I have two white faced at the moment the female is darker coloured grey and stark white with baring on her tail and my male he is very light light grey almost silver and a creamy white. His head is all white and hers is all grey they are currently nesting 6 eggs all layed over two weeks. I wasn't expecting so many so we will see. They aren't hand raised just in avairy so I'm hoping to hand tame bubs making them more sell choice. I also have a pure latino yellow with orange cheeks I'm pretty sure he's a male but not 100%. He doesn't sing also avairy. And I have one cinnamon she is beautifull and hand tamed she loves to climb all over you she doesn't whistle more squeals she has baring on her under tail. I'm going to get another lutino to mate with my other one very soon . Curious if the whitefaced are mating is there a chance babies will be same colours ???? as parents?

Usually the offspring will look like the parents unless the parents happen to be a mutation. Of course the offspring can look like the granparents as well, depending on genetics. So good luck.

You have some pretty cockatiels. I really like both the White-faced and the Lutino coloration! Not sure what happens when the two White-faced mate, but I think you can find out from the genetics.

I have raised two chicks from my cockatiels. Shadow was a white-faced and Stormy was a white-faced pearl. CJ turned out to be a whiteface and Cloudy turned out to be a white-faced pearl. It is 50-50.

I love my CJ! She is so funny and has lots of personality. She probably gets it from her dad, Shadow (RIP).

Is the cockatiel pictured in this article male or female? Mine looks exactly like it.

The article above says the male has a brillant white face and the femlaes is more greyish so good guess is the photo above is that of a female. You have a little girl.

I have three white-faced cockatiel breeding couple and I'm not sure if one little female is really a female because I've heard when it's singing as a carrot very noise but even I've seen when the male goes upon her. I'm pretty confused about this couple can somebody help me about it? Can a female sing as though as a male thanks in advance?

Please read the descriptions of the various male vs female in the white faced cockatiel variations. Also read the breeding section on the cockatiels. Normally the males face is whiter than the females - the females face being more of a grey. Normally the females have a barring on the underside of their tail feathers and the males barring dissapears after their first molt. Normally the males sing and the females do not. However if you have two males, frequently one will assume the male role and the other the female role. Only a few ways to tell with 100% accuracy males vs females. You can have them DNA sexed or you will know if one is a female if she lays an egg. I can see where you would be confused and sometimes you just have to wait.

I have a grey male who is about 6 yrs old. We have had him from 13 wks and while he loves my husband he hates me and I feed, clean him etc!! He tries to bite me and won't let me stroke him but my husband can stoke him ect. He talks and whistles loudly but will not come out of the cage. He has a big parrot cage and tomorrow we are getting a 3yr old white cheek boy that will go in with him once they are used to each other.
I love the birds and my cats stay away as he deafens them if they go too near

I have a female cockatiel and she loves to whistle. Male cockatiels are more likely to talk than females.

Hi.. I have just bought a baby white faced pied cockatiel yesterday named Max (by my 5yo son). He is so cute. He is not hand raised so I'm attempting to tame him. I have never done this before so should be fun. Already he has walked over my hand. He keeps getting closer and closer to my hand/ voice and I've only had him since last night. Any advice...

If he was raised in an avairy you are going to have to spend hours all day and days on end to tame him and you may be disappointed when he still bites or runs away from you!!! I tried with one of mine and closest I can get is with food in my hand. Millet is a good reward to tame or fresh fruit and vegies or there favorite sunflower seeds. He will take them out of my hand but won't let me pick him up he will his and bite hard. be carefull with your son they can draw blood. Show him your not scared too they are smart and sense your moods. good luck.

I have a female White Pearl Faced Cockatiel called Abby and she is very noisy. She is about a year and a half and has just laid her 6th egg. She is very attached to me and wants to be with me all the time (that is not always possible). She will continually tweet without a break until I get her out of her cage and put her on my shoulder and that is no guarantee that she will stop tweeting. She is my baby and I love her very much so I put up with all her noise. The Cockatiel does make a great pet.

I have the same issue with my cinnamon tiel (Pipper). She hates being in the cage and tweets till you get her out if she can hear or see me. And if she is out she loves to be on me an not on her jungle gym and if she can hear and not see me she tweets until I answer her and then she will fly to me or crash one or the two she is only little still lover her to pieces my son loves her too.

Cockatiels can be noisy, males more than females, I have 4 right now and going to get my 5th tomorrow. I have Tweetie (yellow) Pauley (grey) who are my breeders, my 1st hatchling from the pair Baby (yellow) Nymph (white-face) which I adopted from a rescue, and going to get Holland (male white-face) tomorrow. Out of all them the only 2 that are noisy are Baby and Pauly. Bay is almost 1 year and says Baby's a pretty birdie and whistles that she's pretty, Pauly just whistles to Tweetie telling her she's Pretty. I love all my tiels very much but think White-faced tiels are the best looking.
