I recently bought micro sword online to add to my 29 Gallon fresh water aquarium. They came in 6 little bunches that looked pretty bad when they came but as they started to mature in my tank they spread like weeds and gave my tank a great natural look. I have a 20 watt POWER-GLO which promotes coral, invertebrate and plant growth. I also added a CO2 defuser to my tank which i feel really promotes plant growth. I am very pleased with the look MicroSword has given my aquarium and would highly recommend this for any planted aquarium.

I feel the same way. If you look around at pet shops you'll notice the differ-ence in condition, sizes and prices of plants. They are slow growing but are very easy to grow. They remain small and make wonderful front plants. If you plant them close together, they fill in nicely. They also wave ever so gently with the current in the tank. "Deborah DeRosa"

Hi I've got a question about that plant. I have got 79.4 Gallon tank no CO2 injection yet, but fine grain Prodac gravel made especially for plants and 160Watt T8 tubes. 3 of them are Osram 840, one is Grolux sylvania for plants and one is Filips Aqua relle. Do you think that in that conditions I can grow sword grass?

3 years ago, found some anacharis in a lake near my house for use in my 700G backyard goldfish pond. It survives the Seattle area winters and has propagated well, thrived and multiples, it is mostly free floating. It is more of a cold water plant as it does not do well in my 55G tropical tank as only disintegrates and dies and creates a mess with the dead floating leaves.

Will the water onion be OK with a Betta? Can the bulb be left on the top of the tank to grow?

The Betta should be fine with the plant. They are bulbs, so should be planted in a substrate, but their long leaves will grow to the surface and trail along it.

African Cichlids are mostly rock dwellers or open water swimmers, and many do best in a rock type decor. However some of the Central and South American Cichlids do fine with plants, just read about the behaviors of each fish to make sure that your fish aren't diggers/burrowers. The selection is up to you. You can choose some tall ones for the back of the tank, like Val's, swordplants usually make good mid tank selections, and grasses and small plants like Anubias work well in the forground.

I have 2 amazon swords in my 55 gal tank and they take up about a third of it each. They are a beautiful and easy to care for plant. I have about 3 1/2 inches of eco complete substrate on the bottom and 4 - 4 foot fluorescent tubes above. My 2 siamese algae eaters love lounging on the large leaves. A must have plant but they do grow quite large.

I have had my two Amazon Swords in my fancy goldfish 55-gallon tank for about 3 months now and they have been doing well. All of a sudden, they both developed reddish-brown spots all over the older outer leaves. Have you ever had that happen? They have plenty of roots now and one has produced a shoot with new baby plants on it that I will anchor to the bottom of the tank as they grow larger. I was concerned there might be a disease so I cut off all the leaves with spots on them. What do you think is going on? any reply would be appreciated. thanks.
