"My gourami is not doing well. It's been hiding and not eating for the past 4 weeks or more and then swims fast to the top of the tank for a mouthful of air and then retreats to its hiding spot. Every now and again it comes out but it seems to be getting worse, laying on its side gasping for air. Others have said dropsy but I'm not sure. It seems to be common with this species. someone said to add salt to the water but im scared to. I only noticed the change in my fish when my son decided to add shells he found from the beach, plus my husband changed the whole lot of water instead of 25%. So i hope these factors haven't killed my fish.. this will be the second one ;("
