My George, who was 11 years 2 months, has now passed since my last comment. He was our whole world and we are devastated. We had to put him to sleep. The osteoarthritis started to effect his whole spime, he had a seizure and neurological damage. He did not eat and drink for almost 2 days. He knew it was his time. Our vet let us stay with him till the very end. We gave him the most important thing, love. Take care of your precious bunnies and they too will live a long and happy life. REST IN PEACE GEORGE. 8/14/1998 - 10/10/2009 CANDEE G. NEW YORK CITY

I have a black and white dutch rabbit named George. George just celebrated his 11 th birthday with us. He now has severe osteoarthritis in his right front and hind leg. He falls alot but pushes himself. I have been giving him joint pills for dogs 2 times a day over the counter chewables by Hartz. I also rub and massage his legs when I come home from work and some days he seems to do well. His appetite is really good. He enjoys everything. He knows when he takes his pills to drink water after. All I do is say "George, Glucosamine Chondroitin" and he hobbles and eats it fast. He loves to sit in the living room and watch T.V. All you can do is to give them more attention and love when older and count each day you have them over a certain age as a blessing. Bunnies are the best.

I still have my Mr. Bunny... 5 years later, and he's still ticking. And, he still thinks he's a baby.. When he gets mad, he likes to thump his foot. He throws fits like a baby, and licks to lick my hand for attention. Still so sweet after all these years!

I just purchased Zena and she is just wonderful, one of the best rabbits I've had. She loves to lay down and make herself comfortable on my desk or anywhere in my room. She chases my dog and LOVES to play, I consider her as another little dog of mine. She's EXTREMELY smart, already knows several tricks like come, go back, get up, stand up, and turn around, and she's only aroound 11 weeks old. She loves to be with me and just have a fun time <3

I've had a dutch rabbit for 7 years and it died just recently. I am so sad about it, he was a wonderful rabbit, my best friend, he was always so friendly and loving. He was black with a white stripe, brown eyes, so beautiful and behaved like a little dog, so clever. Recently he couldn't eat anymore all of a sudden, and even though I brought him to the vet and gave him medication, he still died. It's so sad I couldn't save him, even worse that I didn't have anywhere to bury him. The vet didn't know what exactly was wrong with him. I will always keep only good memories of this wonderful friend and I hope to one day see him in heaven. Till then I will remember him with photos and videos and will never forget all the fun and wondeful moments I've had with him. I could never replace him and getting another rabbit would just bring tears to my eyes again.

I have a Dutch rabbit named Zorro. He is wonderful! He seems to have bonded with me and loves when I talk to him. He comes to me if something frightens him. He likes to hop in my lap. When I first got him I really was not certain what to expect as I had never had a rabbit before. He is cute as can be. I have had him for 4 years now. He is friendly and litter box trained. Adorable little fellow! I did social work for several years and would bring him with me. He has been well loved! Now he is retired :)

I love Zorro! 2008-10-07

I had to comment due to the fact that there was another 22-year old Clare with a love of her Dutch bunnies (see entry below mine). Crazy. I've had a couple rabbits, but my most recent, who passed away at age 8, Lilly, a tortise colored Dutch was the most darling. Many think that rabbits are anti-social or too high-strung to be truly good pets, however I have found if handled enough when they are young, rabbits can be caring, loyal, and very intelligent pets. I was able to teach my rabbit to come when her name was called and to do a few tricks. I am still convinced that my rabbit was better trained than my boyfriend's dog! : ) I still miss her ramming my leg with her nose repeatedly until I would pet her or pick her up, or licking my tears off my face (the salt) if I was crying. She is dearly missed, but I am VERY excited to be getting a new bunny now that I will finally be in an apartment that allows pets!

I`ve got 5 rabbits. My 1st rabbit died at age 3, he was called hollis. I was so upset at this, he was like my best friend. Sounds sad being 22, but they are very loving pets. True he too use to follow me round, loved cuddles and kisses, and licked my face. So I just had to get another. When he died in my arms part of me died. So to cheer me up I got a new dutch dwarf. Then it look lonely so got her a friend, it was the other rabbit which was there the day I got her. Which I was told was a girl. Nuhuh was it! Bella was a fella, I use to check all the time to make sure. If you get more then 1 rabbit check what sex they are, don't trust a pet shop. Now 5 rabbits later. And rabbits do bite, mine don't but they nip for a pat on the head. My mates rabbit once bit me and made me bleed, I suppose that's if they dont get attention. Not for kids though, these rabbits, no younger then 10 anyways. My niece and nephew are fine with them and both under 9. They`ve been warned that they are scared little things who like nice soft voices. All in all nice, happy, friendly, loving, and very adorable animals. They're a must =)

Its me again, and Gracie gave birth to 6 adorable dutch kits. Unfortunately Penelope was not pregnant. But I am looking forward to them being 9 days old so then I can hold them!

Katie 2008-07-14

I am VERY excited because my dutch rabbit Gracie is supposed to have kits on July 8,2008! Also my Tan rabbit Penelope is supposed to have kits on the same date! Just to tell you I am 12 years old and have 8 rabbits ( 2 lionheads,2 dutch,1 holland lop, 2 tans,1 new zealand)

Katie 2008-06-24

I love my rabbit Oreo! I got her about 3 or 4 weeks ago. In that short amount of time I have realized alot. Some of them are that rabbits don't bite. I have found out that Dutch rabbits are the best kind, so if you are choosing which rabbit to choose then "CHOOSE A DUTCH RABBIT!"

Kaylan I love rabbits 2008-04-30

I love rabbits! I recommend Dutch rabbits as a pet. The reason I chose a Dutch rabbit is because one of my friends had one named Badger. So I got one and named it Oreo! In a short amount of time I have realized is that rabbits are cute, nice and DO NOT BITE. My rabbit Oreo will follow me around until I give her food, then after having a full tummy she would sleep on me for a while. Oreo finds spots in the house then will play there all day. She is so cute! So if you get a rabbit your better off getting a Dutch rabbit.

Kaylan 2008-04-30

I got a Dutch Rabbit about 3 or 4 weeks ago. This might have been a short time of having my rabbit but they are so cool. My rabbit will follow us around and will stay near the refridgerater, because she knows when we go to the refridgerater we will give her food. Rabbits will purr, just like a cat. One thing I use to think rabbits would do when I got my rabbit was that it would bite, but believe me RABBITS DO NOT BITE.

Kaylan M. 2008-04-29

Having a dutch rabbit is great! They love to be in high places and like to lick people's fingers. They are just GREAT!

catherine 2008-04-06

I have a Dutch bunny and he is so calm and so gentle. I thought that bunnies were not the greatest pet but my nine year old daughter and my 3 year old soon wanted 1 really badly. They make great pets and I highly recommend this for anybody who wants a small loving pet, and also I recommend this to begginers with rabbits. They could not be better!

Stacy 2008-03-10

My dutch bunny Dotty Dots is the best bun ever. She has the greatest personalty and is so loving and nice to everyone in my family. If anyone wanted a bunny for a pet, I would recommend the Dutch because of its nice personality and its unique markings.

Emily 2008-01-18

We saw Dutch Bunnies at Super Pets and fell completely in love with them at first glance! We bought the little darlings three days later, and we were very excited. They are so cute, very cuddley, and very soft. They've got a lot of evergy and love to run around freely out of their cage. They love to round in, out and around furniture, but also are fine being held. They don't like to be chased by younger children (under age nine). They eat constantly, take naps in the afternoon, and can be very active during the night, evening and morning. We love our bunnies so much, and we named them Cutie and Beauty. Both of them are from the same litter, They are both gray and white, Beauty with an additional gray spot in the center of the white patch. They are both about a-month-and-a-half-old and love attention! Even though they require attention and 'running around' time, they are worth it. They are SO FUN!

keely and Leah Deutsch 2008-01-10

I got my dutch rabbit at a pet store and fell in love with her from the first moment we were together. She is brown and white (Peanut) and is so well behaved. Ive had her for 8 years and never experienced any agression. She loves to run around the house and go outside in the grass and relax. Even our vet says she is very calm and believes that dutch rabbits are generally of this nature. Dutch rabbits are great for families with kids, or someone who wants a loving pet.

Gianna 2007-10-18

I had a dutch rabbit. When I bought her at the pet store they told me she was a dutch dwarf. She had such a strong personality. Her name was Nosey because she was so inquisitive. The girls at the pet store had already named her. She was black and white and even after she was grown she was small. If you did something that irritated her she didn't care a bit to give you a nibble. She was so adorable and our whole family loved her. It was like losing a family member when we had to let her go. She became ill and nothing could be done to save her. We had two other rabbits but they did not have the personality Nosey had. They were much more passive. If I ever decide to have another rabbit, it will definitely be a dutch.

Reva Campbell 2007-10-13

My Dutch girl, Minty, is my fave bunny! Not only is she drop dead gorgeous, but she is so friendly *mainly towards me* and comes when she is called. She is also very intelligent and knows how to open the door to her hutch when i unlatch it for her daily walk. Overall this is an intelligent, friendly breed, with great senses and they are normally happy, healthly rabbits. Incredibly affectionate, but independent enough not to mind when you are at work.

Melza 2007-09-30

I own 2 dutch/rex rabbits. They are about 2 months old and their names are Beauty and Embony they are so sweet. I highly recommend one or more dutch rabbits, they are really good natured and they love to cuddle(well mine do anyway)!

Hi, I have a Dutch Rabbit which is now a little over 5 years. I've had him since he was 10 weeks old. My little guy is kept indoors, is fully litter trained, and gets a bath every other week. He loves the water. He follows me everywhere in the house. When I take him outside he will stay by my side and not wander off. I just got a 7 week old Mini Rabbit and he plays nice and both get along together. I've had other breeds of rabbits and the Dutch has been one of my best. He is very playful and loves to lay beside you. My Dutch is brown and white, very cute little guy. When the time comes, I will take into consideration adopting another Dutch. BILL

BILL LITTLETON 2007-08-27

I have a Dutch rabbit and he is just wonderful! Buster is 2 years old and I got him when he was 4 weeks old. He is so much fun and has such a personality. I take him with me when I go to buy him his rabbit supplies. He loves to go outside and he just looks around and gets everyone's attention. He is quite active and so much fun to be around. He was funny when I first got him. When he was of age to be able to eat vegetables he did not like carrots. A rabbit that doesn't like carrots??! But now he loves them and loves when I give them to him. He loves it outdoors and just loves to sit in the grass in the sun. He is quite different than the rabbit I had prior to him. My previous rabbit died at the age of 10 about 4 years ago. He was a mini holland lop though. But it is just so fascinating how different rabbits can be. Dutch rabbits are very cute and mine especially is very calm. Although I allow him to run free in a room in the house (that is not carpeted and very safe for him) he usually remains in his cage. Go figure. :) If someone is looking for a rabbit for the first time this would be a good choice. I keep Buster's fur cleaned and maintained regularly but it is not very necessary. Every rabbit needs attention, affection and love, but Dutch rabbits are pretty low-maintenance. But just remember that rabbits are not the type of animals that can just be left in a cage and only taken out for show. They need to be interacted with. They are very fun and very loving animals.

We adopted a dutch bunny in February. She was only about 6 weeks old when I brought her home. Was in the pet store buying dog food when a lady came in with her and said if no one could take her she would let her go free outside. Of course I took her and brought her home to a family of two dogs and one cat. Everyone is getting along nicely and Spookie (that's what I named her) is beautiful. She is gray/white with bluish color eyes. Two weeks ago she was spayed, since I'm not using her to mate, she's only our pet and I've noticed how much calmer and friendlier she is since the surgery. She was very "spooked" when we got her (kind of how I came up with her name), and when you get animals from rescue, you have no idea about their background and/or how they were raised. I have been working with her a lot, handling her (she bit me a few times when we first got her and thumped at me) and snuggling with her on my lap. She now comes to me when I come home and call her name. She's in her large cage during the day while we are at work, and then comes out in the evening to socialize. The dogs don't bother her and the cat (surprisingly) isn't too interested in her. She's our oldest resident and is used to me bringing everything home. She loves to play with boxes and run through tubes. She's a good hay eater and loves her greens. I am now a very happy bunny owner.

I adopted a black Dutch rabbit about 2 months ago. A perfect addition to our family of my husband, myself, our 2 boys (5 and 13), and our loved cat. My Bunny (Oreo)loved everyone instantly and even our Cat who is 12 years old and quite a Diva. She will perch herself up high and watch him play and run around the house. I have even taken him to my son's K-5 class and he just lapped up the attention. He is very patient and very loving. He gives kisses to everyone who comes into our house. It was love at first twitch. He is well cared for and has everything he could want but his favorite thing in the world is when we take him for "walks" (even though he is still getting used to his harness) outside in the backyard. (Fenced in and very carefully watched.)

I've always had alot of animals in my life time, but never a bunny. Didn't think they would be a good pet. Then one day where I work, my boss raises rabbits, and I started falling in love with her dutch bunnies. I have two now, a male{steal}who turned one on 3/26/07, and his sister{steal}who was borned on 2/16/07. They are both litter box trained, and I keep them in my house. I have a small dog, and they both love to play with her. Had my male fixed, so there's no accidents!! Lilly, when she reaches the right age, i'd like to have her bred just one time. She has one blue eye, and one brown eye. So that really makes her special. They are wonderful companions and i'd recommend them all the way for anyone. I'm 51 years old, and they make great house pets for me. By the way my males name is Wizzer. Janell

I've got a Dutch Rabbit called Schmichael. He is is a house rabbit and has the complete run of the house. He isn't at all destructive and is the most friendly bunny ever. He follows me everywhere and I have to be careful not to step back as he is always just a few inches behind me! He came to live with me almost two years ago when his previous owners decided they could no longer care for him. He is such good company!

debbie 2007-06-16

i got a dwarf rabbit the other day. he is a very happy rabbit and very curious. he likes it when i hold him and is not scared of me. he also likes me hand feeding him.

Hi, I have a Dutch Rabbit, I got for FFA. She is so energetic! She likes to run around the house and play with the dog. I got her a ball she can fit in and she runs around in it (sometimes). Her name is star and she is tan and white! She is a very pretty rabbit. She is purebred and I really want to breed her, but I'm not sure she is old enough.

My best Friends breeds dutches they are so sweet and beautiful! I absoulutely love her adult doe Thumper, she is a sweet black dutch doe. I finally talked my landlord into letting me get a rabbit. So i am getting one of hers as soon as they are born and ready to leave Thumper. DUTCHES RULE!

Reba/Mahriah 2007-05-10

I had an agouti dutch rabbit called Miffy. I got him on my 12th birthday (September). He was so tame and sweet, and would lay next to me for hours. He loved to be fussed, and was just the perfect pet! Sadly, in April of the next year, he had to be put down. He had an abscess caused by Pastuerella, and it was rooted in his lungs and hearts :( He was lovely, and although we had him for less than a year, he made a big impact in my family. I'm 14 now, almost 15, and have a black dutch called Pepsi, and he is similar in personality to Miffy, although he loves to pull on my clothing! I'd recommend a dutch to anyone, they're lovely rabbits and have great characters.

Tasha 2007-05-05

i just got a dutch rabbit yesterday. i got it at the pet store and it was only 7 weeks old. the rabbit is just so friendly. when i did get the rabbit it was going to become an outdoor rabbit at some time, but then my mom said that if it only gets to be really small then we can keep it inside and have it as an indoor rabbit. then at some point get an outdoor rabbit to put outside in my cage that i have in my backyard to give my other rabbit outside some company. i named my rabbit butterscotch because around its neck it is white and the rest of the body is brown and it is really cute and stuff.

Hi my name is emma. i have two dutch rabbits one is brown and white and the other is black and white. The brown one is called penny she's mine the other is called pidge he's my brothers. Penny lets you pick her up and will lie with her back on my knee, once she even fell asleep. We have made a huge run for them so they can have a big run round whenever they want! Once when i let them out to have a run around they came into the house. After 3 hours of trying to find them i found them lying underneath a radiator asleep! [how cute is that ] i would hugely recommend them to children aged 9+ because theyre so easy to look after

Hello, Our Dutch is a brown female named Fluffy. She is three and a half and has been a pleasure since the first day we bought her. She is litter trained and lives in our garage. Fluffy also spends a lot of time roaming our yard without a fence to stop her. The only thing we have to worry about are the predators that may harm her. She is playful and responds to commands as well as most cats. I would recommend a Dutch to anyone.

Giannone 2007-02-18

I have a male dutch rabbit. He is about 3 pounds right now and probably won't get much larger. I am trying to find someone to breed him with but I don't have a female yet. I might breed him with a himilayan or a harlyquin. I have 15 rabbits now. I have 3 netherland dwarves, 1 flemish Giant, 2 mini lops, 2 harlyquins, 2 himilayans, and 4 mini rex rabbits. I am in the process of breeding the pairs and so far 3 of my rabbits are pregnant. I also have goats, ducks, hamsters, rats, turtles, and snakes. I am trying to breed all of them but I don't have mates for my rat, turtle, snake, dutch rabbit, and my flemish giant. I need to know if anyone has any animals for these that I mentioned. I also need feed for them at cheap prices. I am buying them from a feed store and they can be pricey. My e-mail address is : ChristopherB@Agde.com. Contact me if you can help. Thanks.

A Year and a half ago I got a dutch bunny. I named her Harmony. She lives outside in the hutch I made her. She is brown and white. She likes to come inside and play with our cat's toys in the kitchen. When she's tired she will jump on the couch with me. My dog acts like a mother to her. I love dutch bunnies!

Cassidy 2006-08-30

My name is Christina. I adopted a black and white female Dutch Rabbit from our local SPCA a week ago, her name is Princess Raven. She is so much fun! My children adore her, she is their first pet. I would have never thought a rabbit could be so loving and fun to have. She loves to play hide and seek and she loves to race with the kids. She has turned my den into an obstical course. That's Ok, whatever makes her happy and she does her binkies at the end of all of her laps. She comes to me for cuddle and rest time, my kids for fun and games and my husband...well she scares him. I think she gets a kick out of that. She is truly a joy to have. We love her so much.

christina 2006-08-17

I have a Dutch bunny that we got from a friend of ours. She is named Oreo, not the most original name, I know. She was about 4 when we got her and is now about 10 years old! She is the cutest, sweetest rabbit ever. She likes me the best out of my family and if we are all sitting on the ground she will find me and hop into my lap. I love her so much! I am thinking of getting a baby dutch soon, too, but I still have to deal with my parents. I hope you all like your Dutch bunnies as much as I do!

Allison 2006-07-29

Hi! I just love my dutch rabbits Mary, Margeret, and Ruthy. They are so cute and I am learning lots! I've had them for 2 or so years. I am learning new things I never knew about them before. Thank-you for having so much info. It will be so helpful.:}

trisha 2006-07-19

I am so happy! Today I got my first Dutch rabbit, Clover. She is seven weeks old. Although she is a mix I can already see the dutch in her personality. She is very curious about everything. What does that taste like? What happens if I do this? She is also very outgoing and loves in play peek a boo by hiding her face, then poking out to see what I will do. I am happy to join all the dutch owners in all the stories and funny comments!

lulu 2006-07-03

I am really excited after reading all of these comments because tomorrow, I am getting my first dutch rabbit! I can't wait to join in all the bunny stories! Thanks for all your comments because this will make me a better pet owner!

Lu Lu 2006-07-02

ashley 2006-07-02

I have two Bunnies. Their names are Snowball and Cutie and they are white and brown. they are good friends and both girls. snow is fuzzier than cutie. they hop around a lot.

nicole 2006-06-30

I have a 2 1/2 year old rabbit named Framson. i know its a stupid name, but its the first one that popped into my head. he doesnt have the full stripe around his back, its just on his left arm. it kind of looks like a cast. he is so timid, i love him soo much!

Kodie 2006-06-12

We had a male checkered giant rabbit once, and it was rather aggresive once it got older. for this reason I either recommend a female of any rabbit or to get your male neutered. Currently we have a dutch female named Pamula and she is delightful. She lives in the breeze way of our house with me, my mom, my uncle and my aunt so she gets plenty of attention. She also shares her home with our 4 dogs, breaded dragon, sugar glider, tortoise and cat. She enjoys them all, her favorite is my uncles dog Hughy. She loves to play but once you pick her up she is very calm. She walks on a leash and I would recommend a dutch for someone who is able to give it enough time for they are very sweet. We will be taking her to her first show in August since she has almost perfect markings.

Samantha 2006-06-11

I have two Tri Colour 11 week old dutch rabbits called Tigger and Benjamin. They are very cute and very unusual, great for showing though, because they're really rare. I would recommend them for any ages as they are perfect for handling and quite small compared to others.

Charlotte 2006-05-20

THOR, THE THUNDER BUNNY, HAS BEEN A GREAT ADDITION TO THE FAMILY! EVEN THE CAT LIKES HIM...NOW THAT HE'S NO LONGER AFRAID OF THE BUN. THOR'S ABOUT 5 MONTHS OLD RIGHT NOW AND RECUPERATING FROM NEUTERING. IT'S WEBSITES LIKE THIS THAT HELP NEW OWNERS LIKE MYSELF CARE FOR THESE DEAR LITTLE ONES.

JANNIE 2006-05-04

I own a mis-marked Dutch rabbit named Cody. She is usually very sweet but has a tendency to grunt, growl, and nip. She loves to run around and do binkies and Bunny 500's. Two things I can't stand about her is that she constantly sheds and chews cords. You can't even pet her with clumps of loose hair flying everywhere.

Emily 2006-04-26

My sister and I got two Dutch rabbits when I was 16 and she was 11. They are now about 5 years old and are the nicest pet bunnies I have ever seen! We have a male named Rebel and a female named Misty (brother and sister) and they get along wonderfully. We got them neutered and spayed, of course. I used to work at a daycare and I would frequently take the rabbits there and let the little kids pet and hold them--they behaved so well! They are both house trained and are basically like cats. They will fully stretch out on their backs and let us pet their tummies (sometimes they fall asleep!) I would highly reccomend a dutch rabbit to anyone with children.

Hi i have a really cute dutch dwarf rabbit. he is black and white. he is about 1 year old. i called him coco but me and my sister call him baby bob. he has a big play area next to his hutch. he loves digging in plants and eating cabbage and carrots. he is really lively and he is great with small children. everyone loves him and always want to stroke him. i would suggest the dutch dwarf rabbit to everyone who would like a rabbit.

Katie 2006-04-20

Hi i just got a beautiful dutch rabbit. He is sooo cute. I went to the pet store and i held him. i fell in love with him right away. He is very gentle and he isnt very jumpy when you hold him. If you get a dutch rabbit and it doesnt move alot in its cage dont worry. My rabbit which i named Jack stayed in one corner of his cage. But all they are doing is trying to adapt to their new environment. After a few days they start hopping around and playing with their toys. I recommend when you feed your rabbit dont feed it alot of carrots and vegetables. The dutches stomaches are very sensitive and they may get diaraih. I hope you have fun with your rabbit and if you dont have you should get a dutch!

Katie Wortman 2006-04-14

I have a dutch dawrf and his name is oreo. he is so cute and i got him a couple of days ago. he is the cutest pet i have ever had!

I love my Dutch Rabbits. I have a black male named bucky and a gray female named bunnie. I took both to our town fair, both got 1st place. Bucky got 1st runner up!!! It was great. Every one was telling me how beautiful my rabbits were and wanted some of their own.

About two years ago I met a dutch rabbit, and fell in love with the breed. My first one was a Tort. who would lick you and was the best mother I have ever seen. I continue to love the breed, in fact I now have about 24 rabbits, and a few pregnant ones. The dutch really have changed my life. Now instead of "normal" vacations I go to Dutch Specialty Shows. to see my rabbits go to http://bunnygirl13332.tripod.com

Lulu Riley 2006-02-07

hiya there. I have a light brown dutch rabbit ans she is so cute. She always licks me and my family and she licks my dads socks. She is so so so sweet. Her name is lady short for marmelade. She runs around my garden and when i come in from school she runs up to sniff me. Also, when my dad is in the garden gardening, Lady follows him around and once my dad was looking at what he had to do next and lady was sitting next to him looking as well and it was so so so so so cute. She has a black stripe going across her back, shes very different from the other dutch rabbits. She loves everyone!

I would like to advise everyone of critical feeding information that I just learned the hard way. We have had two Dutch bunnys for a little over 8 years. We were feeding alfalfa pellets for many years only to learn that this is not good food for a rabbit after about 6 months. Too much calcium that leads to health probelms that can be fatal. Timothy hay and timothy hay pellets is the best diet and orchard grass works well too. This advice comes from the doctor so please find a doctor for your rabbit that treats rabbits, have yearly check ups and feed them Timothy hay products after they are 6 months old. Oxbow is the best I have found and they are on the internet. I just lost one of my boys today and I want to help everyone avoid my mistakes. They are wonder friends and pets and live 8-12 years of more with proper care and diet.

Hi, my black dutch bunny is the cutest bunny alive! she sometimes even licks me and my family. she is called Meg. we just sort of went into a pet shop and brought her! she was so easy to litter-train. she got the idea about 2 days after we got her! She is just so affectionate. she hops about the room and chins everything in sight! sometimes she just WON'T go in her cage when we want her to. when she in a cheeky mood she sometimes chews the cords and wires.(we let her chew the papers scattered around the room) She also DOESN'T like going to bed (like me) and chews at the bars desparately. AND she sometimes chews and digs at the carpet and then we squirt her with the water sprayer. But i still think she's the cutest bunny on earth...

Zoe Age 8 2006-01-19

I am thinking about getting a bunny. After looking at this website, I like the Dutch bunny and the Holland lop because they are small, sweet, and can live a long time is what I read. If I get a bunny, I will get it in probably about 2 weeks. I hope I do, and I hope my bunny is sweet, lives a long time, and is small (not overweight)!

Esther 2006-01-19

I bought a dutch rabbit and it has a really cute personality and it is a good house pet they don't stink as much as the bigger rabbits do!

Kelcy 2006-01-16

I got my first bunny a few weeks ago and happens to be a dutch bunny. As soon as I saw her I knew I had to take her home. She was soooo loving the first time we held her, already giving kisses. Who can refuse that. Just too cute. Easy to potty train and gets along with my boston terrier. Her easy going attitude is a huge plus. I Love My Bunny.

Judy 2006-01-02

i have a little dutch boy who is now 3 years old. i got him when he was about 2 months old. he is an absolute pleasure as a pet. he was so easy to toilet train, it only took about two days. the longer i've had him the more his personality has come out. we've had a few close calls with his health - a bowel obstruction which the vet thought would be untreatable, luckily he got through this. i would recommend dutch bunnies to anyone contemplating getting a rabbit. they are a great size, soooo cute, easy to train and have great individual personalities. my boy even plays with cat toys! SO CUTE!!!

Kate 2005-12-31

I have a Dutch Rabit and i think that he is one of the best pets i've every have. What i found out is that they sleep with their eyes open and their noses not moving, so that helps alot. I think that they are very good with children and make excellent pets.

Anonymous 2005-12-27

We have had our Dutch Bunny for almost two years and he is an absolute joy for our entire family!! We picked him out at our local humane society and can't believe nobody wanted him. He was a present for my then six year-old daughter and she was delighted; he was approcimately 4 months old when we got him. Our Prince loves to eat bunny treats and fresh carrots and celery. At night he sits between my fiance' and I and watched TV. When people stop over and aren't aware that we have Prince they are shocked to see a bunny hopping all around the house and can't believe he is litter box trained! Everyone should have one!!

robin 2005-11-28

Hi Guys!! I always wanted a pet rabbit, and I'm so glad I got my little bunny - Chloe!! She is a blue dutch. I got her when she was about 4 months old. (Her previous owner had a rabbit and when Chloe came into the picture the other rabbit didn't like it too much so she had to put Chloe up for adoption) Chloe is a joy to have around. She runs around the house like she is crazy, with her head twisting and legs popping. She is very loveable, she jumps up on the couch with me, and give me kisses. I love her!!

kayla 2005-10-21

Hey I just got a baby dutch rabbit. She is my first rabbit after owning many pets and she is amazing! She looks different to the dutch rabbits on this site. She is the same size and shape but she is all white and has grey ears and nose. She has red eyes. She also has one ear stuck up and one ear lopped. =) Dawn, 18, England

I used to have a black and white dutch rabbit who I had to give away because I was going to rent a house that wouldn't let pets in, i was very sad and i am hopefully going to get another one. TIP Patches is a good name for a dutch rabbit.

I have been looking at many different web sites and yours is the best, i love DUTCH BUNNIES!!!

Miss S 2005-10-09

I HAVE A BLUE AND WHITE DUTCH RABBIT, HER NAME IS BABY. I GOT HER WHEN SHE WAS 4WEEKS OLD. SHE NOW IS 6 MONTHS OLD. SHE IS SO SWEET, SHE WALKS ON A LEASH, SHE IS LITTER BOX TRAINED. SHE RUNS AROUND OUR HOUSE AND JUMPS IN THE AIR. SHE IS VERY PLAYFUL, LOVABLE. I HAVE 2 KIDS AND THEY LOVE TO WALK HER ON THE LEASH OUTSIDE, WE TAKE HER TO THE PARK WITH US. I WOULD RECOMMEND THESE RABBITS TO ANYONE. THEY TRULY ARE SMART AND SWEET.

HEATHER STAERK 2005-10-04

No bunny is an "excellent" first choice for a pet for a child. Rabbits need a much care as a dog or a cat, and possiby more. Most rabbits are terrified of being lifted or "snuggled", which will be quite dissapointing to children. Rabbits can be wonderful and rewarding pets, but you need to be a "rabbit person".

David Ross 2005-09-27

I have a blue and white Dutch rabbit called Wimsey. He is about a year old now and has a lovely personality. He lived in the house when he was a baby as it was winter and is house-trained. He still comes into the house quite often, and thinks he is a little dog! He is a delightful pet and much more sociable than our previous rabbit.

Shelley 2005-08-28

I have a black dutch named Bilbo and he's a total sweetie pie! I LOVE DUTCHES!

victoria 2005-08-25

hi, i have a black and white dutch called humbug(because hes black and white) he is really cute and he can go up the stairs. He loves to play and hes adorable x

Katie 2005-08-19

I've had my dutch rabbit, Cookie, for about a year now. We're the best of buddies! She's very sweet and loves to nuzzle and get this; she loves to lay on her back! She will fall asleep in my arms on her back like a baby. She has a huge personality and can get a little edgy when there's too many strangers around but that's about all. I've never been bitten by her. She's energetic and loves to romp in the grass and dig in the dirt. I LOVE MY DUTCH!!!

Kelly 2005-08-19

Hi i have just gotten a dutch. He is called Billy and he is really nice and good-natured. He is a black. I would recommend a dutch rabbit to younger rabbit-loving teenagers like me, but remember to clean them out!

emma 2005-08-17

the dutch rabbit is the best pet that we could have ever owned! my nephew has cerebral palsy and they are really great with him and as well as he is with them!

I had a dutch and won a best of breed and a 4th place in showmaneship . Now I have another one. In my opinon they are the best rabbits out there.

Melissa P. 2005-07-27

I had a dutch rabbit named Lulu and she was my birthday present when i turned 11 years old. When i got her she was the calmest, sweetest little rabbit I had seen. But we had her only for less than a week because she was favoring her right arm. Even though I loved her sooo much we had to take her back to the petshop. Take your injured animals and see what is wrong. It may be causing your animal a lot of pain.

Amelia 2005-07-25

It's about time I found a site with a good rabbit breed and some useful information, I once met a dutch rabbit and instantly fell in love with it. I am now looking for a dutch to have for myself.

Jenny 2005-07-22

i've been breeding dutch for a few years and find them so much fun. I love the fact that you can tell their markings and color rate from the time they are born. Dutch are also great moms. I bought 2 does (a black and a tort) in feb and bred them both at the same time. They both had their babies on easter sunday, however my black (who was just 8 months old) died just after giving birth. She had 6 babies who were still alive but getting very hungery. My tort doe also had 6 babies. I decided to try putting the 6 orphaned babies with her even though people said that was to many to foster. I didn't listen to them and I'm glad I didn't. My tort doe took the 6 babies and raised all 12. When I bought the 2 does in feb I didn't really want to buy the tort, but I did, and I was sure glad I did. Not only do dutch make great moms but they also make great foster moms too. I love my dutch and will never stop breeding them.

Jamie 2005-07-22

They are the perfict rabbit for showing at a county fair. I have two and love them very much. I won best of breed the first time I went to the fair, and 4th place the second year. THEY ARE THE BEST!

melissa P 2005-07-18

I have two really cute little dutch rabits Toffee and Fudge. Toffee is absoloutly georgeous and is nearly five months she is ginger and white and loves dandilion leaves, plantin and rabbit chocolate buttons, so we have to be careful not to fead her to many treats. She started to look sad and lonely so we bought her a little sister Fudge. Fudge is a brown and white dutch rabbit and her favourite treat is cabbage. Both of them get along really well and wash each other all the time. They only ever scrap when we put both of them in one hutch, but its only play fighting. Both of them love to play with toys that jingle like cat balls and keys. Toffees a clean freak and keeps everthing in one corner of her hutch wheras fudge has evertthing everywhere. Their both uber cudly and will sit on your lap while you watch tv for hours. Neither of them have bit or wet on me since I have gotten them and they love to wash me. I dont know what i would do without them and I think that they are the nicest breed of rabit you can get.

lizzie 2005-07-16

Finally, we found a site with some valuable information. Our Dutch Rabbit is only 6 weeks old and he is THE most lovable small pet I've ever had. He's grey and white and about 1.5 pounds right now !!!

Erynn & Emma 2005-07-13

I had a dutch rabbit, and he was the greatest. He let me hold him and he never bit me.He was calm and great for hands on people!

I have a wonderful dutch rabbit. His name is Cookie and is brown and white. I also have other pets but he is definitely the best to cuddle and play with! I love him and will be so sad when he leaves us. He is quite old almost 6 years old but is still as playful as when he was 6 weeks old! I hope he lives to be 10! Thats all I can say I love him and would do anything for him!

After i get done reading the great news, i tell cheyenne and she gos out and buys me yummy treats. Well, got to go, time for bed. Bye, LOVE, GIZMOE

I have a Dutch Rabbit. Her name is Lucy, and she is eight weeks old. She loves to eat bananas and carrots. Dutch rabbits are easygoing and gentle; I carry Lucy around in a purse and in old doll beds. She loves to pose for pictures XD and be treated like a baby. I fell in love with Lucy upon laying eyes on her. A sweet demeanor, a cuddly face, the breed is excellent for first -- time owners!

kyla 2005-07-05

Ten years ago my parents let me get my first rabbit. My brother and I picked a little black Dutch rabbit and we named her Duchess. She lived eight long, happy years. Duchess left such an impact on our family we haven't had the heart to replace her with another bunny and our dog lies under her abandoned hutch in our backyard and sniffs the bottom of the cage looking for his buddy. If I were to get another rabbit in the future, I'd definitely consider getting another Dutch. They're jewels!

Natalie 2005-07-04

I have had a black and white Dutch rabbit for a year and a half now. His name is Peter and he is 2 years old. He is my first rabbit and i wouldn't chose any other breed to be my first! He has really funny characteristics, he hisses, thumps his feet, growls and when he's happy he purrs and licks me. I love him so much!

Harriet 2005-06-30

I raise this breed of rabbit and it is very kind, gentle, and great with kids. They are wonderful rabbits!

Anonymous 2005-06-29

Dutch rabbits are kind and sweet and the perfect pet for all ages!

Danielle Becker 2005-06-25

I just got my 2 Dutch Rabbits, and they are so nice and loveable. If you want to get a rabbit my best guess is you get a dutch, or get a flopp eared rabbit because they are also nice.

Amanda 2005-06-23

I have a dutch rabbit that is 2 months old. I got him when he was 4 weeks old and named him Buster. He is the sweetest thing and so goofy!! He loves attention and loves to give kisses. If I am sitting on the couch he jumps up and walks to me and sniffs me and kisses me. And he loves to eat everything!! I fell in love with him instantly though. I had another rabbit that passed away 2 years ago. He was a Holland Lop/Mini Lop mix. I had him for 10 years so it was hard for me to be able to get another one. But Buster cured that for me. He is so much fun, and absolutely adorable. Anyone looking to get a rabbit, I would highly recommend a Dutch. They are sweet, social and tons of fun!

Theresa 2005-06-21

Hi. i have a dutch rabbit and she is the best pet i ever had. when i first received her, she was so small she fit in the center of my palm. we live in a house and she would go outside and dig. she was potty trained and we taught her a lot of tricks. she use to growl and stomp her feet when we came home late. three years after we got her we had to put her to sleep.

Ally 2005-06-14

When I was about 12 yrs old I owned a Northeastern cottentail (a wild rabbit) and it was a lot friendlier than the Dutch I own today. I purchased the rabbit from a local shelter already spayed & at about a year old. I've spent multitudes of hours with the bunny, but it still lunges, grunts, and scratches even if I just sit down next to her and don't touch her! She has my entire apartment to roam around freely (which is huge)and lots of toys just for her, but she would rather chew electrical cords, my couch, wood furniture and holes in my wall to wall carpeting!

Jessie 2005-06-13

I have one black dutch rabbit, with beautiful, and flawless markings. I don't know how old she is because we adopted her as a free rabbit when she was a one year old. When we got her she had mites, so we had to take care of that which cost us about $100 per shot. When we put our hands in her cage she would growl and pounce on our hands and start biting them, so to make her nicer we had her spayed which cost about $125. our free rabbit turned into about a $300 rabbit. But she is a genius for a rabbit she knows how to count. This is what I do, I hold up two playing cards and point to them and tell her what they are and ask her which one is bigger or the greatest. then I hold them out to her face up and she picks the one out of the two cards with her teeth, and it's the highest number.

ABBY 2005-06-08

I have a rabbit calle Dandy, and he is the most intelligent creature of the sort, though he tends to bite now and again. I would recommend a dutch to anyone who has a lot of spare time and will not lock them in a hutch all day. Dandy is free to roam the garden all day - that's why he is so bright.

rebecca jordan 2005-06-06

i got a dutch bunny for my b-day a couple years ago and i fell in love with him and now i want more. he is so sweet. him and my dog play with each other, it is the cutest thing i have ever seen. they are such sweet animals im doing a project on him for science. :)

They are great and exciting.Super fast, energetic.nice and soft great for a pet.

michael mchally 2005-04-14

I have 1 black dutch and 1 blue dutch. I fell in love with the breed instantly. They have excellent litter training habbits and one of the sweetest smartest breeds i own. My black dutch is almost a year old and such a bundle of joy. He was litter trained in about 2 days of our getting him. We got him from a shelter i volunteer for. My blue dutch is 9weeks old and such fun. She was litter trained the day we got her so shes a very smart girl. She will be going to her first show in July. I would recommend A dutch to anyone getting their first rabbit. They are very easy to train and very beautiful. Dutches are only a small size so you will only need a small sized dog crate or pen to put them in. Grooming is needed maybe every 2 weeks depending on if they are molting or not.

Brittany D 2005-04-14

I actually am looking into getting one of these rabbits. They are very good with children with a respectable life span. I have heard that a dutch is the way to go!

na 2005-04-12

my dutch rabbit is the best!!! his name is Oreo and he is the sweetest thing possible. We bring him inside. he loves to jump around and be petted. If you are thinking about getting a rabbit for a pet you should totally get a dutch! MEZ

I just bought two 8 week old dutch bunnies. ive had rabbits before and so far these prove to be the most friendly and well tempered breed. theyre curious little girls and like to roam around. theyre the most eager breed ive had and i would highly suggest them to anyone wishing to purchase a bunny.

ABBY 2005-04-06

We have a tortoise dutch named Blossom. She is five years old. My daughter begged for a bunny for years. A Dutch was the perfect choice. She is amazing! She is litter trained, loves people, wants to be with the family, and sleeps in the bed with my daughter. She has never had to live in a cage, we gave her the entire screened porch. She will come to the door of our den and scratch like a cat to come inside. When my daughter first got her she painted her nails every week. It was too cute. Now that my daughter is seveteen she does not have the time for her. We did not research much before getting her, we had no idea she could live to be 15 years old. She is still a bright spot in our day to day lives. She will lay on her back and sleep for hours completly relaxed, people cannot believe it. Then when she wakes up she smiles and shows her full teeth like bugs bunny. Dutch rabbits are as great a pet you will ever find given the right attention. Denise 04-03-05

A very good natured pet if you spend time down at his level, not so keen on being picked up, like many rabbits i suppose.Quite a lively personality too.

My wife and I have a Dutch bunny who is Medium Brown and White, named Bailey, and is just under four years old. She is not just a pet but a member of our family, she is our first child and is treated as such. Our lives are so much brighter because she is around. She is a house rabbit and has her own bathroom, dishes, bed, toys, and is fed nothing but the best food. We even buy her Christmas presents and celebrate her birthday. She loves bananas and her papaya treats. She has such a personality and is so social and loving it is truly hard to consider her an animal, but more of a person. She is the most affectionate rabbit I have ever seen. We love her more than anything and pray every day that she will live as long of a life as possible. We had her spayed before she was a year old, and her vet is one of the best in the midwest. I definitely recommend bringing this animal into your life, I never thought I would care for and love a rabbit as I was a dog person before, but she truly is one awesome animal and we are blessed to have her.

ben 2005-03-24

My rabbit is a brown dutch. He is just so cute! His name is Ralph. I got him at the age of 3 weeks and he has been hyper ever since. I absolutely adore his whiskers. If you take care of them properly they can live from 10-15 years. GET A DUTCH!!!

Darla 2005-03-23

I just got a Dutch rabbit. It’s about 7 to 8 weeks old. I got it just so my wife and me can share something together. I had him for a day and I already love him. He is very shy but he’s getting use to us. I’m starting to train him to use the litter box, he getting there. His name is Booboo, but I call him Bugs, as in Bugs bunny. He’s gray all over with gray eyes, and white paws.

We just got a dutch rabbit, she is 3 months old and simply adorable. She is very active and sweet. When you pet her she holds still and wants to be picked up. I dont know much about rabbits but I recommend going Dutch!

Kris 2005-02-22

To the person with the shy, black bunny: i think midnight would be a good name. If it is a boy, maybe Shy Guy!

Kris 2005-02-22

I have a black and white bunny. I think she is 2 years old and she is sooo cute even though she bites a little. She is a dutch and my other rabbit is a dwarf rabbit. he is black and white and 7 months old and doesnt bite. I love them both!!!

Raveena Sangha 2005-01-27

The Dutch Rabbit is a good rabbit for small children. But only if you have never had them bred. When you do breed a female they tend to get vicious and short tempered. A male if bred often will remain sweet. If not bred often they tend to get violent. All around if kept alone in seperate cages they can be a perfect 4-H and all around great experience and pet for children.

Lexi 2005-01-21

I have a blue and white dutch bunny. He is the first pet I have had as an adult and my first bunny. He has a great disposition, is very playful, and loves to be petted. He is easy to care for and was easy to litterbox train. He pretty much trained himself. They are very smart animals. He loves to play. He runs all over the room and binkys high! He has a ball that he likes to roll around and he likes to hide in his little huts made out of cardboard boxes. He loves treats such as raisins, apples, carrots, broccoli, oranges, cilantro, mint, and parsley. He seems particularly fond of the mint and will pull it right out of your hand and gulp it down! : ) He does require alot of attention as they do get lonely but he is so worth it! He also gives bunny kisses which is a high honor. They will only groom some one they truly trust and love. He also knows that i always kiss his nose and has started to put his nose out for kisses! So cute. Bunnies are a great pet if you have the time for them but they also require alot of research. They are a fragile animal and need the proper care. But if you are considering one for a pet, a dutch is great to start out with. But be prepared. They can live up to around 10-15 years if properly cared for.

i have two little gdoe dutch rabbits, one agouti colored and one white with brown ears feet and tail. they may be small but their appetite is huge. i feed them willow prunings as they love to strip the bark and it is good for their teeth. i have a little black and white buck arriving soon so that i can start breeding. mine(unlike the other rabbits in the comments)do not eat bananas, their favourite snack is rock melon and red capsicums (or bell peppers for you americans). i must alternate between keeping them inside for the harsh new zealand winter and outside for the temperate summer. my favourite thing about them is watching them sleep sprawled out in a heap in the sun with my new zealand rabbit doe

well a dutch rabbit is a very good pet. they make great pets for children and adults also. you can keep them indoors or outdoors, but it is best to keep them indoors. i dont know much about them yet though. well all i can say is that they make great pets.

I have two dutch rabbits. One I rescued from a friend how was going to give her to the human society because her dog was hurting it. I took her home and named her Kidny. Shortly after my other bunney White Fuge got her pregnant. Pretty soon I am going to have little bunnies!

I LOVE RABBITS

Anonymous 2004-11-11

I have a one year old brown and white dutch rabbit, "Mr Bun Buns", we adopted him from my sister-in-law who found out she was having a baby and was having a hard time with her pregnancy. He has been a complete joy (when he is not taking lumps out of the carpet). This is my first pet (apart from Goldfish) and he amazes me with his little personality. He loves nose rubbing which we do on a regular bases and I can hear him grinding his teeth with contentment!!! Also he just loves bananas!!!

We have a four year old chocolate Dutch named Shamokin. He is truly a marvelous pet - much like a puppy. He follows us around the house. He wakes us up each morning with rabbit kisses. He is a joy!

I have a lovely brown and white 11 week old male dutch rabbit called Hazel, after one of the rabbits in watership down. He likes to show his affection by licking my finger, he is the most friendly rabbit I have ever owned.

Mrs T Davis 2004-10-05

I have a few Dutch rabbits. It is so much fun to show and breed them. They are such sweet animals. I love Dutch rabbits!

We got "Cocoa Fluff" a number of years ago now......he has to be at least 4 years old. My son wanted a bunny for Easter SO BADLY!! I thought, "what am I getting myself into now....." Of course, who is so attached to the little guy now that my son is a teenager and has to be reminded constantly to give the poor baby food and water..........ME.........THE MOM!!! I have been through two expensive episodes with him staying at the vet and having surgery and I fuss over him like the baby of the family. His favorite treat? Bananas, like I noticed someone else wrote.......he goes crazy for them.......likes to eat them right out of the peel while you hold it for him....like a monkey! I only wish he was less nervous with people, but, when relaxed, he will lie down and watch TV with us......

I have recently brought a male Dutch rabbit he is blue and white, he is 12 weeks old, eating and chewing everything in site. I am training him as a house rabbit as he will not grow very big. I am very surprised at how quickly he has adapted to his new suroundings.

It is so easy to see that those people who posted their tributes to their pets are truly the caregivers of the animal world. The animals are part of the family and they realize what a treasure it is to have them, even if it is only for a while. We know that the time with them will be short...but precious. We know that in the end we will be hurt by the loss of these dear critters. But we chose to love them again and again. Their claim to immortality is that they will live on forever in our hearts and souls.

Adele Infante 2004-08-25

my dutch rabbit, frankie, was not a pet, but a member of the family. we only had him for less than three years, so his time with us was cut short, but he was amazing. he loved attention and his bunny massages, loved bananas and grapes, and after eating a grape he would wipe his mouth to clean the grape juice. he always had an adorable look about him, and made us laugh all the time. he always found something hilarious to do, like get his head stuck in a tissue box. he showed his love by giving kisses. he dyed the fur between his ears blue by rubbing it on a blue salt lick he had just licked. he was punk bunny for a while, till it shed out. he will always be in our hearts as the most special bunny in the world. he was loved dearly.

I had a cute little black and white dutch rabbit named nibbles.I treated her like my little girl.Sadly she died yesterday in my arms at the vets office. She died of flystrike.I did not find the cause until i did my own research on the internet last night.I had her for the last nine months, and miss her very dearly already. She was the first bunny i ever owned. She will be missed greatly.

My name is Darla and i bought a Dutch bunny around 3 years ago. He was about 2 months old when i bought him, and he is 3 years old now. He can be michevious, but what a sweet little guy. His name is Mr.Bunny, and he loves to play hide and seek. One cute thing he likes to do is to get a running start, then he will jump straight up in the air. I recommend a dutch rabbit for anyone looking to buy a rabbit. He is so calm and mild when i hold him, and he loves to be rubbed, especially on his little head.

Darla 2004-06-04

i have had many dutch rabbits and all with a good temprament sadly my last one died a couple of months ago and is missed and still loved with all my heart, he was the best rabbit in the world he was so friendly and loving he was just like one of the family! i am definatly considering another dutch i would strongly recomend this pet.

Laura 2004-06-03

We have a one and a half year old blue & white dutch--Max von Smoot. We call him "The Smoot". We have had several other rabbits in the past, but he is the smartest and friendliest. He likes to "flop" over and play dead bunny and he looks forward to his nightly petting where he does this funny noise like grinding his teeth, and when you rub under his chin, he licks your fingers very tenderly. He has two rooms to roam freely that are bunny proofed with lots of toys and when we are home at night and on weekends he tears around the rest of the house. He is a true joy to my family and we will always own a dutch!(Maybe a couple someday)Max is very good about using his box which is in a cage that we kept him in the first year we had him. It broke our hearts to put him up every night, so we worked with him until he uses his box all the time. He is very patient with my son and has only bitten or scratched rarely, and that was when we were picking him up to put him back in his cage. He enjoys organic spring mix every morning and he loves dried pineapple and papaya which help keep fur broken down in his system. He also loves his yogurt treats/vitamins. I recommend this type of rabbit if you are getting a bunny to love and enjoy.

Sherri 2004-05-20

hi i got my rabbit when he was 8 weeks old. now he is about 9 months old. my pet rabbit is a dutch and his name is Ben. i keep him in my room in a large oversized cage so he has room to exercise and have fun. most of the time i let him free in my room. even though most people think they feed the rabbit, clean the cage, and put the rabbit into the cage, there is way more than that. they are like a human they need TLC and you need to hold them atleast once a day. you always have to take them out of their cage to exercise. you should always be nice to the rabbit if you want the rabbit to be nice to you. i also have a pet cat who is 17 years old(in our years) they both get along great. if you dont think you can handle a dog i would not recomend getting a rabbit, they are more work than yu think! maybe you should start out with an easer pet to take care of. but i would recommend rabbits to all ages especially a Dutch. they are such sweethearts, they are always there when you need them. my life would not be the same with out my cat or my rabbit. now that my cat is getting old i have a rabbit who is always there.

Kyleigh 2004-05-09

I have a Dutch black and white rabbit named Amber. He is a male although when he was born they said he was female. He is almost 5 years old and very sweet. He follows me around the kitchen and runs laps from the front door to the other end of the kitchen around the trashcan. He wants to be held all day and petted. He has a very distinct personality and likes and dislikes. He was born in Houston Texas and immigrated with us to Israel. He is now a new immigrant. The trip was not easy but he made it. He is now settled in and loves his new home. He is one of the family just like my other children. Life would not be the same without him.

RITA 2004-04-26

I have never been in to rabbits. Then last night I fell in love with a little, furry guy who is SUCH a sweetheart. And yes, he is a Dutch!!! Only 8 weeks old and I can tell he is going to be such a doll. He is a little snuggler when I hold him, and likes to have fun when I put him on the floor to play. He is the cutest thing ever!!! I am reading all I can to be able to take the best care possible of him!

Kristine 2004-04-24

I had a blue dutch he was 12 weeks when i got him but sadly died at the age of one year old. He was a lovely buck named Piccolo, and i loved him dearly, and I miss him very much.

I have a Dutch rabbit named Mabel, and she is absolutely wonderful. I am so glad I chose her. She is sweet and good-natured and has never bitten or scratched me (she kicked me once, but I deserved it). She also has a sense of humor that never ceases to surprise me. I would recommend a Dutch to anyone!

Hi,I have been thinking about getting a rabbit and I am on April 1st. I have looked at all the other breeds but I am in love with the Dutch so I am having that breed. I have heard so many great things about them. So if your getting a rabbit like me get a dutch because from what I have heard they are calm, sweet, friendly, cute and good natured. I am having a male and I am naming him Harvey. Thanks for doing a great website it has given me lots of info on Dutch rabbits!!! I LOVE THEM SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

Gabby 2004-03-05

I have a female, tortise shell dutch rabbit! Her name is Libby. I have had her for almost a year. She has a temper, but most of the time she is very sweet and loving. I think smaller rabbits like dutch and netherland dwarves are better pets than larger ones.

Julia May 2004-02-23

I have nine dutch rabbits. I have one with a blue eyes. They are so cute. They watch tv, eat pizza, drink pepsi, and like to play with footballs. The oldest is three years, the youngest is six months. They make awesome pets and are my favorite animal.

I have 4 English Spot rabbits and one dutch male, and I have to say the dutch rabbit is much friendlier and good natured, all my rabbits are wonderful but the dutch rabbits do tend to have a good all round temperament and are very loving.

Denize 2004-01-19

Hi, I had a black and white dutch and he was the most friendly rabbit that I have ever met. He was very social and loved people and our dog very much. If you ever want a pet rabbit, definitely choose a dutch rabbit, a male if you can. They are much more friendly than the females. Mine lived to be 10 years old. They make fantastic pets!!

Stacy 2004-01-13

I have a dutch rabbit and she is very energetic. She speeds around my room and loves to snuggle. She does not like to be picked up.

Anonymous 2004-01-11

I had a cute black and white dutch and he was so nice. He loved attention and came when I called. His name was Baby because he was so small and loved being held he was like me litte baby, But unfortunately he died a few days ago and I still cry when I think about hime being gone.

Amanda 2004-01-10

Dutch Rabbits are great they are very nice and never have bitten me, but they do like to chew on your clothing but thats alright. its very funny and it doesnt hurt. if you get one it will love you very much if you spend a lot of time with it but if you get two together they will run away from you and not like you as much as they like each other. if you dont have time for it dont get one because there is nothing sadder than a bored and lonley rabbit so get two if you dont have time for it as much as you should. but they are still great for every one you just have to be gentle with them and they will love you so much but it takes some time, maybe like 1 month and they will be so much fun if you know how to take good care of them and spend a lot of time with them !!

Vedo 2003-12-22

I have two wonderful Dutch rabbits, a neutered black male named Dizzle and a brown female named Hennessey. They each have their own personalities and are the cutest rabbit couple. I love them to death and they bring me lots of happiness.

Doyng 2003-11-23

My bunny, Abby, is well natured and very friendly. A bunny is a blessing, especially Dutch. They have great personalities, and love people. They can eat and be messy, but they are made like that. They are great pets. If you have a bunny {Especially Dutch} you are an angel, and to your rabbit, you are a blessing.

christina 2003-11-22

i have a white and black striped bunny but he always trys to scratch me when i carry him.what do i do? "It sounds like your bunny is trying to get away when you pick him up. Try picking him up by the nape of the neck or under his chest with one hand and put your other hand under his back legs or hold both of his back feet in your hand. Make sure he has support for his back feet. That will make him feel secure and he may not try to get away. I hope this helps!" Dr. Jungle

karlhblanco 2003-11-20

I have a male. He is my little stud. He is so nosey but I love him to death. I am looking for more. They are hard to find so if you find one, you should take the oppurtunity. They are worth the money and work. They are sweet rabbits. They also have a gentle nature, but just like many other rabbits, they do not like to be held!
