"I have two keets... a male I named Peter 2, and a female I named Penny. Peter 2 was a gift from my son, but Peter looked sad. He actually is my second parakeet who I had named Peter....but he died and I was so sad. Peter loved to talk and had a marvelous vocabulary... kept me company and I loved him as a friend. But the second Peter 2, is different. He probably was older and when I bought another keet (turned out to be a female) he was ecstatic. But this pair then became bonded and then left me out. This happens. Keets are a community bird and thrive (in the wild they live in flocks) but aren't interested in having a human bond. That's sad for me, but I realized Peter 2 wasn't interested in anything until he had company. Watching their togetherness is a learning experience but I enjoy them and I talk to them all the time... even sing to them. Often when singing I notice that the male begins to do his 'chattering' along with me. Lots of fun having them."
