Pony Horse Breeds
Miniature horses, known as Ponies, are popular for both children and other Equestrians!

Throughout their history, Pony breeds have been used as work animals.

They were used for driving, pulling carts, hauling loads (like coal from mines), and as children’s mounts. Ponies are also used for competition, performance, and pleasure riding. Ponies tend to have a smooth comfortable gait, making them a pleasurable riding horse. They are especially popular for children due to their smaller size. They are closer to the ground, and when well trained they are easily controlled and maneuvered. Many excel in equestrian disciplines and the show ring and the top ponies are even competitive against full size horse breeds.

Light Horses
The Appaloosa shown here is an American breed that was developed by the Nez Perce Indian tribe!

The Light Horse is well known as a pleasurable riding horse,

and many excel in competition and the show ring. These breeds are smaller than the heavy Draft Horses, and the majority of them are larger than ponies.
The light horse breeds have ancient bloodlines, connecting their ancestry back to the oldest breed of horse. There are many modern breeds of horse, over 350. The majority of these are light horses and a number of them are newer light breeds developed to suit modern times.

"I bet Slippers gets treats whenever he asks for them with a cute face like that! We just love to see such cuteness bundled up in such a soft furry package. Thanks for sharing Slippers with us!"

Cute Chinchilla – Amy

Silver Mosaic Chinchilla , Amy

Amy
"Amy is cute, soft, and finds trouble wherever she goes!"

2008-12-31

Here’s what Kara Gutierrez says about Amy:

"Amy is 3 1/2 years old and a busybody of a chinchilla. She just doesn’t sit still, unless she is sleeping. Amy is a Silver Mosaic, with a beautiful uneven coloring to her coat. She is truly a handful, like having a toddler with ADHD. While out for playtime, she is constantly going from one toy to the next, and she has the uncanny ability to FIND trouble where I least expect it.

I am submitting a few photos of Amy’s cage, which is an adapted Midwest Ferret Nation 142. Amy shares her cage with her room mate Sally, a 3 1/2 year old standard girl. They are the best of friends! I am also submitting a photo of Amy sleeping. She invented a new way to use her hammock, as a “chin” rest!

Chinchillas make wonderful pets! They are bright and inquisitive, affectionate and fun. They do not have a smell, and their fur is the softest fur in the whole world. I have a chinchilla care website if anyone is interested in learning more: www.petchinchillas.info"

"My little bunny loves to play with my hair. When I have my hair loose hanging he loves to run his body through it and pull it. He goes around in a circle until he gets tired, like a dog. Also when he runs and jumps he puts his butt to the side, it looks so funny."

"Papi is a great looking lop! Sounds like he’s a lot of fun too, especially if you have lots of long hair. Thanks for sharing him with us."
