"I bought a pleco a while ago and i did not have any caves or hiding places for it so all he did was cling on to the tank wall or gravel all day. He was doing fine eating the algae off the substrate and tank walls. After about a month i bought a cave for him to hide in and after a couple of weeks i noticed the algae starting to build up on the plants. So i realized that he was spending ALL of his time in the cave and not cleaning algae from the tank anymore. I removed the cave and he is once again cleaning the tank. I know they are nocternal fish but he was not leaving his hiding place for anything. He is only 2" long, maybe he won't be so nervous once he grows some more."
