Clown Triggerfish
Big-spotted Triggerfish
Family: Balistidae

Balistoides conspicillum
This has got to be the most creatively designed fish!
What an incredible combination of patterns, and fun colors! The Clown Triggerfish or Big-spotted Triggerfish just makes you want to smile!
The Clown Triggerfish or Big-spotted Triggerfish is one of the most spectacular looking marine species. The round spots on the lower side of the body and the ‘cigar’ lips give it the name ‘Clown’.
Like all triggers, they need lots of space, a cave or rocks to retreat into, and house them with other appropriate fish that have similar needs and can hold their own. These guys are usually expensive but are very hardy once they are eating well. They are worth every bit of the price because of the unique appearance they will give your aquarium!

Just thought Id pull out some cool animals added in the past!
Giant Red Tail Gourami
This is one big fish; curious and a pleasure to behold!
1/26/2006
The Giant Red Tail Gourami, one of only three species in this genus, is definitely the most attractive of these very large fish!
The Giant Red Tailed Gourami is a slightly smaller, more colorful version of its cousin, the true Giant Gourami, Osphronemus gouramy.
This large fish is a relatively new addition to the aquarium hobby. More colorful than its close relative the Giant Gourami, this species natural color can be quite beautiful. It has wonderful blue-green highlights and fins that are trimmed in red. With a maximum size of near to 20 inches, keepers of this fish should plan on eventually having a 100 gallon or larger tank available to house them in.
Many fish that are red or partially red are considered to be good luck by many Chinese so the demand for this red finned giant is very high!
Fischer’s Lovebird
Fischer’s Lovebird
Now this is what makes the name ‘love’ bird.

The Fischer’s Lovebird is another friendly species of lovebird
that makes an exceptional pet when hand-raised!
Though not quite as common as the Peach-faced Lovebird or the Masked Lovebird varieties, this handsome lovebird with its pleasant warm coloring and affectionate personality, has become quite popular.
This little bird will delight and amuse you with it’s playful and amusing antics. They are active intelligent little birds and make a wonderful companion and friend. An excellent beginners bird, the Fischer’s Lovebird is hardy, easy to care for, and a willing breeder.

Discus
"King of the Aquarium Fishes!
6/21/2005
Displaying a most majestic, graceful and dignified presence, the Discus fishes have been entitled "King of the Aquarium Fishes", usurping this designation from the angelfish!
Interesting and beautiful fish, Discus have captured the attention of aquarists throughout the world. These quiet, peaceful, and elegant creatures inspire appreciation and dedication like no other fish. Highly esteemed for their color, shape, and regal bearing they are often considered to be the pinnacle of fish keeping.
There have been recent revisions of the Discus genus. With many local color varieties, possibly due to natural hybridization, Discus had previously been divided into several suggested species along with a number of subspecies. Today however, from study results published in the Journal of Fish Biology by both Heiko Bleher and his associates in 2007 and Jonathan Ready, Kullander, and Ferreira in 2006, three species are acknowledged and there are no subspecies.

Mourning Doves – Ginger
This is a post by ppmint in the forum. We thought it was really good and so decided to post it here
I have a mourning dove named Ginger that I rescued 3 years ago. I nursed her back to health from a less than 20% chance of survival to full health with help from a very special vet and a lot of help from God. She is doing very well. Unfortunately, I have searched and searched for specific information on Mourning Doves as pets and come up with so little information. What I do find is so basic or generalized. The most information I've found so far is on this site. What I'm looking for is specific information on Mourning Dove behaviors when they socialize, etc. Here a few of the things I have learned from Ginger that I haven't seen any info on:
Socialization: Ginger socializes with me by cooing or she will stand in the doorway of her cage and make short "OO" sounds at me. When I do them back at her, she will repeat it. We can go back and forth like that for 10 minutes or so. She likes ringing her bells and will ring one in response to me ringing one, if she wants attention, or if she wants food or water.
Egg Laying: Ginger lays eggs and to begin with we had to take them away because she sat on them so long. We feared that she would get sick from bacteria in rotting eggs. She would keep laying more after we removed them. We were concerned about her depleting the calcium in her body because each additional batch of eggs seemed to have weaker & weaker shells. After much trial and error we discovered we could fake her out with tiny wooden craft eggs until she decided it was time to reject her "eggs". Then she didn't continue to lay more.
Mating / Bonding: I have been told that she must have a very strong bond with someone in our home (like a mate) or she wouldn't lay eggs at all. Does anybody know if this is true?
Any help on where to get more info or info about your own pet mourning dove(s) would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Red-eared Slider Turtles

A common household pet for years!
2/27/2006
Red Eared Sliders have been a favorite household pet for many years!
Because they can can tolerate a wide variety of conditions and become quite tame in captivity, Red Eared Sliders make wonderful pets. They are quiet, and when tame are calm and generally slow-moving. Consequently they don’t instill the cautious concerns that some folks have when dealing with other types of reptiles. They can be quite hardy when provided with the right environment, have fairly modest requirements, and live a long time.
Pekinese Tator Tot – Mom to Jimmie the Cat!

Tator Tot & Jimmie
“Pekinese Tator Tot is mother to a cat!”
2008-04-18
Here’s what The Jamison Family says about Tator Tot & Jimmie:
“Our Pekinese, Tator Tot, is a wonderful Mommy. Jimmy was 6 weeks old when we got him. He was a tiny kitten full of energy. Tator adopted him immediately and took over the roll of nursing him (which she did for nearly a year). Jimmy is now close to 2 years old and still loves his mommy. They cuddle and play together and Tator still cleans his ears for him. Nobody told Tator that Jimmy is a cat and she’s a dog!
“
“What a great pair! This is one of the coolest stories we have heard yet. Thanks for sharing Tator Tot and Jimmie.”

One for the Dogs
To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door – pet nose height.
Dear Dogs and Cats:
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm. Read more
