I got a frag of branching hammer, it's a great coral and thrives in low light levels.  ray  2007-06-21

A very similar coral is the Anchor coral, Euphyllia ancora. There is some question as to whether these two corals are actually the same species. They are both very beautiful and like to sway in the currents. There are also very nice branching anchor corals in this genus such as Euphyllia parancora.

Description:
The Hammer coral and the Anchor coral are very similar except the Hammer coral polyps have hammer or "T" shaped tips. The Anchor corals lack the "T" and have semi-circular or sausage shaped tips. Both come in green and brown colors.

Lighting - Water flow:
Although very strong currents are not appreciated, some water movement is required. It requires medium to strong light.

Difficulty of Care:
This coral is medium hard to care for, it can be recommended to people who have had some experience with species like the Elegance coral.

Aggressiveness:
This coral sends out sweeper tentacles that can be quite strong so give it plenty of room.
