"I am a very experienced goldfish keeper and have been keeping goldfish since I was at least 3 or 4. Goldfish usually are the first pet owned by most people and are treated as if they are a piece of lego. Goldfish are hardy, cheap, some beautiful and live for an exceptionally long time, especially shubunkins. Shubunkins are indeed very hardy and very beautiful. I have a male, 9 cm (3.5 inches) Subunkin goldfish, that I have had for 7 years. I got him as a gift from my grandma when I was 6. Believe it or not my shubunkin is my oldest pet alive. He lives with many different fish because he does live in a tropical tank. If you are willing to purchase a shubunkin or any other goldfish, be prepared to care for them because they might live as long as you. "
