How Many Dogs does it take to change a lightbulb?
I got this in an email from my joke of the day friend, Jack. The answer of course is:
It depends on the dog!
![]() |
1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb? |

2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I’ll replace any wiring that’s not up to code. |

3. Dachshund: You know I can’t reach that stupid lamp! |
Blonde Naso Tang

This beautiful ‘Blonde’ Naso Tang is every bit as hardy as its Pacific counterpart, only more rare and a bit more expensive!
Both the Blonde Naso Tang, and its close cousin the Naso Tang, N. literatus, are called the Orangespine Unicornfish. This comes from the pair of spines surrounded by a bright orange area on either side of the caudal peduncle. These are some of the most attractive and distinctive of the unicornfish with strong patterning and color accents. The Blonde Naso Tang, originating from the Red Sea and Indian Ocean is more rare as it is not quite as widespread as its very similar counterpart the Naso Tang, which has a black dorsal fin rather than yellow and is found in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean.

Another “spoiled” pet… whats the world coming to? ![]()
I wonder which soap opera Peter likes so much?
Sue says about Peter:
“When I got Peter I knew he was going to be spoiled. He basically gets everything he wants. At first he would not step up on me when I wanted him to, but after a couple of days clicker training Peter comes to me whenever I want. Peter has either a playstation or stand in every room and his cage is in my bedroom, he loves going wherever I go especially if it concerns food. His favorite perch is on my feet when I am in bed, from there he can see the tv (he loves to watch one perticular soap) and has acess to the treats I always keep near me. He loves to learn new things and his favorite toy is a cats ball with a bell in it. ”

Vlamingi Tang

I didn’t post yesterday, I was too busy laughing at the Dog and Cat Diary at the Poodle (and Dog) Blog. What a caricature of the different personalities of dogs and cats! It was a little unfair to the cat, but hilarious none-the-less. Check it out.
Now, on to another saltwater fish, the Vlamingi Tang!
A highly sought after surgeonfish, the Vlamingi Tang or Bignose Unicornfish becomes quite spectacular as an adult!
The Vlamingi Tang not only gets more beautiful as it gets larger, but has the ability to quickly and dramatically change its color from pale to brilliant to dark, depending on mood or environment. In the wild they will be a more moderate slate bluish color when swimming in the open ocean, becoming darker as they approach the reef and lighter when they approach a cleaning station. When trying to impress a female or indicate anger/ dominance, the male will seem to flash with brilliant metallic blue lines and spots. Being a very big fish that will reach a length of just under 2 feet, this pretty specimen is most suitable for a large show aquarium.

Dr. Jungle says… “Sugar Ann is a puppy dog of many faces. She makes a great Santa, beach bum, cool cat (kitten actually), and halloween witch all balled up in one package of gold medal winning cute!
J.D. says about Sugar Ann:
“Sugar gives high-fives for belly rubs, loves kittens but not cats, loves dancing to rock-n-roll music and going to the beach and dressing up.”

Goldring Bristletooth Tang

The Indian Gold Ring Bristletooth is one of the smallest surgeonfish and has a fascinating and unique appearance.
One of nine surgeonfish described as members of the Ctenochaetus genus, the Indian Gold Ring Bristletooth or Spotted Yellow Eye Tang has a most unique coloration. It closely resembles the Yellow-eyed or Kole Tang C. strigosus, being ‘yellow-eyed’ but with spots instead of stripes. Like the others of its genus, the Indian Gold Ring Bristletooth is one of the more peaceful surgeonfish. Its moderate behavior makes it a good companion in a community tank. It should not be housed with aggressive species but rather more peaceful fish. It can be kept with a variety of tank mates including some of the other genus’ of surgeonfish, though watch compatibility as it can be a target of aggressive tank mates and become stressed.

Black Longnose Sailfin Tang

The Black Longnose Sailfin Tang is a difficult fish to photograph, unless it is swimming in front of some bright decor! I found the Twotone, or Brown Scopus Tang very difficult to photograph as well. They look almost black in the aquarium, the photo really brings out the tiny stripes, almost variegated, with the beautiful dark green coloration. Stunning!
With just one quick look there is no question why this surgeonfish is called the Black Longnose Sailfin Tang. It is a definite eye catcher with the jet black coloring contrasted by a white spine or scalpel. Like all seven of the sailfin tang species, when the fins of this tang are fully extended its height is about the same as its length, giving it a disk-shaped appearance. Unlike its close relatives however, its has a very long snout. Though all the Zebrasoma species are noted for having an extended snout, the snout on this fish is in fact about 30% of its body length.
