I’ve had my Red-tail tinfoil barb for almost 2 years, and it’s about 5 inches. You don’t need to keep them in a 100 gallon tank. Fish are like plants, they only grow as big as the pot (or tank) that their planted in. I keep mine in a 30 gallon tank with 6 other fish. A rainbow shark, 2 orange gourami, 2 tiger barb, and 1 blue green tiger barb. I even bought the red-tail tinfoil barb, rainbow shark, orange gourami, and tiger barb at the same time from pet land (2 years ago) and I’ve had zero trouble. Except for when I tried to add 3 little blue green tiger barb and my shark ate them because the where so little. Well, hope my comment helped with questions they have!

This is terrible advice, fish don't grow to the size of the tank, it's a myth. What you will do is stunt the growth of the fish but the internal organs will keep growing till eventually the fish dies an early death

I had tin foils i ended up getting rid of them because they got huge they were in a 55 gallon fish tank they did not stop growing they were getting stressed because they got 2 big & not enough rm 4 them in it

Just because it has survived your horrible approach to fishkeeping Rylee does not mean it is thriving. Huge difference between it. Your fish are in too small of a tank and by not recognizing this you are actually doing more harm to them than good. And please stop trying to spread misinformation on a very credible site. You Rylee are ridiculous.

My brother in-law got two silver cat fish and one of them is just swimming up rite and his dorsal fin is redish and I think is blood ??? Not sure the other fishes are poking him and he just swims to the filter bubble's is he died ???

Hello, I realize this was awhile ago, the same thing happened to my sons Columbia’s Shark, Wayne. He went to feed him this morning and his first dorsal fin is all red and he’s floating upright. Breathing and everything seems okay but he’s not swimming. What was your outcome?

Your tank is more then likely containing to many nitrates and nitrites. A simple way of fixing this is to take 30 ml of your fish tank water to the nearest fish shop and majority of fish shops can do tank water tests which will tell you what your tank is containing to much of and they can direct you in the right way of showing you what treatments that you can put in the tank every certain amount of days to eliminate what is making your fish struggle. Within a week you should go back to the store and test the again to get a opinion on how much your tank has improved and how much longer you will need to apply the treatment to your tank so your fish is healthy. Also note down to the pet shop anything that has appeared to be unusual on your tank
