4 stars. Guide to Tarantulas... attractive and informative
Arachnophiles of all stripes will appreciate this book, which covers a broad scope of thirty-seven species including short descriptions of physical and dispositional characteristics, geographical distribution and native habitats, and much more useful information. This is more of a survey than striving to be encyclopaedic, yet the amount of information conveyed is quite substantial. Over and above the text, the book succeeds in presenting "the beauty of the spider" with one and sometimes two color photographs of each species presented, truly well done. I have found this book useful in evaluating and selecting particular species to add to my own collection, balancing appearance against temperament. This volume is not exhaustive, but quite representative. Further volumes cover even more species. Congratulations, Russ; keep up the good work!
