White Cockatoo

The white cockatoo is my moiety within my culture and when I see this bird around it means a sign of importance must be recognised and acted upon (if need be). However the presence does not mean anything if you are not of the white cockatoo mob, you must have an understanding of the birds habits and enviroment to have knowledge of this great creature.
gavin couzens

View the full article

Jandaya Conure, Yellow-headed Conure

My jenday is named Jendy, I found him at the local pet store. When I asked for a good bird they kinda laughed, so I asked for the meanest 1 and found jendy. I gave it to my girlfriend "who is a vet tech" as a b-day present. The vet there said no one could hold him but from the first day I brought him home He loves my girlfriend, he likes to play in her hair, lol. We take him outside, he flies around a little then returns home. We leave the front door open until he returns, and yeah, the first time was an accident. He really likes to laugh with us and sounds just like me, lol. And he attacks over weight people for some reason. My neighbor is deathly scared of him, lol. happy timez
James

View the full article

Cherry-headed Conure, Red-headed Conure

Our cherry headed conure (Fred) is 24 years old and is much a part of the family. His beak started going crooked last year and the vet needs to file it every month or 2. The last 3 times, he went into seizures after having this done to him. The vet thinks it's either due to the stress of the situation or maybe he has a heart problem. I hold my breath each time and hope he comes out of it. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Melinda

View the full article

Red Canary

I have a Red Factor Canary and I thought he didn't really need toys, as is stated on a previous posting. However, I felt sorry for him and bought him some toys, bell, mirrors, dangly toys and of course a swing. He loves his toys! And he is always on his swing looking in the big mirror on the wall where his cage is, and he sings all of the time because he thinks he is singing to the bird in the mirror. So, it has been my experiences that canaries do like to play with toys and they also like mirrors and sing to their own reflection. His name is Mango and he is one very happy little boy!
Joan Quinn

View the full article

Budgerigars - Parakeets

It is really recommended to take the birds to a vet if you observe something odd is happening. We have six beautiful and cheerful little baby honey birds here in the house, and one of them is ziggy, who is my husband's favorite because it has been with him for a long time. For the last two years, ziggy has been suffering from organ failure (according to the vet) because still his belly gets bigger or bulky. The doctor needs to excrete the excess fluid from his body and we maitain the medicine that he has to take everyday. We wanted to know exactly the main reason of the problem, to cure it, and prevent of losing her. Even my husband spent a lot already, but he is still willing to do everything to keep our little ziggy with us.
LIZIEL COOK

View the full article

Alexandrine Parakeet

I have had my Alex Tutu for a year and a half now from since he was 4 weeks old. He is part mine and my husbands family. He is my shadow following me everywhere around the house. We clipped his wings when he was younger but they grew back and we noticed that he was flying around a lot more in the house. Yesterday he flew out of my husband's hands when he was bringing him inside and we haven't found him yet. I do hope that he is ok and that he can find his way home as this has upset us very much. We love and adore him as he does and I can't understand why he would do this.
Antonella

View the full article
