I found my snow corn snake while visting a mate at night. I almost dismissed it as a stick, I passed it, then walked back and it made a break for it! I caught the little bugger and took it home. The wife and I both fell in love with it straight away (me a little more!). We own lizards (beardies) 5 of them, but never a snake. We've done lots of reading up on them but are still not 100% confident! Think it's a boy and he's never warm! He was 10" long so still young, but after 2 day's he ate 2 small pinkies so I know he is happy enough. Hasn't got his own viv yet but he's in a large rodent tank inside a LARGE viv (controlled heat & light & separate thermometer). Waiting for his viv to be built! Any advise would be greatly apprecated. thanks

I've had my snow corn snake for about two months now. He's about twelve inches, and he's extremely tame. I named him Alexi (after the lead guitarist and vocalist in Children of Bodom), and I quickly fell in love with my snake. The only problem is that since I've had him, he has refused to eat and he takes no interest at all in any food we try to feed him.

I just recently got a albino snow corn snake. I named her Roxy. I fell in love with her the first time I seen her. shes a creamy pink colour with ruby red eyes. I was sorta afraid to pick her up at first (not because I'm afraid; I've had a snake before) but because she's a baby & so tiny still. It'll be my first time feeding her tomarrow I'm kinda excited & nervous lol. She's such a gentle snake & all my friends love her. :) I hope someone who's interested in getting one see's this & realizes how beautiful they really are <3

I've had my snow corn snake since he was a hatchling about 12inches long. We named him hoodeny, now he's pushing 5feet long. Unlike my python, he never turns down a good meal.

I have a snow corn snake. He's about 6 or 7 months old and his name is darnell. He's getting so big already and is a great handler. He has never bitten and my mate keeps telling me he's great. My mate has 5 corn snakes, lol, he's crazy. I'm going to get another corn snake like darnell to pair up with him.

My neighbour called me for help as he had a snake in his garage. I immediately recognised it as a constrictor but did not know what it was. I carefully took it to the middle of an adjoining vacant ground and released it. A week later he phoned to say it was back. I then took it home and searching the internet established it as an albino corn snake. As I am from S. Africa, it must have been released by someone who had lost interest or an escapee. After a few weeks it is eating like a pig and giving us much enjoyment. With regard to names for snakes. My son had one which he called "Fluffy" The name is possibly unique but always brought a smile to those who asked the name.

I just got a snow corn snake for my b-day and no, I didn't name him anything lame or having to do with snow like apparently everyone else has. His name is "Mr. Neitzche Vonnegut Bukowski" because I couldn't pick one. So now he has a full name and is apparently pseudo related to one of my favorite authors. He's the most beautiful and docile snake I've ever met. Right now he's only big enough to eat frozen baby mice but I think soon I'll be testing him to see if he can make a kill himself (maybe a pinky or something). So yeah, I'm in love with my snake. He's like the dog I'v always wanted. He's out of his tank almost constantly because while I sit and watch tv he'll curl up on my terry cloth robe and sleep on my lap. When I clean my room he turns into a bracelet, lol. Anyway the info on this page was incredibly helpful, so thank you.

I have recently purchased my very first snake, EVER, and I have chosen a snow corn snake, and I must say HE'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL I have ever seen. We have named him BOB as we wanted a name that no-one would forget, and so far, no-one has hahaha. At first I was very frightened about handling him thinking he was going to bite me at every opportunity, but he has never given me a reason to be scared of him, and I can feel a bond with him already (does that sound weird). I no longer feel scared of him and I am handling him now as often as I can... apart from when he's ready for feeding! I hope me and BOB have a long and happy relationship, and I can definitely say I would love to have another, but for now I'm happy.

In our class we have 32 snakes, and before I was afraid. But I chose Frosty to be the one I take care of. He is a snow corn snake and he is the coolest snake ever. I am no longer afraid.

I have had a snow corn snake named tango for about 2 years now and it has never bitten. It is one of the best corn snakes to get.

I have a snow corn snake named striker. He is a great pet and I wouldn't trade him for any other snake in the world. He is great and has never attempted to bite me or any of my brothers. He is very gentle and I would recommend a corn snake to anybody who wants a small, easy to care for, fun, and loving pet!

We've had our snow corn snake, Snoflake, for about two years now. When we first got her she was about an inch longer than a dollar bill and now she is around 2 1/2 feet long. She's the best-tempered snake I've ever seen. She's still a little head shy but we are trying to work her out of that. We also have a cat, and they get along pretty good. Zoey, the cat is curious to find out what Snoflake tastes like and Snoflake is curious about what Zoey smells like. My best advice to you if you have both a corn snake and a cat is to make sure they know each other so she (the cat) knows the snake is a part of the family. And make sure you keep a watchful eye on both of them when you have the snake out of her cage.

We have just recently purchased two Albino Corn Snakes. They are a couple, and have been together since nearly birth. They're friendly, easy to take care of, and they are completely safe. At first I was shocked, and a little afraid to hold them, but they wrapped themselves around me on their own, and I've been attached since. Owning such brilliant, low maintenence, interesting pets has vanished any fear of snakes of mine. I'd recommend these pets to any snakes seeking owner.

My snow corn, Ayame, is only about five months old and he's already 1 1/2 ft. long. He's very nice. I got him in December and whenever I took him out he would go into my shirt sleeves since it's so warm in there. He was less than a foot long then. He also likes climbing all over my face and on my glasses. He's starting to show some yellow colouring on his belly and the tip of his nose. He's very well tempered. I don't even take him out of his house to feed him, I just put him in a certain place in it and he knows he's gonna be fed. He's very smart and has only bitten once when I woke him up too suddenly.

The snow corn is just a color morph of corn snakes. It's personality is not dependent on it's color. I've had corn snakes of other colors that are just as nice.

I have had a snow corn for the last year and half. She was just three weeks old when I got her and I only picked her because she was found underneath her tipped up water pot and she was all soggy, so I felt sorry for her. She has always been a friendly snake although she is scatty and doesnt seem to like water. I love her very much and would recommend a snow corn to anyone. My sister has a caramel corn and it is more jittery and doesn't like much contact.

I am new to owning a snake. A friend told me to start with a snowcorn, so i did. It has only been 2 days now and i love this snake. It will not bite or constrict, atleast not yet. She is about a 1yr. old and almost a foot and a half if not more. She goes into my right arm sleeve, lays across my back, and only shows a little of her face out of the left sleeve. A cool snake!

Ive had my Snow Corn Snake for about 1 1/2 Years. He's the friendliest snake i've ever seen. He's never snapped at me or constricted or anything. He's timid and very fast, but he always slows once he gets used to me. We've had some funny moments. He went To the bathroom on me... TWICE...Lol Yea, it was messy... =) but I feed him 3 mice every week. I would recommend a Snow Corn Snake, just always feed them and just sit and talk to them every once in a while. i guess i dunno.. =) lol mine seems to like it. He's wonderful towards my friends too.

I'm new having a snowcorn, she's just a baby thouugh, fed once a fortnight but a fair sized rat. She is grumpy and likes to hide for 3 or 4 days after she's eaten, then she comes out of hiding and likes to play and be handled and give kisses. Very docile and contented snakes.

i have a snowcorn. i just bought a second snake today, a normal basic corn. im taking it back tomorrow and swapping it for a snow corn because it has an attitude problem and i just dont like it. snowcorns are definitely the best.

I have had my albino snow corn snake for nearly two years. He's such a friendly snake and he likes to be handled and the attention he gets. He is so easy to look after and he downs his food every time. So if there is anyone out there who is thinking of getting a snake, i'd recommend the corn snake due to its docile nature, because they're easy to look after and there are many different breeds to choose from.

Joanne 2007-03-14

my snow cornsnake was very friendly and gentle my first few days i had him. then i fed him for the first time correctly, and after that about a day and a half later, i tried handling him and he snapped at me. its been a few days and every time i try to handle him he snaps at me. he has become very aggresive within only a day.

I have had a corn snake for about a month now and I have found out it likes mince beef straight from the butcher. so if you are stuck for food try it. Its is like it's having lizard, my snake put loads away.

My baby corn is a very gentle snake. I really like it and my kids love it. I could not ever find a nice snake like the one i have now.

FYI, I have had my corn snake for 4 years now and just recently put her into a much bigger aquarium with lots of stretching room. One thing I didn't think of was the humidity. More area less humidity. Expensive lesson to learn as my ER doctor informed me to soak her once or twice a week in warm bath water to help illiminate low humidity problems and aide in shedding of their skin. Also, no need to use vitamin supplement sprays on a snake. They are one of the only species we feed correctly.

The only case I've heard of the snakes eating other snakes came from a book by Bill Love, a leading herptologist. If you feed your multiple snakes at the same time, there is a large chance that they will both/all go for the same food item. Generally, while eating the mouse, one snake can begin to eat the other, simply because they are consuming the mouse, which the other snake is also attached to. I feed my snakes in separate Rubbermaid containers anyway, so that they don't associate the opening of their cage with food, to prevent them from striking. I haven't heard too much on cannibalism in the cases of breeding, though that would be possible as well. - Monica

Moncia 2006-03-10

yeah in rare cases corn snakes will eat each other. There is a bigger chance if you are breeding them that this will happen. other than that good care sheet.

i am a snake owner and we own many snakes at this time and i wanted all of you to know that I think you should NEVER use a hot rock for a snake, the temp gets to high and can cause bad burns on your snake. Just thought i would let you all know, just want the best for all snakes!

Katie 2006-01-22

at my local petshop, one of the baby snow corns ATE another baby corn. i found it VERY interesting :)
