I have had my Tex for about 2 years he is about 7 inches now. He has killed all other tank mates up to this point but recently I put a divider in the tank. I have placed a baby Jaguar Cichlid in the other side and a large Pleco in his side. The Pleco has taken a beating but is fine now. The baby Jaguar has gotten through the divider and is still alive! The Tex even protects him, they swim together, eat side by side, and if the Pleco comes close to the baby Jag he gets a stern warning by the Tex. I have never seen this sort of behavior before, I am truly shocked (and happy). As a side note try feeding your Tex right out of your hand, just watch out for them teeth!

Thats why I'm putting a pair of [SMALLMOUTH BASS]. to breed in a long long long long 40 gallon tank and move the female to another big tank after they spawn the male will care for the babies. I will add 4 male pumpkinseed sunfish, 2 clown loach catfishand 1 single male Rio grande texas cichlid that will live in a cave in a dark area with red coral trees.πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We have 2 Oranda Goldfish and they are the most friendly fish I have had. We have them along with two other small goldfish in a 75 gallon tank. We cannot seem to keep the ammonia level at 0...It ranges from .25 to 1.0 every day. We are beside ourselves as we now are changing and vacuuming the water every day...We have no idea what else to do. We add Prime and feed only once Everything else reads normal and we are lost as to what to do or not to do. We have tried everything...please hopefully someone can help us remedy this

Has the tank been cycled completely and u shud def have like a fluval filter . Doing constant water changes is not good. Do it once a week consistently and no more than 20 percent . If he she is acting normal and eating and u do only one water change a week and have the proper cycle time b4 u added the fish eventually it will even out. Fish do seem to acclimate to water parametersgoing a lil up n down the important thing is that the water parameters don’t change drastically in a small Amt of time. I have a feeling the daily water changes r the problem Good luck

I have a pair of black belts, one is 5 inches one is 8 inches and they had babies about one week ago. Second batch. These ones I think will survive.

I meant what i said about me putting a single male blackbelt cichlid with a male (largemouth bass) that I've already spawned to keep the male blackbelt cichlid in check. Y'all black my comments on this cause you know its the truth the blackbelt cichlid is a bully and y'all can't except the facked that a male largemouth bass wont tolerate being bullied.
  • Wolfman🐺 - 2020-04-02

I would say 4 auratus need a least a 55 gallon tank, and the smallest I would say for one by it self is a 30 gallon.
  • Anonymous - 2016-11-11
Way, way too small. Not to say they wouldn't be alive in a 10 gallon, but that it is not recommended for them for good reasons. The store I work for suggests 29 gallons for just one of these.

My dad got rid of mine. We only have one tank, so we had to combine mine, my dad's and my brother's. My red devil killed my dad's turquoise severum, and he was pissed.
