corrie - 2011-07-14 I am thinking of getting a leather coral but I am unsure as I have anamones as well and sometimes they go walk about will they kill or make each over sick if the touch???

Anonymous - 2011-08-16 The anemones should stay in one place, usually where you put them, if there is enough light. If they keep wandering about, they are unhappy about something and you can take it as a sign that the conditions, mainly light, should be changed. In most cases keeping leathers and anemones together is not a problem.

Be careful if a clownfish decides to use a S. glaucum as a surrogate anemone. The irritation of the clown can prevent the coral from expanding. In this case removal of the clown, or screening off the coral from the fish may be needed.
I have a brown powder tang nipping at my corals, incl my green toadstool. I hope when in the larger tank I'm building, he'll leave the corals alone. We'll see.
Suzanne - 2010-09-13 I'm fairly new at having a saltwater tank. I absolutely love it. I have a toadstool coral that has doubled in size in 6 months. Yesterday it collapsed and I got it to stand up again. It stayed up all day under the lights and about an hour 1/2 after the lights went off it collapsed again. Is something wrong?
I also have a star polyp that has been in distress since I moved my tank a month ago. It still has color but it's not opening up like it used to.
Does anyone have any advice?

Oger91 - 2010-10-29 Leathers commonly go through dormant states where they will not bud or bloom. Usually there is a slime coat that will covers the coral, especially when stressed. It will revive in about a week or so. It will be fine, I would check for a nitrate spike though, it could also be caused by that. Do a 25% change and wait. Patience is the key.
shaun obrien - 2010-10-09 I have had my 125 gal. reef tank up for about 8 years my toadstool was thriving now it seems to be deteriorating quickly it is attached to 2 big rocks so I can't take it out and treat it do you have any idea of what I can do?
Laurie Jane - 2007-09-16 I love my little toadstool coral. I started my first big saltwater aquarium about 6 months ago, and this little coral was one of my first additions. It has now grown to a much larger size and has done very well in my tank. I would recommend this coral to any beginner reef aquarist.
Curtis - 2006-06-09 This is a very easy to keep soft coral. It can come in a few different colours, right now I have 2 small yellow guys. They are very cute, the moment I saw it in the store I knew I had to have it. Very easy to feed, doesn't need lots of light, looks GREAT under actinic :). I recommend trying to find an aquacultured variety.
