I found a baby Fl. box turtle today while working in my yard. I have 2 aquatic red eared sliders I've had for almost 20 years, but do not know anything about box turtles...HELP! It's sooo tiny, about the size of a quarter. I was thinking to take it to a turtle rescue tomorrow but do not know how to care for it overnight. My daughter-in-law said I should put it back where I found it, but I cut down a gigantic bush that it was underneath and now I'm afraid a snake or bird may eat it, (as it's sooo small).

It has been overnight so obviously you figured out a way to care for it. You can just take it to a rehabilitator - they would know what to do and where it can be released.

I saw two turtles with long claws that looked like the Florida box turtle. They were in a man made lake in Amarillo, Texas. Long way from Florida.

Texas? Bah. We just found a florida box turtle in Moorhead, Minnesota. We're thinking of seeing if the local zoo will take it in... it's definitely not native here.
