"I had a tiger oscar for several years. Her only surviving tank mate after less than a yr of having her was a pleco. She wasn't even 2in when i got her and was 9 1/2 inches at the time of her death. After the pleco passed, she lost most interest in eating and became very withdrawn. She passed about 4 months after he did, which was a very sad time for me and my mom. Oscars are honestly my favorite variety of fish. They have the most personality out of all the others I have had. I have often referred to them as being aquatic dogs because all the oscars I have had required lots of attention and would throw tantrums until shown as much as they thought they needed. They are a great fish for people who want interactive pets but can't have nonaquatic critters. oh, and they will eat veggies (frozen spinach was mine's fave) if started on them when young."
