if you have at least a 55g tank they need room to swim and grow.
peesbees - 2013-04-06 I just bought a single mono and have kept it with 2 gold fish, 2 sharks, 1 ghost & few guppies! Although read that they are not fresh water fish. But they were kept in fresh water from where I bought them. Is it really a bad idea?

Jasmine Brough Hinesley - 2013-04-06 Mono Fish usually do fine as youngsters in freshwater aquariums. But as they get older they usually do better in a brackish water environment.

Jeremy Roche - 2013-01-21 These are difficult fish to keep and they are schooling fish and should be kept in numbers. 10 gallons is too small for them. Is your tank a freshwater set up? Very important to find out what environment that they came from. If the petshop had them in brackish you will need to know the salinity so you arent shocking them.
Amanda - 2012-06-20 I have 4 mono's and 3 columbian sharks in my 110 gal tank. We have had two monos for over a year and added two more a week ago. I've noticed one of my new monos have been getting picked on and he looks depressed, swimming at the top away from the others. How can I get them to all get along? Please help! I love all my fish but it's very sad to see this!

nirmal - 2010-04-09 Orandas are usually peaceful fan tailed fresh water gold fish on the other hand silver moony's prefer saltwater. Usually silver moony's are peaceful and shy fish but are fin nippers, silver moony and oranda are not good tankmates as silver moony will nip the fins and tails of oranda which will stress the fish and eventually the fish may die.
neel - 2011-05-19 See mono are a type of agressive fishes and orandas are calm in nature. 1st of all your fish provider should guide you regarding the same it would be better. That at the earliest shift your monos to the other tank.
neel - 2011-05-19 See since the fishes are converted from salt to fresh water and time has passed almost 11 yrs it would be better if you would keep them in fresh water.
Anonymous - 2011-09-05 They are Basically tough and relatively fast moving and enjoy the similiar accompany of fishes...preferably brackish water fishes...hence I suggest do not mix them up with orandas and gold fishes...
Werner - 2012-07-08 The Mono Angelfish is a brackish fish, but I can proudly say I have 4 of them in a normal freshwater aquarium and they are doing great.
The Mono Fish is a shiny diamond shaped fish that's perfect for the brackish water aquarium!
I have got 5 silver monos, what is the best size tank to keep them in?
A 55 Gallon tank.
Almost you can keep them in 2 and half feet by 15 inch by 15 inch tank.
I'd say at least a 55g if not bigger for 5 of them. They get about 10' and need room to swim and grow. I have 1 in a 90g.

My 2 mono angels are fighting the big mono is hurting small one by bitting his skin...... What should i do knw they r my loving ones
Try and add more places for retreat. Areas that will break the line of sight sometimes work.
I would get more of them..if you have the room in your tank. So its not just one getting picked on all the time.
