Here's what Tom says about Midge:

"Midge came by for lunch again today!

"I know her favorite food is crab-apples. The darn moose (we call her "Midge") came back four times in just one day to eat on the crab apple tree.

"First we picked all the apples off the tree, but that didn't slow her down. Then we put netting around the tree. When Midge came back at dusk she walked up to the tree, saw the netting and stared at the tree for about five minutes. Then she started walking around the rest of the back yard to see what she could find. But nothing looked so good, so she left to chew on the neighbor's quaking aspen.

"Midge" comes to visit in the morning.
" I think I'll go munch on some delicious crab apples!
...not too sweet, not too tart."

"Midge" rounds out her meal with a bit of quaking aspen.
"Now for a little
quaking aspen snack
...just to round out the menu."

Feeling rather full, "Midge" looks for a place to nap!
"Oh my, I'm full!

...I think I need a nap!"

"We often see 'Midge' out in the field in the mornings. This morning we were blessed with both Mom and Midge as visitors. "

"Midge" is a visiting female moose.

"The authorities recently came with a trailer and collected 'Midge', moving her back into the country where she will be able to live a normal moose life."...Tom

Dr. Jungle, "Notice 'Mom' in the picture above...she has a couple of fences and a lot of distance between herself and Midge while they are visiting. Mom is definitely not a 'Dummy'!

"Midge is one of those 'pets' that can just show up in the right places.

"There are a few challenges with a moose as a pet. Besides having a voracious appetite, it is a huge job to clean up after them! BUT ...perhaps the biggest problem with a pet moose is they have a very unpredictable and sometime extremely irascible personality. They are not an animal to pet or for close contact.

Dr. Jungle says, "We don't recommend a moose as a pet!"
