Just bought a Ritteri Anemone and last night my husband found it on the tank filter. Don't know how long he was being sucked up......not sure if it is okay. How do I know if it is going to live? What can I do to help it? Any advice and or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Doddie

If it is not torn up too bad, it should be okay. Give it a quiet place in the aquarium and see if it attaches itself. Some anemones will recover from some pretty bad injuries, others will not.

Thank you for your response. The ritteri anemone did survive. Within eight hours it looked 85% better. We got a guard for our filter so it won't happen again. We were lucky, now it is happy as can be in our tank.

I have been growing this species for roughly 7 years, it started about the size of a quarter and has grown over 20 inches tall and 25 inches wide. Often overlooked cuz of its color but gives a reef tank a beautiful natural look.

Ok the favia wow,so many twists turns and they colors are unique, this coral under a 20k metal halide looks awesome,my favorite thing to watch is how the coral acts when you feed the tank. This coral actually smells the juices of the mysis shrimp or clams and it sends out really long sweeper tentacles to capture food, inside each maze circle is a mouth and it has no problem opening its mouth to intake what it catches in its tentacles. Don't place corals within 6 inches of it either due to the fact that them sweeper tentacles pack a potent sting. This coral grows very well on the sand.

i wanted to comment on the torch coral. It is my favorite in the lsp class. I am currently growing a yellow tipped torch under 130 watts of power compact lighting. This coral is an amazing beautiful creature. My torch loves to be fed frozen mysis shrimp. It currently has 2 heads they are developing into 4 heads.previously i had a small torch under 250 watts of hqi metal halide. That coral became a basketball sized showpiece. I must add they can grow under moderate light, but metal halide will really make them thrive as far as color and super calcification.

How can clams move?

The clam sorta burrows its 'foot' (body) out of the shell and into the sandy bottom and pushes itself in a forward motion. It uses the current in waters to carry it along.

The glass anemone is so annoying!! I have been removing them myself, but like they say remove one and two grow back!! I moved some rocks from my 50 gal tank to my 30 gal tank 3 days ago. The rocks that I moved to the 30 gal tank DID NOT have any glass anemone on them. I just checked my water level (my tanks are connected, by water circulating to filter water better) guess what I found,,,, about 10 glass anemones have grown on 1 rock. I have watched several videos on youtube on how to get rid of them. Today my mission is to go to the pharmacy hoping they will sell me a syringe so I can use the same procedure that I seen on youtube. Yes they are pretty to have in your saltwater tanks but they can harm your fish and other anemones. MY ADVICE TO YOU,,,,GET RID OF THEM QUICKLY!! Thank YOU!

I've had mine for about 3 months, although it was owned by my co-worker for a number of years. I love it, it is my prize coral, with a maroon body and neon green tips. If you're thinking of buying this coral it's a good addition, but placement in the tank can be tough. Just try to face it up so ALL the polyps get light, not just the biggest ones. And try to place it somewhere without TOO much flow, but it does need some flow. I recommend feeding it squid once a week, a little bit to each poyup head, and maybe zooplankton once a week, but not on the same day.
