Check out the different colors these birds can have! A Rubalina is a cross between a Ruby macaw and a catalina macaw. A Ruby macaw is a cross betweena Scarlet and a Greenwing, and a Catalina is a cross between a Blue and Gold and a Scarlet macaw. Now that’s a mouthful, but regardless of the name, the Rubalina is one beautiful bird and apparently, they are more variable in color than most of the macaws. They can range from red through orange, to yellow.

For the colorful at heart, here’s a listing of other Hybrid Macaws.

Here’s what Sam says about Mr. Watersnake:

“A stout little snake aprox 36″ long with very heavily keeled scales, it has dirty red crossbands along the entire length of the body with a base colour of very dark red/brown. the belly is an off white colour with half round red markings on each scale. the eyes are quite large with big round pupils. A very aggresive feeder, but, once out of its encloser it tames down very quickly and is a lovely snake to handle. A large pan of water (cat litter tray works well) and multiple hides are a must for the well being of this very special species.”

Here’s what Blake and Leah say about Jezebel:

“Jezebel is almost a year old. We rescued her from Recycled Canines in Houston, Texas. She is just as destructive as Escobar was as a puppy (she’s eaten several beds, chewed every corner of the deck, most of my house plants and the bark off the trees in the back yard). She is like a termite, but we love her just as much. She is an American bulldog, but looks very similar to Escobar. They get along very well and get into trouble together by treeing the neighbor’s cats.”

Here’s what Melissa says about Cody:

“Cody came to me from a pet store 7 months ago and has hardly ever left my side. His favorite thing to do is climb on my shoulder and stick his nose in my ear. He is the alpha male of a gang of 3 other boy rats. He loves to wrestle with his cagemates, and he’s very protective of his buddies. He bit a kitten on the ear once because the kitten was getting more attention than he was!”

Greek Tortoise

Newly introduced into the American market in the summer of 2001, the pretty Spur-Thigh Tortoise shown below is known as the “Golden” Greek Tortoise.

The Greek Tortoises or Spur-Thigh Tortoises can be highly variable in size and color, as well in their care requirements. This is because their places of origination cover a huge geographic range on over three continents. Consequently there are varying environments that these tortoises have adapted to, producing a large number of varieties. There are currently at least 20 published subspecies with new ones constantly being discovered.
