The Half-banded Spiny Eel is a great choice for those who keep a smaller aquarium!

If you’ve hesitated to purchase a spiny eel because of the size of your tank, the Half-banded Spiny Eel may be just what you are looking for. The maximum size for this handsome fish is just under 8 inches. This eel also has a uniquely different color pattern from the other Asian spiny eels. Rather than being a diamond or ‘zig zag’ type patterning, its markings are roughly vertical.

Here’s what Debbie says about Chinchi and Buddy:

“I recently adopted Chinchi and he had made himself at home his first night. This little guy is such a character and he plays with his dog friend, Buddy, they get along great. Chinchi has a dear personality and he understands when told NO but will continue misbehaving in exchange for more attention. I adore this little guy so much I am in the process of adopting 3 more.”

Here’s what Savanna says about Pumpkin:

“Pumpkin is my little man, he is a great joy. He likes to play in the tub, but only when there is no water in there. My husband and I find toy mice and little pieces of paper in the shower every morning. He drinks out of the sink and will drive me crazy until I turn it on. He sits beside me while I put my make-up on for work. He likes the radio, its like he thinks theres people in that little box or something. He loves to play tag… and can sometimes be a bit rough when he catches me…lol But none the less I love the crazy kitty.”

Leopard Lungfish

Unlike its relatives, the Leopard Lungfish (also called Marbled Lungfish and African Lungfish) is actually attractive!

Because of it spotted or marbled pattern, it’s easy to see why the name “Leopard” is used for this variety of lungfish. It is also known by the common names Marbled Lungfish and African Lungfish. Most of the other species of lungfish, although still interesting and worthwhile to keep, are relatively drab looking when compared to this species.
