Hello, my name is Ashley and I have 4 rabbits. Only one is litter trained and that is my new zeland rabbit named rambo. We love him, he is one of the best I ever had. He has a very good temperment. He got his name rambo because he is known for his ways of escaping. And he does have an attitude sometimes. My other rabbits are mini rex's. They are adorable, but not nearly as outgoing as Rambo. I think he is a mix though because he has one floppy ear, and the other stands right up. I dont know what would cause that though.

I just got a NZ about 3 weeks ago. Considering what they are bred for, I am quite pleased with mine. Her name is Asa, and she is quite amazing. I have never had rabbits, and I am shocked at how affectionate she is and how good she is with people. I know she will get quite large, but she has a personality I never expected. I am glad I got her, instead of a typical "pet" rabbit. I also have a Lionhead dwarf, and even though she is great as a pet as well, she is not quite as bonded to me as Asa.

Nikkie 2009-06-04

We have had many rabbits in the past but our NZ Ollie seems to have the best attitude and the sweetest personality out of all of them. He has the free run of our house most of the day and knows to go to his cage to "do his business". He loves to cuddle while we watch tv at night and does really well with our 2 sons. I think he especially loves his veggies that we give him every night before he goes back into his cage for bedtime. Anyhow, my point is, if youre wanting a rabbit and cant decide what breed, NZ rabbits are the way to go!

Danielle 2009-02-28

I have a white fured red eyed New Zealand rabbit! Her name is Albie, and she also loves cords. We found her 2 years ago underneath our car and it was like love at first sight. She gets in alot of trouble but I would never give her up

nicole 2009-02-18

I have a white new zealand named casper. He is the best rabbit. He's potty trained and very well house trained. I can never seem to keep him away from cords. I wouldn't trade him for the world!

Jenny 2008-12-05

I have a full grown albino bunnie. His name is crumb. He loves going to the motocross track. I brought him to the vet and I got him dyed pink! He follows me everywhere, he even wears a harness and walks on a leash.

Krisna 2008-08-13

I LOVE my NZ rabbits! They are so sweet and they follow me around whereever I go. They are both potty-trained, too!

ABBY 2008-03-27

Our little "Honey Bun" is 1/2 New Zealand and 1/2 Mini Lop. She is very gentle, active & clever. Her name is Kiwi, she loves apples & pears and is starting on her litter training. Kiwi loves to be held & cuddled, especially while we watch TV.

Hi, great site! 10x's

bob 2008-03-06

New Zealand Rabbits are wonderful pets. I have had over 4 of them and i have shown them for over 3 years. I love working with them. They are very good show rabbits if you are interested in showing. They are fun to handle and they are very sweet animals to have. They do very well in shows. The thing that i like about the shows is that you have thounsands of other New Zealands to go against. It is a lot of fun.

Katie Dukeman 2007-12-11

My black 1-year old female new Zealand is a very kind and a very fast little bunnie. She is so much fun to hang out with.

matthew 2007-11-29

My New Zealand white is very calm and very nice.

Verity Johnson 2007-11-12

I have a wonderful cute and very intellegent NZ called Lily. She's the best thing that ever happened to me! She's a house rabbit and loves to watch television with us. She's changed our lives for the better! I'd never have any other kind of pet now! she's a little houndini and she knows what she wants!

Karen 2007-08-23

I have a black New Zealand Rabbit and she is the cutest thing you would have seen in your life.

matthew 2007-08-14

i got a new new zealand rabbit yesterday and absolutely love it. my dog on the other hand does not like having a white fuzzy thing like her roaming around. we asked her if there was a new white thing in the house and she just layed her head down and moaned, which means i don't want to talk about it. but i think she will warm up to it (^_^)

allyssa 2007-07-11

they poop so much, so you have clean them up about twice a week.

rylee 2007-07-11

Our white new zealand is very lovable and he loves to lick your fingers, by the way his name is Thumper.

melissa weissrock 2007-07-07

I have two new zealand rabbits! Snowball and Zoey, they are the funniest rabbits ever. New Zealand bunnys are great pets. They are so nice and fun to play with. I absolutly adore my rabbits.

Alyssa 2007-07-01

I'm 10 and my rabbit has a cute attitude.

michelle 2007-06-23

I had raise New Zealands & Other Rabbits about 20 years. I have had beautiful Blue New Zealands.

Anonymous 2007-05-17

We have raised New Zealands for five years. Our children show them at the county fair each year. Last summer we lost the first two we started with. Our doe, Fluffy was nearly 40 pounds when she died. She got longer and bigger with each pregnancy. She was not over weight, just big. She was our best doe and we really miss her. We also lost our favorite buck at that time, Taz. He was a great buck. Both of them were very sweet, loving bunnies. Though they are gone, we have some of their offspring as well as some newly acquired bunnies that we just love. Hairy is one of our favorites. He is a big, cuddly buck. I also have a black New Zealand that we acquired in a strange way. Last year at the county fair, they had some little bunnies in the children's petting zoo. They sold them once the fair was over. We were told that he was a dwarf rabbit of some kind, but no one new exactly what. Well let me tell, he got bigger, and bigger, and bigger. This year at the fair we asked the "rabbit experts" (the judge and 4H rabbit leader) what he might be and they said he was a black new zealand. We just love him. His name is Mocha. Have fun with your bunnies.

Rhonda Fairchild 2007-04-13

Hi there. I have 2 white female new zealand rabiits. Babs and Fluffy =) They have great personalities and are just the sweetest animals. I also had a grey Netherland dwarf called Bunny that somehow managed to breed with one of my girls. Lets just say that the babies were incredibly adorable! I'm glad the babies survived cos my drawf rabbit just recently passed away. I was really happy to have a baby bunny that pretty much looked like my dwarf... only bigger =D This site is great, tons of great info.

Hi there! I own 5 buns at present; all lovely in their own way but none as docile and sweet as Button. Button is a New Zealand bun with lop ears and I found him at Pets at Home, where he had been living for around 6months. I would see him every time I went to buy rabbit food and felt so sorry for this sweet, tiny (as he WAS!!) bunny. He played on my conscience so much, that one day I decided to buy him. I searched the petshop, but to no avail. When I spoke to the manager, he pointed out that the rabbit had "health problems" and was residing "in the back". I demanded to see him. I was presented, from the cold store-room, a pitiful, thin bun with angry abcesses on his ears (inflicted by a guinea pig). They were reluctant to sell him to me as it was "against policy" to sell sick animals. I warned them that I would report them to the RSPCA.. Cutting a long story short; I am the proud owner of THE cuddliest bunny in the world. Button has full access to the garden, where he leaps and twists in the air in sheer happiness. He also has a girlfriend, Sophie; a Netherland Dwarf! I love this bun to pieces!

Amanda Philpott 2007-02-25

Angel 2006-10-12

At first I was like most people and wanted a dwarf or a lop rabbit, not a "plain white rabbit". However, I wanted a gentle, easy-going compaion rabbit for my hyper English Spot, and personality wise, a New Zealand at the local shelter fit the bill. I have grown to love her and now I want more NZ's!! My bun is gentle and easy going, big and cuddly and I have come to really appreciate her white fur and red eyes. Please don't pass up the chance to adopt one of these wonderful buns if you get the chance!

Karen 2006-09-30

I LOVE MY NEW ZEALAND BUNNIES -- I HAVE A BUCK NAMED CEASAR AND HE COMES TO ME WHEN I CALL -- WE LIKE TO CUDDLE ON THE COUCH -- HE HUGS ME AND ALL OF MINE LAY DOWN FOR DAILY BACK SCRATCHES -- I LOVE MY NEW ZEALANDS!

HOLLYE BOWEN 2006-08-14

i had a new zealand rabbit for 5 years. she didnt get very big but she never bit anyone. if you want a place for her to run around you should think about getting a child playpen, its big enough. you can set it in the back yard and watch her play for hours at a time. i go swimming while she sits in the shade and eats grass, she loves it. her name was ceres, she died a while ago and now i am getting another bunny. this time i think i will get either a havana or a silver marten rabbit, check out that page to! i miss her

Rebekah 2006-07-25

New Zealand rabbits are great rabbits. my problem was that mine did bite, but they are really great rabbits. I am wondering what would have led to her biting because I never heard before that New Zealands didnt bite

trisha 2006-07-14

I got my new zealand, Chanel, 4 months ago. She is young and I saved her life, her former owner used to beat her for no reason. It was said to be that he was crazy. When I found her she had cuts and wounds all over her, her fur was coming loose, she was also blind in one eye, and she was in really bad shape. She was poorly fed and so skinny you could see her bones stick out. She was also very scared of people, thinking that they would beat her too. When they found her not only she was beaten but so were others. all around her former home there were dead rabbits all over who were also beaten. Justice is now served and the former owner was arested for animal cruelty. The vet said that she was so close to dying. I'm so grateful to have her.

We just got a new baby New Zealand, red. She is 6 weeks old. We got her from a 4-h show where our daughter was showing her Hotot. Which won grand champion for her class. Her first one! We named the baby " Chi Tea". She is the color of it too. She is so sweet. She loves to play with the bells and balls in her cage. We know it is very important for them to have playtime with different things, keeps the mind going! We brought our Hotot up with alot of interaction and love ( instead of being in a cage all day and right before only readying them for a show) So we are going to do the same with her. I have owned dogs and cats but let me tell you I wish that I had been introduced to these creatures a long time ago! Our Hotot snuggles up to our 18 year old cat and sleeps too. What a picture!

Tracie 2006-05-23

New Zealand rabbits will start to bite when they are 8 months old. I have a New Zealand and it already bit me pretty good. New Zealand rabbits are friendly if You get them when there babies. I got my rabbit old thats why she is kind of mean.

We have a Cutie called Remo, he is the sweetest thing on earth, he is a part of our Family. he is a great pet and thinking of him brings a smile on the face of whoever has met him.

naresh 2006-04-27

I have a new zealand named Trixie, and she is the BEST rabbit ever! My friend also has one and Trixie and Lilly get along very well. New Zealands are my favorite type of rabbits! Trixie is my best freinds and she is the most lovable, gentle, and fun rabbit ever! She loves to be taken out for walks and loves rooming around inside! Someday I wish to raise a farm for all new zealands! If any child is thinking about getting a rabbit then I strongley suggest new zealands! You won't regret! To me New Zealands are like little furry friends that just want to have fun and be cared for! They're gentle, fun, and great for kids!

I have a beautiful new zealend rabbit named Monty. He's been a great friend and has a very fat and happy life. He had a huge cage, plants to eat, and plenty of attention. I let him out in the yard daily to munch on grass and he will always come back in. He gets along with my dog and parakeets great and is cuter then any other bunny alive. Thank you for all your information and help. me and monty have learned from your site. THANKS!

MaTal 2006-02-02

When I was 14 I found a black New Zealand roaming free in in a field behind our house. I took him home, and kept him as a pet. I couldn't decide if he was a rabbit or a bunny, so i named him rabunny. I am now two days away from getting my daughter a white one, and am really looking forward to her enjoying hers as much as I did mine. They do make one of the best pets you can have.

Sammy 2006-01-29

My Rabbit is called snow and she weighs 15 pounds. she is white all over and has pink eyes. she is very smart. she uses the cat flap and every moring when I open her hutch she is bursting for the loo so she goes to her litter box and poos and wees. she is doing this now for about 1 year and a half AND NEVER DURING THIS TIME HAS SHE POOED OR WEED IN HER HUTCH.

Came across your site while researching. I just adopted a New Zealand from the Noah's Wish shelter in Slidell, LA. She has been home 3 days, and has already made herself at home. Trini is truly an inquistive bun-bun, and gorgeous on top of that. I can't wait to give her an enjoyable life.

I never thought that having rabbits would change my life. I love them very dearly. I have about 41 rabbits. They are so beautiful! My daughters love to feed them and play with them. Each one of us has a favorite one.

Leti 2005-07-01

Hello My Husband Frank was taking a walk down in a ravine by our house when a rather large white rabbit apeared from out of the bush. This happened for several days. Finally he told my daughter and I. we decided to check it out, sure enough there it was. Kailynn caught the rabbit and I ran home to get a container. We have had the rabbit for a week now. We are not sure if it ran away or was set free, but we do feel the rabbit is safe with us. I guess we need a bigger cage. suzanne from West Hill

susanne 2005-06-05

I have a Newzealand rabbit and she's so loveable Snowwhite is her name I love to see her jump and leap high rabbits are really great pets but are some times a hard responsiblity

Theresa 2005-05-25

My big boy White New Zealand is named Magician. What a meaty handsome man he is. He loves getting his cheeks rubbed-when I do this he'll drop to the ground, and dig his nails into the carpet with his eyes closed tightly. As soon as I stop I have to make a run for it, because if I stay he'll get up and start honking me (he's a bit pushy when he wants love). He's also a bit spoiled-he gets 5-8 hrs run time through the whole house, not too mention all the fruits and veggies he gets to devour & phone wires he's severed. This has to be my most favorite pet (besides my rat). He really cracks me up at times-that's why I call him my funny bunny.

Amy Lota 2005-05-21

I have the same rabbit, and they are so cute and just fun to be around. When you lay down and cuddle with them they seem so harmless and like nothing could go wrong. If you really look at them and study them you can see how they work and do things. they make it seem so easy. I love my rabbit and never think of hurting it in any kind of shape or form.

shyrah 2005-05-11

My NZ named iris is about 6 years old she is adorable too watch. She doesnt like to be held but will let you if you have food. she is on the heavy side but still healthy.

Kenny 2005-05-01

They love my dogs and my dogs love them.T hey like to snuggle up with the dogs. when theyre in the pen the dogs lay by there pen. They love to sit on your shoulder, when they sit with me they sometimes try to climb on to my shoulder. You will fall in love with a New Zealand bunny and they will fall in love with you!

Kalee Sage 2005-04-21

I have a white New Zealand Meat Rabbit and it is the best animal I have ever had. He does not bite, or scratch. He is really good around people and plays with an alumimum pie tin in his cage. All together he is a really good rabbit.

Anthony Murray 2005-04-12

Hi my name is Adam and i am 13 and i have 2 New Zealand Whites both 1 year old on 16 April 2005 and they are brother and sister and they are called Alfie and Ruby.

Adam Hallsworth 2005-04-05

I have had New Zealand White bunnies since I was in pre-school. We had our Hoppseys(2 of them one female one male) and we had our Snowy, who just passed away in August of 2004. They were the most friendliest rabbits, of course we had other rabbits as well. We had a satin, Butterscotch, and a holland lop with the new zealand white. They got along really well. We miss our big big white bunny, but if you are looking for a sweet loving bunny who loves to cuddle, these are good rabbits, but as we say, any rabbit can be a good cuddly rabbit!

Jenny-Lynn 2005-03-13

I have a NZ white for an extemely great pet. I rescued her. Would like to see other colors

Roger 2005-03-12

I take care of 3 NZW rabbits at my work, and I can not wait until I live in a place that I can take one home with me. They have such a sweet and charming personality and can be comical too. I love that they are so gentle and love all the attention they can get. Thank you for making a website about how beautiful and sweet these large rabbits are!

Debra 2005-03-03

i love my baby bunny. he is two years old. he lives inside. i am doing a school report about him.

unknown 2005-02-14

I love my 2 bundles of joy and they love me back. they are my 2nd most favourite breeds. my favourite is the great big French lop rabbits because they are the attention seekers and are allowed up stairs. My 2 New Zealand does are both Lilac coloured and are sisters. they are so gorgeous. I have 5 rabbits and Lelow is the best of all. she comes with me to the paper shop and back on a dog harness (how cute is that)?.

Hannah Corfeild 2005-01-14

I have a white New Zealand and it is very charismatic. being quite a large rabbit now, he has outgrown the bottom of the bird aviary and is now free to roam an enclosed section with our two dogs. they get along quite well.

ben mclaughlin, new zealand 2005-01-06

They are so sweet! I know because I have two of them!

Paige 2004-12-21

i just got 2. we named them Yin and Yang since one is black and one is white. they are very playful and love to be little lap bunnies. i love them

Valerie 2004-12-20

We stumbled on to our New Zealand on accident. it seems someone bought her and decided a rabbit wasnt right for them. So they set her free in a neighborhood with a bunch of big dogs. Well, we still have her, 5 months and 3 cages later, milkyway is now a member of the family. We just love her! I have fish, cats, a dog, and now the bunny. Critters are great pals!

Kelli Borchering 2004-12-11

i have a new zealand rabbit named bella and she lives in the kitchen. i love her to bits and i take her for a walk each night. also i brush, feed, and take good care of her everyday. your website inspired me to get a new zealand rabbit and i have not regreted it for the two years i have had them!

minstral 2004-11-03

hello. i love new zealand rabbits. i breed them for a living and they are so much fun.

Trevor 2004-11-01

i think the New Zealand rabbits are the fastest growing meat rabbits of all the rabbit breeds

Dan Frank 2004-10-22

I brought a NZ white x breed from a farm. she became our guard dog. she was realy a lovely animal, but she had a short temper. When our dog (that thought it was a cat) died she started attacking dogs. Once she even took on a New fondland, and won. in her three year life span she had 92 kittens and we kept 1 who is now 3 yrs old and lovely. I hand raised her and she thinks im her mum. she even comes to people when called. we have had as many as 49 rabbits at once as well as other animals.

Muley 2004-09-19

I love my new zealand rabbit. She is so sweet.

The American Federation of New Zealand Rabbit Breeders is the national organization that represents the New Zealand Rabbit in the US. If you raise New Zealands the consider joining the AFNZRB. Check out the New Zealand web site http://www.geocities.com/newzealandrba/

Jeff Douglas 2004-06-13

I recenty got a White New Zealand. Her name is Mary Margret and she will run around chewing on her toys and throwing them in the air and chasing the kittens for about 5 minutes then she will rest for about 5 minutes, because it TOATLY wears her out due to her large size, then she will do it all over again!

Dedra Craig 2004-06-01

I have had two New Zealand Reds growing up. They definitly make great pets. I have tried other breeds, but none were as sweet or affectionate as the New Zealand Red!

Kim 2004-04-11

I think this is a lovely rabbit i just heard about i think i fell in love with that rabbit.

Paige 2004-04-09

What lovely buns! And what lovely people saying they love their buns! I love my little four pounders very much but I cannot resist dreaming about a huge New Zealand! Friends who have these huge buns always seem to have funny stories about them. But mine do the same things, only less visibly because of their size. Hugs from me and my house buns Bunkie and Taco who send bunny kisses to all these documented well cared for NZs

teri 2004-03-21

"I have owned my New Zealand White for nearly a week, and he is just so gorgeous! His ruby eyes and gorgeous white fur makes him the most attractive rabbit that I have owned! He is a bit fussy, but I dont care! I love him heaps any way!"

Rachel Fisher 2004-02-29

i have a black new zealand i got at an open show. she is my second, my first is a holland lop. i joined 4H and i have got 2 best of breeds! she used to be very nervous but now she lays on me and i walk her in the park!

Kimberly Hanscom 2004-02-24

I also have a New Zealand white, but mine is a HUGE BRAT, but I dont blame her, she was raised in a chicken coop with other rabbits. So basically she had to defend herself from other territoral does(Girls) and horney bucks(Boys). All thay had to eat was chicken poop and algae infested water. This guy did not even get the breed name right! He called them californians. I am in rabbit 4-H so I show her, She does GREAT! She gets best of breed almost every show! So I basically rescued her. I named her Frost, But she still trys to defend her territory, but thats ok, because of her past. Owner of White rose Rabbitry Kristina

Kristina 2004-02-23

rabbits are the best pet too have for growing teens its like having too take care of a baby with out all the trouble. My rabbit loves timothy hay what kind of grass does your rabbit like?

jasmine 2004-01-27

Hi. I have had a New Zealand White buck.It was the most wonderful experience! He could allow me to do anything to him, it was like having a dog and a cat at the same time, but even better! People usually do not know much about rabbits and assume they are pretty stupid. In fact, rabbits, expecially New Zealand bunnies, are full of big surprizes that are yet to be discovered, although we all who have pet bunnies know better than anybody else what a wonderful, loving, funny, and very intelligent a bunny can be as a pet. If this is your first time, go with a New Zealand baby: besides ruby eyes, thick fur, and adorable ears, you will discover a big bunny to wrap your arms around, and you may find yourself one very special day being trapped by this creature nose to nose with you, breathing peacefully and that is one of the most plesurable experiences you can ever have! In addition, The New Zealand is a greatfull creature and a very generous kisser, which makes him totally irresistable. The only problem with this bun is after he is gone, you can hardly find a replacement for it is impossible to replace a friend, and a friend is a true word for a bunny like that! Lola.

Lola 2004-01-21

This is the rabbit I am going to get. I am looking to buy two in my area (one doe, one buck) so I can breed them!

Alyssa 2003-12-27

I saved my New Zealand from being abandoned and I am so glad that I kept her. I took her to our county fair rabbit show and got first place in our division, but best of all, I got a sweet pet that loves being held. She even yawns when you hold her!

mandy 2003-12-14

I have a white New Zealand named Fu-Fu. She is the best!!! Very friendly and loving, and always has to be part of the action! They make a wonderful member of the family!!!
