can mini rex reabbits carry and give birth to regular sized rex rabbits?

Mini Rex are a wonderful pet. I see the last post where the girl just got a Mini Rex & now has heard about blue rabbits. Mini Rex do come in Blue. There are 17 varieties (colors) of Mini Rex with more in the works. My advice to the young lady who just got her Mini Rex. If you are just having them as pets please spay & nueter them. Don't forget about your original bunny. They are a very social rabbit & need lots of your attention. This is coming from a mother of young breeder & exhibitor. My dughter raises & shows quality rabbits & they are all played with daily. Enjoy your first one & then deciode if you have time for 2.

Hi. Thanks for leting me know about mini rex rabbits. I am soon geting some and could not decide which breed to get and some one said mini rexs were good rabbits. So I looked them up found this great website and have decided to get 2 female mini rex rabbits.

I work in rabbit rescue and wish people would STOP "buying" rabbits. Go to your local shelter. In most places, shelters are bursting at the seams with bunnies that people buy and then discard when the "newness" wears off. Buying bunnies only encourages pet stores and breeders to create more rabbits - even though there are thousands and thousands of rabbits dying in shelters. RESCUE is the answer. Not a pet store. Even PETCO no longer sells bunnies because they recognize that it only adds to the overpopulation problem.

My sister-in-law bought 2 mini blue rex bunnies for my stepdaugther. She absolutley loves them. They are let out into a "play pen" that my husband made. It is a small garden area, and they love to jump and do kicks in the air. They are so soft, like velvet. All of our neigborhood kids love to watch them as they walk bye. They are the sweetest bunnies ever. One is named mittens and the other fluff. They bring a lot of joy to our family.

I bought two rabbits this summer and we were told they were girls. They sure looked like girls too. But due to some dfficulties we found they were boys. I am pretty sure they are mini rexs though, and they are wonderful and playful, no matter what they are.

I have been raising Mini Rex rabbits for about 6 years now and I absolutely LOVE them! Their fur is the softest (other than the Rex's) that I've ever felt! People always come to us asking for lop eared rabbits and we used to have to say "we don't have lops... but come see these!" and they fall in love with them! We have been raising Rex rabbits for about 5 years now, and I'm just starting to raise Holland Lops. I purchased a bunny from the pet store, being informed I was getting a mini rex. But after reading up on bunnies from this site, I'm not so sure. I think she looks just like a Himalayan, but doesn't have pink eyes. She's all white, except her feet and ears are like a faded grey and her nose is charcoal grey. She does not like to be handled. Where as the other mini rex I held at the store didn't mind. We choose her because she was the only female there. Anybody have any input on determining the breed of the rabbit.

I have 2 rabbits. One is a mini rex netherland dwarf lilac mix named kellton and the other one is a netherland dwarf silver martin mix named holly. holly will be 2 years old in may and kellton will be 1 in october. They both love banana and parsley.

I have a three year old mini rex named Jack, who I love to death! He so soft and sweet! If I bring him down to our living room, he will jump up on our small couch and it is then officially his! He loves to interact with people and when he's happy he'll run around and jump in the air doing crazy things! Mini rexes are an awesome pet to have!

Rabbits make wonderful loving pets. I raise mini rex rabbits. I show and do 4-h and fairs. Our bunnies all have names and are family raised. Mini rexes are beautiful, soft bunnies. Loads of personality and all our are litter box trained, even in their cages they have litter pans. Some learn overnight. Good quality pellets and clean dry hay are essential. Fresh water and if they have to be outdoors, keep them out of the sun and drafts. Give them frozen water jugs for them to lay against in the hot weather, heat will kill your rabbit if it gets hot. ALWAYS freeze empty milk jugs to keep on hand so you can rotate them when they thaw. Give them safe things to chew on. Rabbits love toys too; boxes, ramps, tunnels, stumps, etc. Always make sure your cage is preditor proof. Mini rexes can live a good long life if cared for properly.

HI:) I have the most adorable Mini-Rex his name Roo, he hops like a kangaroo. He is litter box trained after only 2 weeks. He loves to hop and spin in place when he is happy. I call it his "happy dance." It is funny to watch. He is curious but very cuddly and friendly. He is fascinated with a house that I made with a cardboard box adorning a few windows. He also loves to follow me hopping close behind as I go from room to room. Litter box training was easy just placed the box with some hay in the corner of the room and he uses it. No accidents....yet!!! Lots of energy and a cuddly companion. Sharon

My bunny is a mini rex mixed with another breed, but were not quite sure. He is the most adorable thing ever. He's white with brown spots and he's so fat and loveable. I sometimes think that he thinks he's like a dog or something cause he acts like one in many ways and he doesn't like people who are scared of him. But no one except my little brother is scared of him, but they get along now. Anyway if your wanting to get a bunny or rabbit GET a Mini Rex...Too cute

Me and my sister have a Dwarf-Rex rabbit. She is two years old and she is as big as a six year old. She enjoys eating alfalfa treats and hay. She sleeps in a bunny condo that we built for her. She has usually a 1/4 of a bail of hay in there and a guinea pig home that she absolutely loves. She turns it over and puts hay in the bottom to sleep in it. I have a mini rex rabbit,black and white with that lovable instinct to randomly lick your cheek when you're holding it by your face. Her name is Chibi, this bunny is indeed a female! I also have another mini rex rabbit who is brown with a bit of white named ReiRei,this bunny is male! And my last rabbit is very weird, it is a male and has stayed with me for 15 years now. I had a mix of holland lop and a mini rex. His name was Cody and he was Blue. He was such a lovable bunny. He died about a year ago at the age of 10! Miss ya buddy!

I have a mini rex rabbit now too. I had a tort mini rex that I got on nov. 15, but she died on Thanksgiving. The next day I went and got a another one. This one is all black and her name is Belle. She is so sweet and curious. She is great, she loves to play chase me. She has already litter trained herself. She is so much more active than my mini lop is. My daughter is putting her in the fair and rabbit shows next year. I love her so much and I love my mini lop also. well actually they're my daughter's and mine. The one that died didn't do too much, she would just lay in her cage, or if we took her out she would just go lay somewhere to be alone.

We have three bunnies. One mini rex (broken black), he is not the best of the bunnies but he is so cute and sweet when you are not trying to get him to do something he does not want to do,lol. My other bunnies are lops and they are more laid back and willing to go along with everything. I enjoy my bunnies and am happy they are litter trained. Bunnies make the best pets as long as you are willing to do house chores every day for them.

I had a mini rex (Cinnamon) years ago and unfortunately he passed away (from old age) and I miss him so much. He actually lived to be around 9 years old which is very old for them! He was a show rabbit but I never showed him, just kept him as a family pet. He had the best personality any rabbit could have...I felt he was more like a dog sometimes because he would lick you! He never bit anyone and was very gentle. He was very good with the litter box and loved to explore the house. I was young when I had him and believe it or not he would play hide n go seek! I would put him somewhere in the house and run and hide and a few minutes later here he came to find me! I used to make mazes for him and he would actually do them. He loved parsley so if you havent tried to give yours that I would try it! He layed on the couch like it was his own but sometimes I had to watch...I left my homework out and he started nibbling on it..you think the teacher would believe you that a rabbit ate your homework!? He loved to follow me around and always be with me. He didn't like baths though, or his nails clipped! But other than that, he was the best rabbit anyone could ask for. In the summer we sometimes had him outside with our other rabbits and the one night a german shepperd came by and tried to get in the cage..Cinnamon thumped his foot so hard that luckily my sister heard him from the other side of the house and ran out there to scare the dog away. Lets just say after that I never let him outside again! If you are looking for one that is good with kids I say go for a mini rex!! Their fur is SO soft you could pet them all day. It shocked me to read comments on here that their mini rexs were mean because I knew quite a few and none of them were ever like that! I would recommend to get one from an actual breeder so you know it's pure bred and then maybe you won't have the agressiveness that some people had with theirs. Hope this helps someone who is deciding to get one or not!

I've had mine for quite a long time now. He's called Jasper, he's 3 this November 08 and he's castor brown. My experience with him has been lovely and I recommend all you guys out there on getting one. They feel like velvet and I sometimes watch eastenders with him on my lap :D haha. He sometimes bites my clothes when I'm not looking, but overall he's a generally relaxed bunny. We keep him indoors because he's not neutered and we feel it's healthier for him because he's out of the damp. You may need to get them a new chew toy every say, 6 months, because they do love chewing which is good for their teeth. Their eye lashes can get quite long and so can their claws so always keep nail cutters handy ;). I love Jasper and I always will. They like to have little holes to go in like their burrows in the wild. They're a bit like dogs because they have the same affection. Anyway .. hope you get one :p

I have had this rabbit for 2 years. She likes to love on people and is very laid back. So I suggest if you're getting a rabbit, get a mini-rex.

We just recently added our minirex, Shadow, to the family and its been wonderful. He is the cutest thing and he has the softest fur. He's playful and he gets pretty easily amused, like he loves playing with this plastic cup. I don't know why but it's awfully cute. He also loves being pet and sitting on my lap:). He is also very intelligent, we've already potty trained! Everybody loves him:). I'm 13 and my brother is 11. He adores me, he thinks I'm his mommy and he licks me. But my bros a bit roughfer when he pets him, but he still enjoys his company. HE MAKES THE MOST PERFECT ADDITION TO THE FAMILY!

I too have a scary mini rex. He has bitten my son twice, is very jumpy in our arms and charges us when we reach into his cage. I try to hold him and tame him. I'm just not sure if he's fixable.

I brought my new addition to the family, the mini-rex rabbit, home about two weeks ago and I love him. At first he was always around me and wanted to lay on chest, now within a few days he acts like he's petrified of me and won't let me pick him up. He's now trying to escape from his pen EVERY minute. I let him out 75% of the time and he has free roam over the house and still I don't know what else I can do to please him. If ANYONE has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you

I just got my mini rex, Blue, today. He is gentle, but super active. He is so sweet. I got him for Youth Fair because my doe died Saturday. So far he is amazing.

Hi! I used to have two mini rex bunnies, I never thought I'd get them. After two happy years, they disappeared from their cage. We never saw either again. To this very day, I miss them with my heart and hope we will find them.

I purchased my Mini Rex, Brex, a few months ago when he was about 5-6 weeks old. Never having owned a rabbit before I researched breeds before I made my decision (I wanted one that had a good temperament, as I have a four year-old and that would not grow to be too large). We could not be more happy with Brex. He is completely black and has the softest fur ever, loves to have his belly rubbed, likes the 'kisses' our dog gives him and in general is just perfect. Mini Rex rabbits are definitely a great breed for families with younger children or with well-behaved pets as they are not scared too easy (especially if you introduce the 'family' early on) and are simply a great addition to any loving home!

Hey Hartley's that's too funny. My daughter got a mini rex and an english spot and named them Scooby and Scrappy. The mini rex does have a great temperament, very laid back. On the other hand, the english spot is a bit on the skittish side and not as easygoing.

Wow thanks for all the info, it was truly great. Let me tell you, I'm 11 years old and I really want a bunny. I wrote a 70 page notebook of nothing but what to do for a bunny I love them oh so much, and well my parents said most likely no! But I have faith and I promised that I'll pay for most of that stuff. But anyways I want to get it at the state fair coming up in April 9-13th 2008. I can't wait, I hope my parents say yes. I love them but I love animals. I have a red mini rex called Louie who I fell in love with the moment I set eyes on him. He is one of the friendliest rabbits I've ever had but he doesn't like being cuddled very much, though he is quite happy to jump up onto my bed and lay down with me. He is very cheeky and I would recommend any rabbit lover to get a mini rex :-D

My boyfriend and I bought a red mini rex from the pet store and she is as cute and can be! She is about 4 months old and her name is Honey Bunny. She is so nosey though when she is loose in the house. She's always throwing stuff around and always nibbling my shoe laces... GRR! But she's just exploring, god knows whats shes eaten. I just hope she learns how to walk on the leash soon. I took her out one day and lets just say she slipped out and she scrathced the heck out of me when I held her. She's lucky she's cute!

I have a ten week old bunny. She is solid black and I named her iHop. I love her a lot but sometimes she can be aggravating. I have to block off everything when I decide to let her out of her cage because she is so curious and loves to squeeze under furniture. When I first got her she tended to run under my bed the second I put her on the floor. When I tell her to do the "crazy dance" she runs then jumps and spins in the air. She is very hyper all of the time and always wants to run. I'm afraid to let her outside in the springtime because I think she'll run away. She isn't much of a cuddler. It's a hassle just to pick her up out of her cage. You can't hold her for long because she's so squirmy. She loves to eat cheerios and when she's 6 months I can start feeding her veggies. She's most friendly with me because she knows my voice and I'm the one who feeds her.

I own one adorable mini-rex male rabbit! I'd have to say he is one of the better rabbits I've had (considering he's the only rabbit I've had). He's very mellow and I love him dearly. If anything bad happened to him, I don't know what I'd do! He's my life and he will always be close to my heart.

My two awsome Mini Rex's are (Hopper) who is broken black and (Rosco) who is solid black. I got Hopper first, he is 9 months now, and he was the only one for a while, then I got Rosco (5 months). They don't get along and have to take turns outside their cages. I feed them 1/4 C. of pellets and unlimited Timmothy hay. I also give them salt wheels and unlimited fresh purified water. They love all of it, they are spoiled. They are the first thing I tend to every morning and I wouldn't have it any other way! =]

I got a demon of a mini-rex, he's all gray with the white belly, he acts more like a dog then a bunny, hes' pretty big now and heavy, my gf is scared he might be a giant rex. Hopefully not. He's always happy, jumping, doesn't chew my stuff, and loves to go under my bed and stay for hours. He brings most of his treats and toys under there. We got him a friend last week, a black and white dutch bunny. We believe its a girl. They are getting along good even though everyone told me that my rex would destroy the baby dutch. But he hasnt....yet! Overall they are a very good breed and smart. They get along with most other bunnys, though my gf's dutch i got her attacked jack when he was smaller. Now it seems hes bigger then her dutch. I say to go with a rex or a dutch bunny, just get them fixed at some point.

I have the most precious completely black mini rex. Her name is Black Betty (after the son). She is very social! She loves to play, especially with my two cats! They all have a blast. She also likes to play the escape game! She will get out of the kitchen (which she has to herself) and run into whatever room I am in and thump until I notice her, and then she makes a b-line back for the kitchen before I can get her. I guess she is letting me know that she is smart and wants to play. I love my princess and I wouldnt trade her for the world!

I have the cutest baby mini-Rex named Buttons. When I let her go outside, she hops normally, runs fast, and then jumps very high. She is white with a broken tortoise-shell. She doesn't care about what you do with her. My cats are scared of my baby bunny, and they're older than her. She likes licking people. Mini-Rex's are the best kind of bunny.

I have the cutest little mini rex! she is so cute and I always bring her outside and runs like crazy! I named her Abby. When she wants to go outside and play, she looks at you with puppy dog eyes and looks like she's cross eyed because her eyes are on the sides of her head. She's almost litter trained and is dark brown and black. MINI REXS ARE THE BEST RABBIT EVER!

Hi i have two WONDERFUL mini rex rabbits. I have a doe (white with black markings) and a buck (white with brownish reddish markings). They are the sweetest things ever, but I am about too breed them....well, in about a month or two. They are separated and eat 24/7! Eating machines I tell you, but every cent I put into those pellets and that hay is worth it. When I breed i will get to see the miracle of life and that will be the very best thing I'll get out of all this. If you are ever looking for a good rabbit for breeding, a pet, 4-h, or even FFA you should consider getting a mini rex. Thank you for letting me put this up, tata for now!

I just love my mini rex. He is softer than anything I've ever touched before. He is very tame and has never bitten anyone. He loves to give kisses and is completely litter box trained. I named him Pikay. He is truly my best friend. He roams around the house just like a regular cat does. He even relaxes on the furniture to watch tv with us.

Last December I fostered 3 mini rex brothers, never thinking they would become part of the family. They were neutered after 4 months old and they just turned 1 year old this past October. Jack is lavender, Ben and Tim are black. Fresh greens are fed daily...never pellets. Timothy hay always and alfalfa chews as treats. For their birthday I made cakes: rice cakes with a banana/blueberry mash spread. If Tim had his choice, he would only eat carrots and pears. But to keep a full variety and healthy diet, I mix and dice various fruits and greens daily. I really enjoy making edible chew toys and keeping their hutch and runner comfy and cozy. I love them very much...And to think I consider myself a cat person.....

This year my bunny got very sick and we didnt know why. We thought she might have lead poisoning from an old chair she chewed, thank goodness she didn't. we took her to a vet and found out we were feeding her the wrong food. Just incase you dont know, you are supposed to feed rabbits timithy hay, not pellets as they are just treats. Some symptoms of a bad diet are: small rabbit dropping, not urinating, loss of hair, no appitite, not very active, and licking furniture. She got sick in July but didnt show symptoms until September. Now my bunny is great and healthy once again. She is now almost one and i am very glad that she is ok. I didnt write this to be a show off and tell you i know every thing, i wrote it for your bunnies health. So if you are a first time mini rex owner treat them like horses.

We just got a mini rex on 9/18 and love love love her! We have wanted a bunny for a long time and just moved into a new house with the perfect hutch area. When I walked into the petstore on my son's fourth birthday (to get him a fish!) we found our little sweetie. She had been brought in the day before by a sweet woman who could no longer give her the attention she deserved. My heart melted and our BUN BUN came home with us. So happy to have her here, and I can tell she is happy too because of the snuggles we get :)

I have a mini rex and his name is O.J.. He is orange just to give you a hint! And no...his name isn't Orange Juice it's Orange Junior, he is named after his mom who's name if you can guess is Orange. He absolutely adores Lola (My bestest buddie Missy's bunny) just find Missy's comment on holland lops and you will soon know all about Lola. If O.J. and Lola have bunnies they will look like the orange holland lop you first see when you go to holland lop. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

i have a adorable minirex named Pnut who is just over one year old. he is extremely energetic and likes bouncing off the couches and shredding paper bags. he is very smart and taught himself to use the litterbox without my help. MINI REX ROCK!

hello! i have 1 mini rex rabbit, as well as 4 other mix breed rabbits. My mini rex is a male and is named Nubs. i love him so much! i even call him my little baby! i let him have the run of the house and he follows me every where. he will also come when he is called (most of the time =D). Nubs also loves to play with the cats, sometimes i belive he thinks he is one. i also have an outdoor pen thats huge (its meant for dogs) that i filled with obstacles for him to play in. his favorite treat happens to be broccoli. i feel bad because he's a tinsy bit heavy, so i give my other bunnies treats-but not him. :( Nubs isnt a show rabbit yet, but i'm getting him tattooed in september. the people i got him from used to show him in 4-h shows. this saturday something terrible happened to him, he stopped eating and drinking-completely. today i looked in his mouth and it looked like that his top teeth over grew the bottom ones though he had many chew toys. i couldnt get him to eat, but thankfully he did drink. Nubs is going to the vet. i did some research and i believe that maybe a simple trimming could cure this but pray that he'll be all right. i've already lost many other rabbits i had! thank you!

I have a mini rex rabbit, Velvet. Her color is called a Lynx. They are great rabbits for pets or for show. Velvet is a show rabbit. She does good at the shows. They are little rabbits, Velvet weights 4 pounds and she's an adult. Once you touch their coat, you fall in love. Their coats feel like plush velvet, that's how she got her name. Easy to take care of. Very little grooming is required. Mini Rex are great rabbits. I love Mini Rex.

We are the proud owners of a male mini rex. He is the best pet ever, he is so full of curiosity and fun. Soon we will be getting him a wife and have a huge family.

I have a mini rex and a dutch. Great pets, fun to play with and to watch. My rex, Nibbles, recently came down with a GI health problem. I took her to the vet as soon as i noticed she wasn't eating or dropping any nuggets and laying around more then usual. The vet took xrays and had us syringe feed her. Xray showed an obstruction and kidney stones. After another xray and no change in Nibbles health, i found another vet. This dr. specializes in exotic animals. He took a different approach on treating her. He thought the kidney stones were causing her pain and not allowing her to pass anything. After a three night stay in the hospital, blood work, more xrays, fluids and different meds, i got my Nibbles back. Please, when you get your rabbit, find a local vet who treats exotic pets. If i kept treating Nibs with the first vets treatments, i would have lost her. She is on her way to a full recovery! She is very loved, and Smokey is happy to have her home.

I have a mini rex named lola bunny. she is the calmest bunny in the world. she comes when i call her, she follows my feet when i walk, and she goes everywhere with me. she thinks she is a cat though, because i have three and they always play with her. she loves to sleep with my rottweiler and my shepard-lab mix. she is very loving and gives me kisses a lot!

I have a Mini Rex, her name is Checkers. We adopted her from our x-stepcousins, who had adopted her from a different place. Both neglected her. She is white with black spots. She runs around the whole house and is extremly happy in her new home. Checkers is now 3yrs old. She loves my mom. Checkers follows us all around the whole house and hates when we are gone. she loves attention and is a wonderful family member.

I got a mini rex rabbit named Midnight. He lives under the rocking chair in the living room. He likes to watch tv and kicks people off the couch literally. He just loves my dad lol XD. We have a 3yr old mini-rex named Rusty. He is a rescue rabbbit and is totally housebroken. He is not very cuddly and a little stand-offish but he is very smart and has complete run of the house. People who come to the house are totally amazed that he is litter-box trained and can't believe that we let him run loose in the house. We also have a new puppy. Rusty has established himself as the alpha animal and the puppy bows to his will. We don't need television in our house. Watching the animals inter-act is all the entertainment we need.

My Mini-Rex is a very gentle and loving animal. she is a little bit of trouble to take care of because she does not usually like to have anybody messing with her cage, so it is not unnormal to have a bite or scratch after changing her food or water. I have heard from other owners that they are not usually this agressive.

I have a three yr old mini rex named Squeeks. She is my best buddy. I recently had a bad accident, I fell off the roof of our new house and broke both my knees and back. After I had surgery and came home I was confined to my recliner and still am basically. This happened 5 months ago and she has not left my side the whole time. She definitely knows something is wrong. She will jump up on me and fall asleep with me, and give me kisses before she hops down. She is potty trained so it makes it easy to let her hop around the house while we are awake. I don't show her, but she is my baby and I wouldn't trade her for the world.

I love my mini rexes. I myself have 7 of my own and my sister has 3 that I take care of. I let them outside in a pen for about 2 hours a day depending how cold it is. I also love to show them in the fairs.

My friends are always asking me why I named my rabbit Velvet and I always tell them because when i got her, and still, her fur is really soft just like velvet. so it fit my precious little girl perfectly. I know that souunds a little bit prepy, but she is so special to me.

Coco is my broken chocolate Mini-Rex. At first, I got her as a companion to my Holland Lop, Chestnut (they were born the same day). They got along well until their hormones started to kick in and I had to separate them. Coco is the curious one...Always the first to sniff and try out a new toy, always the first one to hop out of her home during play time. She is very adorable. She approaches me bravely, circling me with adoration. During play time you see her jumping, her hind legs seeming to clap behind her in glee. I was so taken with Coco's personality, I got Nimbus, a blue Mini-Rex. He is beautiful. Just the perfect furball. He hates the tiles and loves to stay on the carpet "leaping" to and fro. Mini-Rex rabbits are expressive animals with great personalities.

To help prevent sore hocks make sure clip your Rabbits nails properly. Not letting the nails get too long also helps.

I have an all black 4 month old mini rex named Jack, he is the greatest bunny ever! He has such a great personality and is always keeping me laughing with his crazy games. If you have never had a mini rex than this is the rabbit for you, they're the best!

I own 2 mini Rex's and they are some of the best pets I have ever owned. The oldest, who is full grown, is litter box trained and lives in the house with the cats. He is very independent whereas the baby Rex only weighs about half a pound and loves all the attention he can get. I have learned though that the oldest does not like having another rabbit around and tries very hard to bite the baby. So, be sure your rabbit is socialized with other rabbits instead of cats before you bring in a new addition.

I have a bonded pair of mini-rexes. They are so cute they put me into an adorableness coma. Seriously, they are great pets and loads of fun! They are small and very active little buns! While they do not care much to be held, they are very affectionate.; my male, Cashew gives me kisses and sometimes won't stop and my female, Hazel is very sunggly. One thing to make sure of is proper diet... I have had to take Cashew to the vet on a few occassions as min-rex shed a lot and develop fur balls. Make sure they get unlimited timothy hay, fresh greens (check out the house rabbit society online for a list), and pellets that are high in fiber (I buy Oxbow). Also, Oxbow carries papaya tablets that are good for hairballs... you can also buy cat laxatives such as Laxatone, but do not use both! Good rabbit vets are hard to find!! :)

About 3 weeks ago, this cute little rabbit, hopped onto my porch during a storm and followed my 8 year old daughter around all day. We did not know if it was wild or not, but she was sure friendly. I took her to my friend who has about 7 rabbits, several are rex's. She confirmed that "Princess" was a rex bunny. She was so cute and loveable, and calm! She would sit on my daughter's belly for hours. Sadly, on Sunday morning (07/16/06), when she went to get Princess, she had found that she died. I had a rabbit many years ago as a kid, but this rabbit was very different. Content, loving, and easy to care for. We're definitely going to get another "Princess". Even thought we had her for only 3 weeks, she 'touched our hearts and lives' and seemed to be an excellent pet for a young child to love and care for.

Mini rex rabbits make great pets. When you get your rabbit, make sure you give it lots of attention so it will respond to you. Because they have the SOFTEST fur ever and can be thin, they tend to develop sore hocks on their feet. To avoid them getting sores, make sure your bunny has a place to sit that is off wire. If she does develop sore hocks, just put Neosporin on the bottom of her feet and it will heal quickly.

Hey. I have had mini rexes for about 5 years now. I show one in 4-H, so the far is always a blast. Not only are mini rexes good 4-H projects, they are also great pets. I love there calm, friendly personalities!! If I were to rate mini rexes 1 to 10, it would easily be an 11!!

Hello! I fell in love with this little grey mini rex. She won me over buy crawling in my coat and went to slept. Right then and there I knew she was for me. You see I had a mixed breed bunny for 3 years. she would fould me all over the house sit in the bathroom while I got ready for work. She would play hide and seek with my daugther. She also would wake her up in the mornings. So you see when I got home from work one night and found she had pasted on I was very upset and i missed my friend. So when this little grey mini rex fell asleep in my coat I knew I found a new friend. She keeps me laughing with her jumping and playing with the other bunny I have. She even plays with my daughter. she loves playing with the slinkly and baby toys. Only one thing, she thinks she can fly. Working on potty training, that's going ok. she wants treats all the time, so she will sit & sit there til her treat, a little strong minded. I never had a bunny like her, she begs for food if you have it. One night my Daughter had a Popicle and Velvet(her Name) went up to her, put her paw to her lip and pulled her mouth open and put her head in her mouth. hi my name is whitney. i have had my mini rex for over 2 weeks now. i named her toffee because of her color. she loves it when we take her out of her cage and let her run around the kitchen. the only thing i don't like about her is that in the middle of the night she jumps all over her cage and wakes me up. also she likes to kick her shavings out just to make me mad, i guess. the one thing i hate the most is having to clean out her cage. it is so messy. right now i am trying to potty train her.i bought her a litter box and so far she hasn't used it. im sure she will be using it in no time though.

I had a Mini Rex named Master Chief. He was black. I got him when he was 3 months old. He use to jump in my lap whenever he heard me opening a bag of sun chips... On nice days, he and Thumper (my Netherland Dwarf) would stay outside in their well-shaded, fenced in area. I had Chief for two years... Yesterday, I found him dead. He was only 2! I don't know what happened! I think mosquitoes may have made him sick. I buried him by a tree in my yard and planted forget-me-knots on top of his grave. He was the coolest rabbit ever! I miss him so much!

I'm 14 and have had a mini rex for about a week and a half. I named her CiCi, for no apparent reason. We even found a pizza place down the street named CiCi's pizza, but they won't let us bring her. She is the sweetest thing and has a big heart to go with her big attitude. I've noticed that whenever she is mad she thumps her back feet or gives you this really weird look. She is fairly well pottytrained already although at nights she has accidents in her bed. She also has a huge appetite, we fill her food bowl all the time. At first she was a little scared of my friends, family and I, but now if she's running around my room I'll lay down and she'll come give my face kisses. The funniest thing is to see her walk around the room and stand on her hind legs. We didn't know rabbits actually did that. CiCi is also very good about staying where she's allowed to go although sometimes we catch her going other places. She loves to sit on my lap when I'm on the computer or watching t.v. Infact she's with me right now. I love mini rex's. They are so soft and she's great with the younger kids in the neighborhood.

I just got a castor mini rex doe about 3 days ago and she is brilliant. she is till a bit shy but she just can't help herself being so nosy! my greatest advice to rabbit owners is to litter box train them, this can be done from any age. just watch as to where your rabbit does it's business and place a small little box or tray there (you may need to secure it down if you have a very cheeky bunny!). it makes keeping your bunny clean a lot easier and you only need to clean the whole hutch every 1 to 2 months if you empty the tray daily. happy rabbit-ing!

I have had my Miyuki, mini rex, for 2 years now. My first and most silly out of 5 rabbits! This black mini rex has one heck of a personality, she loves to play toss with me, and run around "chinning" things to make them hers. She has an american fuzzy lop as a boyfriend, Ratatouille is white. Every time i take Miyuki for walks, the most i hear from other people is "what a perfect little black bunny!" and she is. The fur texture has a pretty sheen and really makes her stand out in a regal way!

Mini-Rex rabbits are SOOO sweet! That is...I have three!!! My third rabbit, has the SOFTEST fur, of which I'm sure is 10x softer than velvet. They'll do tricks for treats, and are so nice, they're like friends. Snuggling is great for you and them. They relax, (a little too much sometimes!) and it is VERY comforting to know that you have a little companion with you! I LOVE MINI-REX!!!!!!!

I recently bought a doe and man is she onery, maybe it's because i bred her to an opel buck, the fur is really soft like velvet.I don't know for sure if she's a mini or not, oh well it doesn't matter i love her anyway.

My sister was given a mini Rex for Easter for her 5 month old baby, but didn't want the responsibility of taking care of a rabbit. therefore she asked me if I would be interested in having it. Of course I said yes and got it yesterday. Today I bought it a new cage full of supplies I needed to care for it. Her name is "Snowbunny" and she is so sweet. Although she's scared of my PikaPom dog, she's very friendly around all others and loves to chew. Her fur feels just like velvet and she is white with brown spots, brown ears, and black around her brown eyes. She hops frequently, but enjoys walking for the most part. Some noises she makes are darling and she is truly an explorer. If you are considering getting a pet, this one is so adorable and safe for young children. I love her already!

i have the most COOL mini rex bunny ever!

I just got two amazing mini rex rabbits (man are they expensive.) They are worth every penny. They love to play and the buck stomps his foot when he doesnt get enough attention. The dough is very tame and quiet. I love animals and that is why i got some more. they are good with other animals even cats. They feel softer then cotton and my grandmother said they felt like velvet. these are great for pets so if your looking for a pet a mini rex is the best.

I have A Pure Pitch Black Mini rex, I havent thought of a name yet because Im trying to find something exotic. Well i had her fo almost a year, And i havent exactly been "playing" with her as much as I should. So im afraid to take her out cause she growls and charges at you. We found A Very big white rabbit by our tree in front (kind of weird) And with good luck turns out he's a buck. i have 6 rex bunnies. (the product of getting 2, thinking they were the same sex, mind u, this is only HALF of the rabbits from 2 litters) =) there is only one girl now, Dory. two of the brothers share a hutch, they get along fine since they grew up together. i have a big fenced in backyard, that they take turns running in. but some, such as george & harry, are allowed to run around on their own. they are very trustworthy, and never go to far. they know how far they are allowed to go, and i stand close by. if anything scares them, they will come running back to me! they are my babies, and i love them forever!

Hey, i just bought a mini rex at the fair and she is a great rabbit! We decided to call her gypsy(named after our friends horse!) Iive never had a rabbit with hair that was soo soft! I have 22 other rabbits, including dutch, dwarfs, lops, california whites, and a few mixed breeds, but i think that gypsy is the best out of them all! Gypsy is being caged with a guinea pig that doesn't like to be with other guinea pigs, they get along like they have known each other forever. Hi,We have a mini-rex and a dutch, they are turning one next week. We bought them when they were 8 weeks old. They are best friends and love each other dearly. They play with each other the time and in the evening we let them in and they love to play with us. They will hop on the couch, run laps in the family room, play chase, take naps, go to the sliding door to go out and use the litter box and even come back to the door to come back in. Of course the family room is bunny proof, after several chewed wires, shredded pillows and holes in blankets. Nibbles and Smokey live in Fl, where they have great weather year round to live in their large screened porch. Sometimes i think they rule the house and are a little to spoiled! Dee

I have what I believe is a chocolate rex named Buster. Buster is the smartest rabbit I have ever seen. She knows her name and will come when called, and will listen when told not to chew something. By far, Buster is the best pet I have had yet.

I have a Mini Rex and a Dutch that i bought about a year ago, they were 8 weeks old at that time. Nibbles and Smokey love each other and are great friends, and i think love us just as much. They live on our outside screened porch, and are litter box trained. During the evening hours they hang out in our family room and hop all over the place. And, yes, the room is bunny proof. We enjoy them both 100%+++. They crack us up every night, in fact, one is nugging my leg now. :)

Hi! I bought a Mini Rex about 3 weeks ago and she is 9 weeks old now! Well actually we don't know if it's a girl or boy yet. We named it Pepper because we figured it was a safe bet for a boy or a girl! And because she is white with dark and light brown patches and spots! She is calm and cuddly, although she can get hyper when given a treat! Truly the cutest thing EVER and SO soft! We LOVE her!

HI we just got our bunny 2 months ago so now she is 5 months old. she is white and gray with blue eyes. and i noticed some comments about the bunny being nasty, well i just talked to a vet 5 minutes ago because my bunny bit my little girl who is only 1 and took a good chunk out of her finger. my 3 year old is devastated that we have to give the bunny away so i called the vet and asked her opinion. she said that neutoring or spaying the bunny will solve your problems. They tend to calm down and be extremely gentle afterwards. The price to spay or neuter a bunny is around $240, but i think its worth it if you want to keep your bunny.

Hi! We have a mini rex rabbit who is now 9 months old. (We got her from a pet store when she was 3 months old).We heard such wonderful things about mini rex's, so we bought one. She is so soft!Unfortunately, we have regretted our decision ever since. We have tried to give this rabbit all it needs ie/ food, toys, a big cage, etc and it is very violent and seems to be getting worse everyday. It will lunge at us when we try to pick it up and when we do, it bites us. We think a vet visit is in order! We wish things were different.

We've had our mini rex bunny for 3 weeks, his name is Woody and he is 13 weeks old. Woody is a house bunny and he has settled in extremely quickly. He loves the freedom of running round the house and he litter trained himself . Everyone loves Woody he has a great personality and is a lot of fun to watch. He makes us laugh as when he sees us go into the fridge he runs into kitchen and gets under our feet as he knows that the celery and lettuce is kept in there....he's not stupid! If we eat our dinner on the sofa he jumps up and steals food off our plate... I told you he had settled in! We think that maybe he was a dog in previous life! Rabbits make wonderful and loving pets especially when given freedom and alot of affection.

I have had a mini rex rabbit for about 5 months now and she is a very good rabbit. I am in 4-H with her and I spend a lot of time with her. Hi, I was looking into getting a rabbit for a house pet. I searched and searched and read a lot about different breeds. So, I decided to go with the mini-rex because of it's intellegence, and it's look and velvety fur. Her name is Pumpkin, and she was born on Sept. 15th 2005. I'm 13 yrs old, and all I had for a pet since I was 11, was just chickens and fish. some pet! I was begging my mom for an actual "snuggly" affectionate pet. I was babysitting for a woman and her husband who raise and breed rabbits. So we decided that a rabbit would be fine payment. I picked out a brown fiesty little rex. But my mom was sure it would be lonely, so i got an albino too. My mom and dad made a cozy bunny hutch, and i was tickled to death to finally have such a pet. It was I who first guessed that they were different sex, they lived in the same hutch, and eventually Dory became pregnant. I just assumed the albino was a male, so I named him marlin. (from finding nemo) Well, i was right. so we made another hutch, and separated them. Her first litter was 6. We were sooo excited! I, never owned rabbits before, and I'm already raising them! We sexed them ourselves, but found, as popular as they may be, it's very hard to sell so many! Then, someone left the hatch open, and Dory became pregnant AGAIN! She had 6 again, but one died at birth. My favorate baby, Maryjane, died last winter, so now i have 7 bunnies. There being 7 kids in the family, theres plenty of love! So if you get two rabbits, and aren't sure of the sex, SEPARATE them! Unless you want a lot of pals! oxoxox

I have had my mini rex for two years now. She is a joy. Very smart and comical. She gets excited when you call her name and runs around like a crazy lady. She is now five years old. She was a rescue animal that lived in St. Annes kindegarten class for three years. So while she was on summer vacation at the neighbors I decided to ask if I could have her. I don't think that life she had was a good one. So, that is how I got her and I didn't know that bunnies were so active but wow. They are something else. Hi, I just got a mini rex buck who is about a year old. We also bought a doe with 7 babies. They are only about two weeks old. But they are so cute. Mini rex's are the best companions. I used to raise guinea pigs and then we got out of them and then we got these guys. I am much happier with them. i have raised them before and we did raise mini rex's, so we are used to them. The breed is amazing. They are so soft and so sweet.

I have a Mini Rex whose name is Jasmine and she's the best pet I've ever had. Shes a 4 month old castor colored bunny and she does the most hilarious things ever. If I leave the top of her cage open she manages to jump out of it and on to the floor.(The cage i have isnt one of those expensive hutch style cages with the wire floor and the table legs, it just stands on the floor.)When ever I have a vegetable or fruit in my hand she runs towards me and licks my shoes like crazy and starts making low pitch humming noises, its very funny. I have also been training her on a harness, and when ever i take her across the street and put her down with her harness on, she makes a beeline across the street and to my house(of course i check for cars before i put her down.) when you set her on your lap and pet her she tries to snuggle you with her head. She is a very loving creature who wouldnt harm a thing.

Don't brush a rabbit hard they usually don't need to be brushed. I brush mine when it gets scared.

My little guy is named Patch. He's a very sassy and spoiled little boy since he now has the run of the house. He learned to "behave" from living with our Yellow Lab dog and is now part of the family (he may even think he's a dog). I recommend the breed too. My "little big boy" sleeps at the foot of the bed and is ready to go as soon as mom and dad wake up. He loves to zoom up and down the hallway when he's happy. Cover any corners you want to keep if you do what I've done though - he likes to explore everything and occasionally "tastes" any doorway left unprotected.

I own a mini-rex and have had him for a year now. He has been very easy to care for and gets along great with my dogs, cats, and larger rabbits. He is excellent with children and my grandmother just loves him. Cuddles, my rabbit, loves to run the house and likes to be in control. He is very good at using his litter box and we have never caught him chewing on wires or furniture. I believe they make good pets for children and indoor rabbits compared to the other breeds we have owned.

We just lost our six week old Mini Rex named Patch - (black & white colured). Even though we only had him a short while, he was a wonderful rabbit. Unfortunatly he got sick and died yesterday. I have 1 mini rex, Cookies N Cream, who lives with her BFF Sassy(holland Lop). She is only a baby but has such good manners. I have two mini rexes, Penny and Charlie. Both of them are female. I am currently a senior in high school and president of my school's FFA program, where I was introduced to mini rexes. I love my rabbits so much. I'm going to have Penny spayed because she is about three or four years old (I don't know her exact age because I rescued her from a shelter.)and I want her to stay healthy. Charlie is only 7 months old. She won a few ribbons at the county fair this year. When she is a year old I plan to breed her once and then have her spayed too. I have a mini rex named Thumper, and he is the best rabbit ever! He greets me every morning and licks my hands, he is litter boxed trained, and very active. He is six years old, and I love him to death! He is gorgeously colored- tan, white, and gray mixed through. I highly recommend these rabbits for a household pet. Thumper is great.

I had a mini rex rabbit named Donny and he was so sweet and tame. I could flip him on his back and tickle his tummy and it would look like he was smiling at me. Everyday I would pet Donny in his play-pen to play and he would show off to me by doing donkey kicks(kicking his feet in the air and doing spins). Donny died last summer and wasn't even a year old yet. A dog killed him. The dog ripped the metal door right off his cage and drug him out and killed him while we were sleeping. I found him the next morning dead. Since then I always put clips on the door to hold them shut just a little better, but I will always remember the little rabbit who smiled.

My name is Cynthia, and I own a mini rex rabbit. Her name is Ms. Bunny. I got her at a petstore in Victoria Texas, I was there for a month visiting relatives. I fell in love with my rabbit when I first saw her and I knew I had to have her. The pet store where I got Ms. Bunny told me she was a dwarf rabbit. since i didn't know anything about rabbits i assumed it was true. But after a couple of months she started to get bigger than the size she was going to get. She was supose to only get to be 2-3 1/2 pounds. Thats when I started to do research on dwarf rabbits and other breeds of rabbits. She doen't look anything like a dwarf rabbit, her ears are different from the dwarf rabbits and she's way to big :) Thats when i furthered my research and concluded threw pictures and descriptions of rabbits that she must be a mini rex. She's so adorable and fun the have. i love my mini rex so much :) She's my little souvenir. And i'm so happy that i have her in my life.

I have had 2 mini Rex Bunnies now for about 1 month (1 gray, 1 white and gray). Their names are Thumper and Athena. I find them to be very nice pets to have because they seem to like the attention. The mix coloured one (Athena) likes to push Thumper out of the way when I pet her so that I end up petting Athena instead of Thumper. They love their treats (which they have various types, I'll admit, they are spoiled) especially these banana yogurt dipped grain treats. Thumper tries to stick her head right through the bars to get at them! They are both female and from the same litter. Another nice thing about them is that they are low maitenance pets, easy to take care of, cheap really to take care of because you can buy their supplies in bulk, and they are pets that both my 7 year old and 2 3/4 years old children can enjoy!

She is a indoor rabbit and she has a pen outside. pickles is a fun rabbit, but sometimes she bites me when she dose not feel good. You should always play with your rabbit and give your rabbit attention everyday and night. if you try to pet your rabbit inbetween there ears they will like it very much, and then they will love you lots, but only sometimes. If you do not play with your rabbit every day it will not love you that much anymore, and then they will start to rip there cage alot. Trust me it has happened to me too.

My husband and I enjoy the company of our Mini Rex "Little Man" so much! He is such an adorable, curious, sweet bun. We have great fun watching him be sneaky, hopping into pots to taste test the plants, and crawling on tiptoe out of hiding places when he hears his treat box! I have loved rabbits since I was a kid. While I love all three, Lucious is the one with the most personality of the three. I recommend a bunny to anyone who wants to share in a wonderful, loving relationship with an animal. I just got my minirex today his name is Thumper and he is all black except for the pads of his feet. They are grey. He is the cutest most lovable little bunny I have ever met. Except for when he peed on my leg on the ride home. :) He is currently room mating with my guinea pig maggie. They seem to be getting along very well.

I have two Mini Rex rabbits, Acorn and Raven. They are a hoot! They are about 5 months old now and love to play with each other and my husband and me. They are very affectionate animals (especially Acorn) and "kiss" me by nudging me with her nose and licking my hand. Their favorite toys are their chew blocks (they look like baby letter-blocks, but are made to help maintain healthy teeth). When "the girls" as we call them, see us come home from work, they stand on their hind legs, stick their ears straight out, and go crazy until I come over to their play-pen and pick them up. Raven is the courageous one who jumps on and off of everything and Acorn is my snuggle bunny. They really are great pets and are very easy to care for.

My little guys name is Taz A.K.A. "The little ladies man". Sometimes I forget he is a rabbit, he acts more like a kid half the time. He and the little one play tag, chasing each other around. He also loves car rides. I never thought a rabbit could be like him. He is extremly friendly, amazing around kids, and loves to be the center of attention. I picked him up and he took an instant liking to me. Sales lady said she had never seen him take a liking to anyone like that. I could not leave him there.I had never seen one with that coloring and he was so cuddly and soft. So Instead of continuing my shopping trip a made a trip home with my baby boy Taz.

My fiance bought me a mini-rex for my birthday recently and I am so happy! He is a calico, so I named him Spec because of the black specs on his back. He is absolutely adorable. I have not had him long but he is SPOILED ROTTEN already. If I let him out of his cage without having a carrot waiting for him, he bites me. He is such a little brat. He picks the pellets out of his food and piles them up. He eats the rest of the food and will not even touch the pellets. I have actually cought him going to the bathroom on them. Apparently he does not think they are good enough for him. He is still my favorite pet though!

Just got two three month old caster colored mini rex bunnies this weekend. They have brought so much joy to my life, having only had them for less than five days. They are the most loving rabbits that anyone could wish for. They have excellent temperaments. Two beautiful little creatures.

I have never, EVER felt anything as soft as a Rex rabbits fur. If only they would let you cuddle them more! I was going through some of my grandmothers old things, and we found a winter coat, trimmed in Rex fur. I nearly started crying. My mini-Rex is the reason I will NEVER wear fur.

my boyfriend wanted to buy me a bunny for our 1 year anniversary, so we went out looking for a bunny that I would like to take home, originally looking for a dwarf, or a micro. But unfortunatly, all the places that we looked either had all males (i really wanted a female) or all white (I wanted something different than the rest) Then we went to another store, and there she was, white with tan brown spots over her eyes, cheeks, ears, and down her back. I fell in love with her instantly. We called her mocha and she is such a sweet, gentle bunny. She is now getting used to hopping out of her cage when i open it, and responding to her commands. I am very very excited to have her. Greatly recommended for any wanna be bunny owner.

We were the owners of a beautiful broken castor mini rex. We had her for 7 years and she was still winning awards at age 6 yrs.!!! We are now looking for another. . . the only breed my daughter will consider is the wonderful mini rex.

I am the developer of the Mini Rex rabbit and I want to correct some mis-information you are publishing on this website. The Mini Rex is the direct result of the crossing of a Black Dwarf Rex buck (imported from Holland in 1984 by Marylouise Cowan of Maine) with an undersized Lynx Rex doe. The first cross produced Mini Rex and through selective breeding, the breed was "invented". The crossing of a Netherland Dwarf and a Rex was done in Holland by the developer of the Dwarf Rex and was many generations away from having the true Rex fur.

my first rabbit ever was a beautiful little mini rex named coco because he was the color of rich hot coco. he came to me by the most unusual means. i was driving an ice cream truck at the time and a customer (around 12-14 years old) had him in a little box so i asked ta see him and fell in love. well apparently she had gotten him without parents permission so the girls mother jokingly said if ya want him hes yours. i laughed at first but seeing as how my fiance at the time had just had a miscarriage i thought he just might be what we needed to fill the void in our lives. needless to say Cooco was far more then we bargined for he had endless energy endless personality and of course an endless appetite. as we were so enriched by his presence in our lives we did the only thing we could we spoiled him rotten. sadly coco is in another home now with a good family though. but i still have one of his last offspring a solid black minirex-american dwarf mix aptly named twitch cuz shes a little bit jumpy most of the time and i love her to death and spoil her almost as much as i did with coco

We recently lost our best friend Deery, our 2 and a half year old mini rex. He was the best pet ever. Completely potty trained, loved people, loved to sprawl out in the middle of our family room, and loved to entertain. We will be purchasing another mini-rex for Easter this year, but we will never forget our Deery.

Minirex are great clean pets. You can potty train them, they are active, and they love to nibble sniff. I just rescued a rex rabbit from a pet store in philadelphia. The bunny has bunny snuffles which is treated with medicine. I could not leave the bunny that was skin and bone knowing that she would die. I have had my rex for 3 1/2 weeks and she is still sick but eats like a horse. I have no clue if she is a a mini rex or will get bigger. She was skin and bone weighing 2 lb 4 oz the day I got her.

Hi! My name is Michelle, our family just adopted a 3 month old mini rex from a local pet shop. She is a complete lovebug, wants to be held almost constantly, and has incredibly velvety fur, the color of hot chocolate with milk. Our 3 daughters just adore our new little friend, and are debating whether to call her Snuggles or Betsy.
