Guppies are an awesome, beautiful, hardy fish that are easy to breed. I breed guppies and they never fail to amaze me on how many new brilliant and vivid color patterns or mixes the new babies have. The guppy is a type of fish that is perfect for experts and newcomers into the aquarium hobby alike.

Basically I have been breeding guppies for the past 8 years and they never sieze to amaze me because I always have something new in my aquarium. To some extent it can be said that it is not exactly easy to breed them because you can get as many frys but the adults have a tendancy of eating them and before you know it all of them will be gone. Therefore I would preferably seperate the expecting mother from the rest of the fish and in my case I always make sure there is more than enough food daily so as to reduce the chances of the mother eating any thing consumables unnecessarily. The guppy list is endless ,but for me I think they are the most interesting pet fish one can keep due to their variety and adaptation in various communities.I just love the guppy family,GO GUPPIES GO!I have about 100 adults and fry of up to 120 per month(various types of the guppy family.

I THINK THAT GUPPIES ARE GREAT FISH TO KEEP. THEY ARE VERY EASY TO TAKE CARE OF AND ARE ESPECIALLY GOOD WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT KEPT FISH BEFORE.

Guppies are perfect for beginners and they are good for season veterins like myself. With their beauiful colors they are the perfect fish to brighten up a fish Tank. One thing to keep in mind though if you have too many guppies together in the same tank then they will nibble at each others tails. Baby guppies can hide in any plants but some are better than others. To prevent having your guppies die there are a couple of fish that you should not put in with the guppies. Some examples are all Barbs (like tiger barbs). i have personally caught my fathers tiger barb biting off parts of tails and pop eggs (from the one time that i had an egg from a nother fish).

Its brilliantly colored colours often attract admiration from its owners but danger from its other tank mates. I have personally caught Tetras red-handed nibbling at its tail~! I honestly believe that Guppies are best kept with its own species. A dozen or more males will look really mesmerizing. Best to keep 1 male & 2 females, or 2 males & 4 females, for breeding purposes and provide driftwood for the babies to take refuge at, or have the babies transferred to another tank.

Dont get a male and a female in one tank, they will breed like crazy! And when you breed them careful with colors because if you mess up, the fish will be dull looking with no color, and some petshops will not buy them from you , or they will use them as feeders for larger fish. AND when you want to breed them for yourself keep the good ones and release the bad ones in the community tank so the other fish will snack on them, sounds mean, but thats better than throwing them away. You can also seperate the male and females of the fry when they get around 2-4 weeks old because then THEY will start to breed again. I suggest using a net divider in the small fry tank.
