"I keep the electric yellow Neo in my 53-litre tank solely who has arrived a month or so ago. He has been adapting to the environment well (learned to ask for food by splashing the water within a week). After the death of Chanelle who is of the same species, the tank has been cleared, cleaned, dried and then exposed to direct sunlight for three weeks before his introduction. Currently, the tank bottom is not lined but there are several hiding places. Yesterday morning I noticed that Neo spits his food out after taking them in. His teeth turned darker red. His slime layer got peeled off at many points over his exterior (all on the head and body except one on the fail fin) (the white falloffs are 1.5mm across and 2cm apart on average) with the backward body worse. His back fin has a red base. He also raced through the tank and glanced off the glass bottom and sides is response to the supposed itch but improved today that he only circles quickly for several seconds when touched. In addition, Neo changed his sleeping location (where he finds most comfort, like home) from the rock cave to the corner below the filter inlet. During the day, he shows unusual interest in the filter outlet that he tries to swim up the down-pouring water. He also behaved like Chanelle, swimming in a shape of the number 8 against the tank front when idle, and approaches the TV next to the tank when it is switched on. He took a nap this afternoon for 1 hour 13 minutes which is not supposed to happen under daylight on a fish."
