I got 3 bunches of Anacharis last week and they are already growing to the top of my tank. when I got them they had mostly all brown leaves on them, now they are all green. it is a very good plant; hardy and pretty. I would definitely recommend this plant!

'Aleen'. Hi Aleen, can you please tell me if you can, the specifics to setting up a tank for Aancharis? For example, temperature, does it need a filter, a light and how much light if needed. My husband loves this plant and I would like to get as much information so I can give him all the supplies and information he will need to make a tank of his very own. As much information you may have would be truly appreciated. Thank you, carman

I've heard it said this is a good beginner plant, but my plant didn't take long to die. My fish seem very healthy, so I don't think the water is toxic or anything. I haven't really had luck with any plants though. The fish did nibble on it a good bit though. That could have been the culprit.

Hi Julia. It´s very strange to have this plant just die. It´s a strong plant that if not getting nutrients from the sand or gravel will launch 'aerial' roots to get it. Probably your acuarium ecosystem aint complete, maybe your biological filter is not doing the job or you are not cleaning it properly. I bought four single plants in a very bad shape and are growing great.I use regular river sand, the one used to mix with concrete cement to build houses and freeways and all my plants are growing just fine. No fertilizers or CO2 added.

I was at my LFS the other day and got talking about plants with one of the employees. Any plant that has that reddish color tends to be a little more fragile and hard to maintain. The redness in it is caused by iron, if your substrate does not contain iron consider adding a supplement to your water or substrate! If you are looking for hardy and easy to care for plants, green is the way to go!

Hello Aquarists...I have 2 bunches of Japanese Rush I have had since I set up my Aquarium. I have discovered the Rush will naturally died back. Keeping my eye on the plants, they are a sparce variety and great for filling those larger spaces which require just a grassy plant or two. My Aquarium is now 3 months old.

The Madagascar Lace plant is a very nice plant.
I wonder if you could ship one bulb/plant to me in Qatar (arabian gulf).
If this is possible then I will give you my credit card number to expedite shipping.

It depends on what your light levels and nutrient supply are, most likely will though, it is a super hardy plant. Happy fishkeeping!

DEFINITLY a possibility. I have one in a 60 gallon the tank is 25 inches tall 4 foot long and my val. has grown. From the back it covers some of the top of the tank and it's actually coming down the front of my tank! 1 of the 'arms' as I call them has to be close to 3 feet. It keeps having little babies too. I like it, neat hardy plant. Get one and try it out bud. Good luck.

I added a dwarf lily to my 55 gallon low light tank about 5 weeks ago. Very low light, only 1wpg. Truly impressive plant! Beautiful coloration and within this short amount of time I already have over 20 lily pads on the surface!

After buying one Ruby Melon Swordplant, I ran back the next day to the same pet store and bought two more. They are indeed a beautiful plant. They form a rosette shape for the front or mid-tank area. They have leaves that may remain open, while others have leaves that stay upright. I have had these plants buried in the substrate without fertilizer for about a month and they are lovely. No leaf lose either by fish nibbling or water conditions. If you can find a dealer, get one you will be enthralled with the stripped leaves and variations in colors.

this is a plant with high tolerance for just about everything. it doesnt much care about pH, lighting, etc. The roots grow unbelievably quickly, so be warned it will be serious competition for surrounding plants and a potential problem for an undergravel filter. The one thing this plant really hates is to be crowded by its own or another kind. if this happens, it will drop all of its leaves except the top rosette, which isnt a great look. Also avoid bruising the stems during maintinance.

there are many ways to use it. wisteria can be used as a groundcover in the front of the aquarium, or in a bunch in the middle or back. it is interesting when contrasted with big broad or long straightleaves of a different shade of green or red (i.e. ozelot sword, or vallis).

finally, avoid buying cuttings that have been cultivated above ground, which will display large roughly outlined oval leaves, as these cuttings will take longer to adjust to their new environment.

I remember always having anacharis in all the fish tanks we had when I was growing up. As a child, I worked in a neighborhood tropical fish store and remember that anacharis outsold all other plants many times over, mostly due to the hardiness of it. That was all in California.
I now live in Washington (State). I was shocked to find out that I couldnt buy anachris in the state of Washington as it was put on some list naming it a weed, and therefore is illegal to sell.
I have yet to find any plant that even comes close to it
