I am mommy to Fizzgig, a 20 week old senegal parrot, and Sparky, a 15 week old cockatiel. I love both of my birds very much but I am constantly frustrated by Fizzy. She takes off any time I come anywhere near her. The only way I can get her back in her cage at night is by turning off the lights in the room. She knows how to step up. She'll do it when I am working with her in the bathroom, but outside of her training she will actually do it like 1 in 8 times.
Sparky cuddles, eats from my plate, all of these cute things. The problem is....I want Fizzy to be like that as well, but since she isn't as affectionate I tend to just let her be, which I would guess is making her less socialized. The only good thing I have seen is that when Sparky and I cuddle on the couch, Fizzy used to hang out on the other side of the room. Now she is getting closer and closer to see what we are doing, but as soon as I look at her or make a move as if I was going to get her she takes off.
I do not want to cut her wings. Any other solutions.

Well CathyR,
How long have you had your parrot? If you haven't had her long she may still be getting used to her surroundings;maybe she is nervous around you, have you tried to approach her differntly? Do you think you could be scarring her? How is she getting along with the other bird. Well I think you could try to keep her cage closed and then try getting her used to you...maybe she just needs some extra time.

Maybe try offering food she can only get from you. Treats work really well sometimes.

That treat idea is really good! I have found that food and friendship goes together for all types of animals. You mentioned you have a training time in your bathroom, maybe make it more consistent - like 20 minutes a day - to strengthen your bond and make having a relationship with you more natural.
