"I have a 55 gallon tank with two goldfish in it and a few small bottom feeders. One of the goldfish, a comet, I have had for a while. About a month ago I bought a black moor goldfish to accompany it. Just a couple days ago the black moor's whole eye fell out. I noticed this but wasn't able to fix it-- it was late at night and the goldfish still seemed fine. I didn't recover the missing eye (I couldn't find it) and did not think a water change would be appropriate in this situation, as it would probably kill the fish with the missing eye. I went to a pet store and asked about it, and they said it would be fine. When I got home the next day, some of the smaller fish had died with fin rot and white fungal growth. I bought some chemicals and treated the fish for Ichthyophthirius multifilis (ich). The fish were fine for another day-- still covered in white fungus, but swimming around and able to eat. Today, I woke up and checked on them. The black moor seems to be the only 'fine' one. The larger comet goldfish is lying at the bottom. When it tries to swim upwards, it appears to have seizures. As soon as it swims up, it starts twitching and flipping over in the water and falls straight down to the bottom. One of the bottom feeders is doing the same thing but at a progressed level. When it swims up, it twitches around for a bit and then flips straight on it's back, falls to the bottom and doesn't move for minutes at a time. As well as this, I have noticed that a white foam has grown over all the fish's eyes. I have looked online for any disease that resulted in these symptoms, but could find none. Is there any cheap (and effective) way to fix this?"
